Pork & shrimp spring rolls. This was the center. Tasted good because it's hard to mess up a spring roll, but it lacked filling

This place is a little gem in Poway for pho. We've been to many pho restaurants in San Diego, many of which are decent but overcrowded (especially in Mira Mesa). Pho Tan, however, has plenty of parking and a quiet atmosphere where my husband and I could enjoy our meals. Service, naturally, was fast and efficient. As for the food itself, what can I say, the pho was satisfying and rich and not too sweet. The portion sizes were quite large and I tried my best to finish. My husband got the beef stew which had much more meat than we expected--lots of gelatinous beef tendon which I loved.

I hope more people support this new small business. It was sadly empty while we were there around 5:30 pm on a Monday.First off, 5 stars for customer service. They are really nice and attentive. Egg noodle stir fry with seafood: 4 stars. Could be more savory (it's on the sweeter side) but overall pretty good. There's a bottle of light soy sauce on the table which my friend used to add a touch more flavor. Shrimp & pork spring rolls. 2 stars. The 2 rolls looked sadly rolled and lacked filling. Obviously, spring rolls are not hot, but when I picked one up it was noticeably cold and the noodles inside were also cold like they had been premade and refrigerated before served. Pho Tai Gan and Pho Xe Lua both 3.5 stars. It came out piping hot with a nice beef flavor but lacked the herbal aromatics of good pho broth like star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, etc. Unfortunately, the noodles in my bowl were overcooked and clumpy like it had sat in the bowl too long before the broth was ladled in. There are some easy fixes to help them step up their game. I hope they make the improvements so we can make this our local pho spot.

Pho Tan took over Pho Poway. They just finished 4 weeks and still in soft opening. Plenty of parking in this plaza. We ordered:-Summer rolls ($6.25) came w 2-fish sauce wings ($13.25)-pho filet ($15.50)-broken rice grilled pork, steamed meat loaf and shredded pork ($13.99)-Custom Pho ($13.99)The food here was average, could be better. Nothing special with summer rolls. The pho broth tasted diluted and not much beef flavor or aroma. I feel like it contained msg because I'm sensitive and I was having dry mouth and thirsty throughout the night. The pho filet was sliced a bit thick for being filet but it was very soft and chewable. Both pho had lots of meat.Wings were okay. Had better but I enjoyed the sauce. My favorite dish was the broken rice dish. Great price for the portion you get. On the smaller side but perfect for me. The steamed egg loaf was moist. The grilled pork was a bit salty but had a lot of flavor. Wasn't as tender but still good.I like how the prices are kept low.I think Pho Tan has room for improvement. I would much rather dine here and support a small business than to eat pho at its competitor down the street at the chain restaurant.

This place has taken over what used to be Pho Poway. Let me tell you; the Pho did not disappoint. I haven't had a vegetable pho with so much fresh ingredients and not just aesthetically pleasing, but flavorful as well. They've really cleaned up the place as well. It's nice and bright and overall clean. The staff was welcoming and and provided excellent service. I'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

I really enjoyed the dishes here. Their fried tofu was different and had this mochi outer layer that gave it a different texture. It was great and I enjoyed the tofu a lot. Their chicken wings were very flavorful as well. The sizzling steak platter was awesome. The meat was tender and juicy. One of my favorite dishes is the Com Tam and their house special was really good. The atmosphere gave me old school Vietnamese restaurant vibes. The people serving us were attentive and quick. Would definitely come back here again to try other things.

Get to try this new business during its soft opening. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The server was so friendly to us and recommended bomb stir-fried dish. Food was delicious! Love the sauce that soften and added flavor to the noodles, meat was fresh and cooked well. We'll definitely come back to try out the rest of the menu soon

New Vietnamese restaurant in town and we wanted to check it out. I'll update once we eat. Nice clean spot, menu has all the go-to favorites we like. Bún with egg rolls and bbq pork, broken rice dish with grilled beef, bahn mi, pho tái fillet mignon and more. Today we ordered the Bún with egg rolls and bbq pork, broken rice dish with grilled beef, bahn mi with grilled pork. Food came out quick and earlier than estimated 15-20 minutes. Came out in 13! Also side note while waiting there was a deliciously smelling sizzling dish that came out. I was typing here so I didn't see what it was. Took menu pics for now. Will update soon.

My family and I went to try Pho Tan during their soft opening. The food was delicious, and it's our new go to Vietnamese spot whenever we are in the area! We had the fried tofu and fish sauce wings for appetizers. The fried tofu was soft with a light and crispy exterior. The sautéed veggies with fried garlic brought a delicious garlic flavor throughout the whole dish. The fish sauce wings were exceptionally savory. If you haven't had fish sauce wings, I definitely recommend giving them a try. If you're afraid the flavor may be too fishy, there's no need to worry. Instead, the fish sauce brings a rich and savory flavor without any fishiness. It coats the crispy and juicy chicken wings well. For my entree, I had the grilled pork chop with broken rice. The pork chop was juicy and tender with a rich and savory lemongrass flavor. Honestly, this was one of the best grilled pork chops I've had out of any Vietnamese spot that I've been too. The dipping sauce on the side was sweet, rich, and thicker than most other spots' sauces. And the veggies bring a freshness to balance out the richness of the plate. My family also got the grilled steak cubes that were delicious. They came out on a sizzling plate, cooked perfectly to a nice medium/medium rare. We also had the filet mignon pho. The broth came out darker than most pho spots I've been too. It was very aromatic and one of the richest pho broths I've had. It paired well with the cuts of tender filet mignon.I'm glad that this spot delivered. They do not hold back with the flavor and savoriness throughout the menu. I'll definitely be coming back whenever we're needing Vietnamese food in Poway. And, I'm excited to try everything else on the menu!*Sorry I was only able to get pics of our appetizers and forgot to snap shots of the rest. Once the rest of the food came out we were all quick to start eating haha
