Phileas Foggs Bar & Restaurant

For years, this was my spot for fish and chips!I had forgotten how good it was until recently. They serve up delicious food and ice cold drinks at reasonable prices. Always a fun vibe and crowd inside.Service is excellent and super friendly.If in the area, be sure to give them a try.

A decent pub in Poway. Great hospitality and a nice list of beers to choose from, including several rotating taps. They have a good happy hour and a fish fry special menu on Fridays. That said, the food itself is kind of middle-of-the-road.The order of wings has a $3 celery and carrot stick add on, and as you can see in the photo, it's pretty small for the price. The wings themselves were decent, though I liked the jalapeño poppers a bit more. They were pretty good.One very strange thing about the wing order is we asked for blue cheese. The dipping sauce they brought had a mild blue cheese flavor, but was extremely liquified and runny. One of the weirdest blue cheeses I've ever had.The cheeseburger was ok, but very small. They give a good portion of fries, however. The burger was just a bit dry and didn't offer that much in the way of juiciness and flavor.I'd say to come for the brews, and maybe skip the food.

Came here for dinner with my husband (who happens to be from the UK) . The pub / restaurant is family friendly and quite busy for a Friday night. It was definitely a family run business as it felt very homey. We ordered two hard ciders, they weren't too sweet, which is always nice. We ordered sausage rolls, we gave it a 3/5. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best. I ordered the chicken tikki masala with naan. I would rate it a 4/5, it was a good amount and I was able to take some home. My husband ordered the fish and chips, he said he really liked it but the chips were kind of bland until he added vinegar. We would probably come back if we are in the area again.

So for starters, parking sucks. Not necessarily the proprietors fault. However, the owner has taken it upon himself to paint a "reserved" sign for his personal parking spot. Talk about a complete lack of care for the customer. The place is not very clean. Feels a little sticky. The service team did a fine job. No complaints there. They have a solid tap list. But there is a weird after taste almost like the lines haven't been cleaned in a while. Again, short sighted by the owner/manager if that is the case. I would like to say there a lot of other options in the area, but unfortunately there aren't. I would be more inclined to drive a bit and go to the bar at Chili's than return.

Visited 5/19/2023Best Traditional Fish & Chips Around.Great Cod Perfectly Battered and Fried.I've been dining here for over 8 years.This place doesn't disappoint.The Double Bacon Cheeseburger was super flavorful. Will definitely Recommend this Oddly Named Pub for the great food and great choices on the menu.Lots of seating and Craft Beers.Well worth visiting.Enjoy

I checked out Phileas Fogg's recently and they have a comprehensive menu of British Pub favorites! Even Tikka Masala and lasagna which are commonly found on pub menus in the UK. I ordered the Traditional Fish & Chips and it was very good. The chips were chunky style and perfectly hot and crispy. Better than the chips I had at Shakespeare Pub not long ago. The fish is made with a large center-cut filet of beautiful white cod. The beer batter is very tasty and crispy although easily sloughed off the fish unfortunately. Comes with cole slaw and tartar sauce. The vibe here is decidedly more dive bar than it is British Pub. Service was rather impersonal and surly. Maybe they're nicer to regulars.

So you miss the grub of Ole'Blighty and happen to live in that British of British suburbs -- you know Sabre Springs. Once you step into Phileas, the musty aroma of barely chilled ale, just-fried chippy, and HP sauce welcomes you to its warm embrace. While the proprietor hails from Erie, there's no troubles here but their amazing chicken wings and wide selection of beer. I'd recommend their amber -- smooth and mild. Most chains (cough, cough Cheese Cake Factory) use beef for their Shepard's Pie. No not Phileas. They go authentic with lamb. And yes, a nod to Erie, they serve Irish Stew with nothin but mutton. And this will leave you gobsmacked: mushy peas. Next time, try the fish and chips with the mooshy peas -- velvety radioactive-green simplicity of British gastronomic tradition.BTW, I think it's a big Scouse hangout because of the Liverpool kits. Should stay away if you support Man U

Once in a while I get cravings of Phileas Foggs signature wings and I go to get their garlic pepper wings and o boy those wings are good. My family loves getting wings from here. I have been going here for more than 10 years and loved every time I got them. Occasionally while waiting for wings i tried their beers and they very wide range of draft beers. Very well maintained and very clean tavern/restaurant. The wings tastes very fresh since the day 1 I ordered.

Great place! Love the atmosphere and the staff... what a fun bunch. Love their mead and their food is some of the best in town.

Love this place, food is really good and Brian and Toolay are super good people. I've been taking a drinking break but when I do get back to it I'll be here a lot so get ready guys!
