The customer service was good, via text. The ambiance was nice too! I was able to check out Open Mic Tuesday which provided me insight on San Diego's up and coming talent. I could tell that this place is probably packed on the weekends but tonight was chill and and the music was neo soul which is my jam!

So we came in for a bachelorette party. That should be enough. Said. We were able to get a booth. The only unfortunate thing is that the cost of the booth versus the bottle of champagne that they bring you. Is it very comparable. The service though is very nice, friendly, and quick. And the main event guy. He was really nice. The DJ was really good and played good songs all night

Great place to come to if you have a VIP area. I didn't really roam to far from my VIP section but it appeared that there were no regular places to sit just mostly VIP tables. So most of the people were standing and dancing but I could be wrong since I didn't actually check. I went Saturday , it was very packed , and we had to keep flagging our waitress down to bring us more bottles. She never really came and checked on us. Also the security was standing right next to our VIP section and letting random people just hop over our roped off section to get to wherever they were going. When we pointed this out to him, he shrugged his shoulders. What's the point of paying all this money for VIP and your letting people come into our section? My home boy had to do the bouncing for us, phantom lounge should have put him on the payroll. I am a fan of the music here. This is the only place besides FSix and Casablanca that play real hip hop and rap music, not that pop/house music San Diego is known for. I do like to turn up with some Future or Gucci mane in the back ground LOL.

First and foremost shout out to DJ MOE who spun on a Saturday in July 2017. Hands down one of the top 5 hip hop sets I've ever heard.Vigen, who is one of the owners did a fantastic job with my reservation. I visited this lounge on a Saturday evening after I was drinking since 10a. Instead of ordering one of their very reasonably priced (for a club) bottles of liquor ($150 or $200) I opted for a bottle of wine ($50) and a hookah ($50 with two coal refills)I was in the area and arrived right when they opened around 9p. The place was empty, but that was fine with me :)Around 10-11 the crowd began to roll in and before you know it the club was jumping! Shay was our server and took excellent care of us! The bottle of wine, hookah, 2 coal refills and 6-8 Hennessys (I think) came up to around $200 which is a great valueOnly negatives I can think of are 1- this is a club with hookahs, not a hookah lounge. I thought I could vibe and have a conversation but the music was blasting since the doors opened. It was hard to talk to the person next to me. So if you like clubs, this is perfect. If you're looking to have a conversation, maybe talk outside? 2- they only put 2 coals on the hookah at a time when I heard 3 is standard.I WILL return here again and it's highly recommended for anyone looking to listen to real hip hop! Plenty of places to sit if you arrive before 11. Thanks for everything Phantom, kudos to you and your staff!

It was my birthday and all I really wanted to do was eat good food with good friends and then get ratchet, I can't help myself. I was in a desperate search to find a spot that played my jams all night long. I love San Diego but the hip hop scene is seriously LACKING out here and I looove rap music. Thankfully, yelp brought Phantom Lounge to my attention when I was on my serious hip hop birthday search. It was at the top of my list cause I kept seeing "littest hip hop set". Decision made. But hold up. First of all, yelp says this place opens at 8pm and some reviews mentioned you gotta get there early or it's hard to get in. Admittedly, I don't go out that often, so we showed up bright and early at 10pm and NOBODY was there. Like it was just us and maybe 2 other small groups. For at least 2 hours. I didn't mind because the music was bumping as promised and I couldn't stop singing/dancing/rapping! DJ was playing alllll my favorite songs and I was having the best time! But just so you know, the place is dead til like midnight. Whatever, I'm an only child, I can keep myself entertained! What I liked is that there are couches and stuff so there's a place to sit if your heels start to hurt your feet (not like I was sitting but I'm just saying). The only con to this is it makes it a little harder to mingle with other people cause everyone's kind of in their own section, but whatever. It's nice to have space to dance, I really wasn't looking to go to a club, I just wanted to get into some gangsta sheeit and Phantom delivered. It was a great time, I'm talking all the best new hip hop, straight up Rap Caviar/Hip Hop Nation type set (insert 3 flames emojis here) with some old school mixed up in there for the OGs. 2 of my friends and I shut the place down, legit "what happened to the music?" 2am type thing. So props to the DJ!!I almost died laughing when someone slid into my DMs a few days later asking, "Did I see you at Phantom Lounge this weekend?" What?! LMAO yes that was me.The staff were all cool and having a good time with us, so thanks, Phantom Lounge for a bomb birthday night!! I wanna come back!

We were excited that there is a NeoSoul night again, hoping it would be like ONYX Room's downstairs Tuesday NeoSoul night, word is the same planner manages it. The streets, even the main gaslamp street of fifth ave on a tuesday is littered with junkies and houseless. So you have to brave the sidewalks seeing people shoot up, strung out and miserable, knowing there are more transients than not, on the same street as you, walking to the club. Then it's $20, only cash, per person on a Tuesday! The DJ when we first arrived was lit, around 10:30. Although, there's really no dance floor and there is a good amount of hookah smoking with no doors or windows visible. Then around 11pm a band started that was great but the MC was hard to understand because the acoustics were awful but he had a great voice. The hostess did say there'd be a dj, then features, then a dj. When I saw the band I thought they'd jam with the MC singing and that was the feature. She should have just said open mic night. Some were good, some mediocre. $20 for that, not worth it!! We left before the dj came back on and it was close to midnight (they close at 1am). When was the dj coming back? Not to mention the drinks were expensive and selection was very limited like not even limes or an IPA. This is San Diego, it's practically criminal not to have an IPA in your bar. I'd like to give this more stars because I was excited and enjoyed the music but all in all it was absolutely not worth $20 CASH per person on a Tuesday night and worried about getting jumped by junkies or having your car broken into on the walk to and from your car.

I usually go to phantoms for NeoSoul Tuesdays but I went this weekend with San Diego Zombie Crawl and I had such a great time. The place was filled with great vibes and good music. Such a fun and different experience from Tuesdays. Will definitely be back!
