"Fantastic service, cool vibe and decent Taco Tuesday special. At 4pm on a Tuesday it was pretty quiet inside and out, with a few after work drinkers at the bar. Inside has fun decor with motorcycle taxidermy , trust me it's worth seeing. I selected the shredded beef tacos on corn tortillas with no beans, only rice as the side. The beef was tender, not stringy and had a nice flavor. Spicy but not deadly. Rice was fine, unremarkable. Tried the frozen margarita since it's hot out. It was strong and limey, but $10. This place, unfortunately, has no happy hour specials. I liked the shady East facing patio with booths. Our server came back so frequently to check on us it was almost comical. Very efficient and effective young man. I look forward to coming back during the evening to hang out at the bar for some cocktails!"
"When my daughter wanted to plan a surprise birthday party for her husband's 40th, she asked his friends where to have it. The overwhelming response was Roman's! My SIL & his friends have going there for years. I was surprised to find out that the restaurant is actually a 100 years old! The restaurant was very helpful in helping my daughter set up and arrange for this party. They blocked off the back room and let her come in beforehand and bring decorations They let us bring a cake in as well. They were just overall very accommodating, which was very appreciated for such a large group . The actual restaurant/bar has a Country Western vibe to it, complete with Country Western dancing. Children are allowed in until 9:30p at night which made it easy for us to all bring our little ones for at least awhile. The food and drinks were really good and fairly priced . THE RESTAURANT IS CASH ONLY, but this doesn't seem to affect business, as it was packed with people ( in addition to our group) My son- in-law was born in Phoenix and this was a perfect place to have his 40th birthday party because he & his friends have literally grown up going there. Thank you for all the help with our celebration, Roman's!"
"Absolutely love this place!!!It has taken me forever to finally visit the bar. and they did not disappoint. The number one thing I absolutely LOVE about the bar, they serve fresh cut fries. The wings were amazing, I had them with the John Blaze honey hot and the sauce was delicious!!! The drink I ordered, Sexican, so good.To top all that off, they played throwback 90s rap and r&b, which took me down memory lane. I will be back again and again and again!!!Rate 10/10"
"Finding a dive like this in Scottsdale is like finding the Taco Bell taco pack at the Korean potluck, finding the cat at a beach, like finding the stoner at a church picnic."
"A quick stop here on a recent Sunday around noon produced a limited crowd at the bar and also at the tables. This must be a bar built awhile ago as no windows are available. The English accented female bartender was very nice and the beers were cold and that's what matters. I then noticed a tiny kitchen and a huge menu spanning all meals. Menu says famous tacos, so here were go. They were double wrapped and full of white meat chicken with some onions I think. Salsa was good and bonus radishes and cucumbers were good surprise. Will try something else again."
"My husband and I used to go to the Dunes back in the day! Went on a hot August night with some of my son's friends parents and I have to say he he place hasn't changed much over the years except now there isn't the stale smoke or beer smell.Ordered at the bar from a young female bartender. Beers were cold with a good selection. They even have Modelo, but no ciders. Karaoke at 9. Two pool tables and a digital jukebox with something for everybody. Bathrooms clean and starting to be remodeled. The Dunes is a classic dive bar at its finest. No drama, cold beer and good people!"
"I used to kick it here back in the early 2010s when it was Chilly Bombers, and I hated it--everyone just had monster energy tattoos and lifted trucks. But don't worry, it's better now. When I arrived, I first thought it was really dumb to have karaoke on Saturday night--I mean karaoke is on Thursdays and Sundays or some other off night virtually everywhere else. There should really be a DJ playing some bangers in the room. People should be conversing, not tuning out singing when they're trying to play darts. Hell, the sound was not even good. Nevertheless, I escaped to the patio and stayed there, and it was 10x better, even if the door threatened to hit someone every time it was open. Just sports highlights and a lot of seating and perfect winter weather with my friends. The bartender asked for my name once and only once. It was real busy but she remembered absolutely everything correctly, made good drinks, and at last call had my tab ready without me even having to say anything. I felt like a regular because it was just absolutely flawless service. Nearly the entirety of the 3 stars I have for this place are thanks to them. You could do worse than this neighborhood bar, but if you get dragged here, you'll be just fine."
"I don't normally venture out to New local bars... but my wife and I were out on a date night and dinner ended early but we weren't ready to head home yet why waste a good face of makeup...lol So I yelped bars near me and Hollyrock was like 1.6 miles a away! So as we pulled up we were a little nervous because lets be real all spaces are not lbgtq+ or poc friendly... be mutually decided we'll have one drink and leave if it's not a vibe! Welp 10 drinks later (collectively...lol) we were still there my wife was enjoying they game and everyone was nice. There were pool tables and I think a jukebox the bartender Josh was really nice and poured good drinks my wife had like a chocolate martini and it was really good I had skittles shots all night which were also really good! All and all it was a nice end to the night!"
"I love this place! Tim is literally the best guy ever. I can't wait to come back. I'm always down for some good vegan food."
"My friends think of me as some upscale cocktail guy (and I am!) but I'm absolutely fascinated with checking out nondescript dive bars. The kind you can drive past 100 times without even seeing it's there. The kind where you imagine people get into serious trouble. Or for this bored Yelper, at least a place that might be interesting. The first car I saw in the parking lot was pretty old, and had a faded "Vietnam Veteran" sticker on it. I hit the jackpot. I stepped in and realized I was easily the youngest patron here. The tables and chairs were disorganized, but everyone was sitting at the bar. The men's restroom is in questionable condition, with fly traps hanging from the ceiling and graffiti covering the mirror. There were three beers on tap, all domestics, and the bottle selection wasn't about to make it any more promising. I still liked it. Why? Because it's humble. It's dirt cheap. And most of all, the bartender, Naomi does such a great job maximizing what she has to work with. Her Ice Cream Shots were delicious. Her jello shots made me nostalgic for the house parties of 2019. And best of all, her local knowledge of the valley had blown me away. It's like talking to a historian. Not saying Royale is gonna be lit, or that your friends will be happy spending a whole evening here. But I'll say there's a reason it's got some regulars. It's a slice of Phoenix that is preserved in a different era, and it's worth checking out."
"If you want a local spot for some great drinks, pool, and awesome music... Stop here. Nothing fancy about this place, but delivers everything that you would get a five star bar."
"Here's the deal, if you like a good dive bar THIS IS IT. It's nothing fancy and that is the charm. Strong drinks, good prices, and friendly bartenders. And they open at 6am everyday which makes it perfect for travelers experiencing a crazy long layover at the airport. They serve a little bit of food if you're hungry, have a couple of pool tables, and plenty of seating. It's the kind of place where everyone looks to the front door every time it opens to see who is walking in. Look, sometimes you just a good bar where you can let your hair down and escape from the rat race. Who needs all of the hullabaloo? As far as neighborhood watering holes go, Wanderin checks all the boxes. Special shout out to bartender Rae who was super kind and kept the customers smiling and laughing during my visit."

Fun local tavern with both indoor and outdoor seating. Seemed like a good after work crowd having some drinks and listening to music while they try to unwind. Food was good. The quesadilla appetizer was excellent. The Boursin burger was decent, the cheese overwhelmed the entire burger but it was still good. Fries were beer battered and crispy! Overall good experience if you are in the mood for a good pub hangout spot.

Made a stop by here this afternoon and by the looks of the outside it is a lot bigger inside then you would think , when we got there it was not busy at all so just grabbed a seat near everyone that was betting on horse races and that was a show in itself definitely a good time listening to everyone rooting for there horses. They have several different spaces to sit and relax . Now onto the food We started with the fried pickles and fries which were absolutely great as well as some extra crispy wings which were amazing, I ended up trying the big bubba sandwich which was a big sandwich and very good , I also added the onion rings which were cooked to perfection definitely a place I'll be heading back to can't wait to try something new.

A hole-in-the-wall bar that makes you immediately feel like a local. Went after getting some wing recommendations from a friend and they even have 85 cent wings on Tuesdays! (Dine in only though). There aren't a lot of flavor options for the wings but the flavors that they do have are quite unique like the Cherry BBQ flavor; not something I would order on the regular but still delicious. I normally crave extra sauce but these wings might have been a little too smothered for me in this extra sweet sauce. The John Blaze Hot Honey did have a good kick to it but not excessively hot. Good combo of sweet and spicy! And on top of that the fries were perfectly crisp; some of my favorite I've had in Phoenix. Service was a bit slow and we had to ask the server to refill our glasses.Overall, a great stop for wings and fries.

Yes. What a nice dive bar in the Dale.Loved coming here and posting up at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and inviting and could tell we weren't from there. We just had 2 drinks as we wanted to dip to another joint but this place is a good time. The locals def show up here and what I appreciate is it's not cash only as it looks like a place that could be.Plenty of parking is available just be careful pulling out as that road is dark since their no street lamps in front!!

Calling all my karaoke lovers...this is a fun spot in Phoenix to karaoke! Fun dive bar with two pool tables directly to the left by the bathrooms, a small bar in the middle and plenty of tables and seating to the right to sing laugh at others singing, ha or hang with your friends for some grub and a cocktail. I've been to many karaoke bars so the mic system isn't the best but def better than nothing or not having it at all so I'll deal with it! can get a bit rowdy here so come early for a more chill vibe

Not a bad spot but definately a spot for the holics jk ! Lol I did read other reviews. You will have to wait alittle because there are alot of regulars here! Girls behind the bar were nice but not to attentive to new comers. Oh well at least they were nice to us. They do have darts and a pool table? Drink prices reasonable. This bar has potential if they would acknowledge any new comer with in 30 seconds to 1 minute! It would change so much.

"Great little dive bar. If you want a little dive bar that's a hole in the wall. This is your place. Staff is friendly. Drinks are cheap."
"My Deer Valley friends, if you have not found it yet, the Tav is the towny bar you have been looking for! It is truly where everyone knows your name. They do not hate on new comers and treat them and welcome them as one of the regulars, because they know, once you go you are a regular! They have the usual great selection of every liquor and a good selection of beers on tap. Did I mention they serve food?! Great menu and they don't mind altering to your liking. Be a local- go to the Tav!"
"It's a spot I've gone to a handful or times and I like it! A step up from a nice hole in the wall bar but a lot more comfortable than one of those stuck up bars! The food I've tried was really good. (Wings, Fish Tacos, Burgers & Fries but there's much more) Friendly staff! When ASU is in session the night crowd changes pretty fast but it's always been a friendly atmosphere. It's my go too place"
"I've been living in Phoenix for almost 30 years and none of my so-called friends have ever introduced me to this bar. What a great old time atmosphere. Makes me think of drinking with my dad. On top of all that, I came for the highly recommended wings and they did not disappoint. Don't be surprised to see me there on Tuesdays for their wing special. #DukeOfEats"
"Came to Rips as part of a birthday celebration. Rip's was chosen by the person who's birthday it was because it is one of their favorite bars, and it was karaoke night. Aside from the people there for the birthday, not many additional people were in the bar. The guy running karaoke said that while he doesn't have a book, he has hundreds of thousands of songs. He has yet to have someone request a song he doesn't have. He wiped down the microphone in-between each singer. Drinks were very reasonably priced. Full bar along with beer and cider on tap. Only one bartender was working the night I was there. She was busy. She remained calm, cool, collected, and still managed to be engaging."
"I appreciate the fact that it's a local spot. I've gone in numerous times over the last 20 years... Sure, I can hang, have a few and meet some folks. Admittedly, it's not a place I'd pick to grab one. Not my choice of dives. They've got a joke box, decent patio and I believe they may even have a pool table? Just not my vibe. Attentive staff, a few tvs... when I was here the other night, I was the only one wearing any color.... I guess what I'm saying is it's a darker, lower key vibe than I feel comfortable in. That's a me thing. Usually the music choice on the box is one I won't go for either. They've gotta be doing something right to have been around for as long as they have which is why I'm giving them a reasonable rating but it's not in line with my divey spots."
"Hands down, the best bar in the state. I've made life long friends here, always felt safe and comfortable. We all look out for each other here and I've been accepted like family. I love Sam and Addy as well as the whole crew who frequents here. The pool is awesome, the vibes are immaculate and this has been such a wonderful find being a mpls transplant and finding a cozy little home. Love you guys :) Rae & Ryan"
"Absolutely loved my experience at Coach House! We'd just come from another spot in Scottsdale that was very pricey, so it was nice to be able to get some tasty refreshing drinks without breaking the bank. Our bartender (I think Drew was his name??) was super friendly with our group and gave us some great recommendations for quality food in the area to try before we left to go back to the East Coast. The vibe is immaculate -- Christmas lights from floor to ceiling? Yes please, sign me right up. The experience was 10/10 and if I ever find myself back in Scottsdale, Coach House will definitely be on my list of places to visit again!"
"We stumbled upon this bar one Saturday while out running errands .. the kind of place that does not judge you for having jack Daniels and Diet Coke before noon .. the regulars don't care that you've stopped in.. the pop corn is free and the vibe is easy goingThe bartender told us the wings and fish & chips were good so we returned on a Friday for happy hour and fridays special Fish & chips.. Lindsey was our bartender.. she kept our drinks full and Bill was the chef .. he was funny and entertaining.. the food was hot and the fish was fried right .. the wings smelled amazing (Marty sitting next to us ordered them and when he was concerned about the heat .. Bill brought him a baby spoon so he could try it) and yes we made fun of Marty as a group We will definitely be back to try the wings .. and listen to Casey Brooks from 5-8.. cherry bombs are $1.. the green tea with Jamison, peach snapps & lemonade is delicious This is a dive bar .. it might be Smokey and dark inside and rough around the edges but they are welcoming of outsiders .. thanks for the cold drinks, good food and laughs AND Bill see you next time.."
"I've come here twice with Phoenix locals and both times were extremely great. Cheap strong drinks. The bartenders are quick and friendly and they remember your drink! Great music because the customers are in control of the jukebox. Pool table and darts makes for a great time as well."
"Such a neat small bar! It was recommended by a few of my family members and I'm so glad I was able to check it out. The service here is amazing! I loved that for a Friday night it wasn't packed. It was definitely full at all times but there's room to spread out. Prices are good and the snacks are good as well! The whole establishment was clean! Plenty of parking out front as well. We will definitely come back."
"PROS: This place is the go-to bar for all happy hour events. My co-workers and I always come here and it's considered a great spot. They serve mixed drinks in normal size glasses compared to other bars and the bartender is very nice. A good amount of room to sit at and the place has a nice look to itCONS: They only have a 2 person bathroom which can cause a line with the amount of people they can sit and the tables aren't waited upon by a waitress/waiter towards 7pm onwards OVERALL: Come here for drinks, because if you're not you're missing out"
"So, after a long night out, we decided to look for a karaoke bar near our hotel. And let me tell you I am so glad we found this place !!From the outside it literally looks just like a biker bar , but you will find a super chill place to hang out inside! They have an outdoor bar games in the patio. They have pool tables. They have a great great indoor bar and of course karaoke. !Mike thank you so much for making us feel so welcomed!Everyone at the bar and in the other room areas or so friendly, and so welcoming that we will definitely be back !And don't forget the drinks were absolutely great !"
"If you are looking to 'hideaway' from adulting then this is the place for you! This place has everything, flip flops with jeans, rage against the machines playing on the jukebox, the crazy lady the screams profanities at 630am, and your coworker that's on a "keto diet".Jeanette will serve you an amazing drink, slap you in the face, choke you out and thank you to death."
"We had a really fun time at groggy's with our friends. Decided to stop for drinks after having dinner at a nearby restaurant. They were having an Xmas party of some sort so there were lots of people dressed in festive clothing. The drinks were good and cheap and we were entertained by some folks arguing and almost fighting over a jacket. Lol it never escalated to throwing punches but boy were they upset. I don't think this is an issue for this establishment seems like all locals and everyone was really nice."
"Clean neighborhood bar. Gave it a try for the first time after living blocks way for years. Friendly bar service and decent crowd. Cheap pitchers, plenty of tvs and games, good people watching, if you're into it. Comfy atmosphere, bring cash because a fee is applied if you use card."
"We happened to stumble on this place while needing to kill some time. The bartender Susan was so wonderful. She made us feel like part of the family. She also was saying how good the owner is to the employees there and this made me extra happy to support the place. They have bingo on certain Saturdays and so we got in on the bingo. It was super fun!! People donate the prizes and there were some really funny ones. People also bring in snacks to share. The service was great as she was able to do a great job at keeping up even while calling bingo. The money raised from bingo went to a veterans organization which was another win. Love this place so much. I want to move to this neighborhood now. lol"
"Straight up dive bar, full of straight up fun and cool patrons and bartenders. New friends were made. Everyone was outgoing and welcoming. This bar definitely has a low key party vibe mixed with friendly customers. I love meeting and talking to new people, this place is for cool people who do the same. Pool table? Check. Bar game where you drop a quarter in a jar of water to win a shot? Check. Goldfish racing ? Check. All around fun dive bar. No nonsense, super casual environment. Come as you are, and drink, enjoy the company, and have fun! On my list of fav dive bars! Go experience the fun and cheap drinks! Go inside and see for yourself! I'll be back STAT. They got those early morning hours too for all our nightshift crews. This bar meet every need!"
"Super good bar food very local spot. You know what you're gonna get when you go there and that's why I like it."
"Had a few drinks here a cpl of weeks ago. The bartender Melissa was really nice and helpful. I'm legally blind so they made sure I found the restroom when it was needed. Drinks are fairly priced and the establishment appeared clean with plenty of fun things for it's patrons. They even shared a slice of pizza someone ordered in. Their 'regulars' playing pool and darts were also friendly to this out of towner. My only complaint is there was no decent IPA on tap. I'll definitely visit again if I'm ever visiting the area."
"The divest of dive bars that if you are a local, make you proud that this is your local spot. We had the pleasure of hanging out here one evening with our friends who are super regulars. Cheap drinks, other bar patrons are awesome to socialize with, Owner is cool as hell. There was a DJ on our visit so the music was blasting, folks were dancing, good times all around. Two pool tables, and old arcade games for entertainment, back outside patio for chilling. A true dive bar gem."
"As advertised it's a dive bar. Reasonably priced drinks and very nice bartender. Service was efficient and dirty glasses were cleared quickly."
"This place must be the twin brother of Tony's Cocktail Lounge at 59th and Greenway. I don't know if they are affiliated or not, but they seem almost identical. The place is sort of divey, but at least they pour with a heavy hand. Like Tony's, it can be redneckish at times, but it does have a better female male ratio: unlike Tony's where it's 12 guys for every girl, this place is probably more like 8 or 9:1. If you just want a place to go to and get trashed and not drop a lot of cash, this is your place."
