The service and the ambiance was a 10/10. Petterino's is located in the heart of the Loop on a corner, containing some classic Italian American charm. My party booked a same day reservation a few hours ahead and were seated upon arrival. Service was wonderful and we even raved about how the kitchen was able to split a portion onto two plates for two of us who were sharing a dish. They were extremely kind and understanding after I decided to cancel and replace my drink as well. It's a bit pricey but nothing too surprising considering the vibe of the restaurant. My whole party was extremely satisfied with their meals, however, I'm taking off one star for my dish being way too salty. For an almost $35 plate, too much salt was the last thing I was expecting in my meal. In addition, while I enjoyed the meal, I'm sure there are tons of other Italian spots to try in Chicago and for that reason, I probably will not be coming back for a full dinner in the future. Overall, I'd recommend this place for anyone staying nearby looking for a classic sit down dinner spot and drinks!

During my recent visit to Petterino's, I was greeted with a laid-back atmosphere and the appealing option of patio seating, which is always a nice touch, especially on pleasant days. The service was satisfactory, striking a balance between attentive and unobtrusive, allowing me to enjoy the ambiance without feeling rushed.Starting off with the drinks, I found them to be well worth the price. The bar menu offers a good selection, and the quality is certainly there, making it a highlight of the dining experience.I began my meal with the Tomato Bisque Soup, which was a delightful choice. It was rich, flavorful, and comforting--a perfect appetizer to whet the appetite. Unfortunately, the main course of Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo did not meet the same standards. The noodles were slightly overcooked, lacking the al dente bite one hopes for, and the chicken was undercooked, which was a disappointment in an otherwise beautiful setting.Despite this, the restaurant's interior is charming and inviting, adding to the overall positive experience. While there were some missteps with the food, Petterino's offers an inviting atmosphere and a pleasant spot for a drink and conversation.Feel free to make any adjustments or let me know if there's anything else you'd like to add!

Rating 3.5We really wanted to love this restaurant. It's on the corner of a busy street in the theatre district. There is limited outdoor seating and mostly indoor seating. We had made reservations for dinner before heading to the theatre. We arrived early and were asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating, since it was such a beautiful night we opted for outdoor seating. The outside area is along the indoor bar area and consists of a few tables and several two tops along the perimeter. Our server arrived quickly, and was polite. We didn't order additionalDrinks and placed our order - fettuccini Alfredo with chicken ($29) and large Caesar salad with chicken ($19). We were amazed at how fast our order arrived - maybe 5 minutes after we placed the order. Starting with the Alfredo - I think the pasta was homemade but the chicken was diced and premade and very dry. It seemed like an afterthought of the dish. The salad was okay, the dressing tasted homemade too, but they used the same dry chicken on it. Now this is when service really slowed down. Our server stopped by with the dessert menu and we ordered the Brookie, it's a chocolate chip cookie and brownie with gelato. Next time we'll pass on the dessert. It didn't taste fresh and was pretty hard. Overall the food was okay, but expensive for the quality we received. The ambience is excellent and loved the nearby location to the theatre.

I always enjoy dining here. The lunch specials are always delicious. On this occasion the scallops were prepared to perfection: perfectly seared & seasoned!

With limited time to have dinner before a show at the Chicago Theater we came across Petterino's. The food was excellent, the service was super fast and super friendly, and having dinner outside on such a beautiful evening just made our experience in downtown Chicago all the more romantic.

Not many options for vegetarians, but everything we got was great. Tomato Bisque was particularly delicious! Vibes at old time pub. Service was friendly and timely.

Dropped by before a show and they did a good job considering our time constraint. I loved checking out the caricatures on the walls!

Came here after the St Patrick's day parade and we were able to find a reservation when everything else was booked. We were sat quickly. The restaurant is nicely decorated and gives you a vibe of a classic old Italian restaurant. However, the food was unimpressive. My rigatoni was decent with good flavor but the steak frites was very bland. Also has the Brussels sprouts which were recommend by the server and it was also bland. The service is slow and unimpressive and I can see why this place has 3 stars on yelp. It's really a shame because it's in a good location with a lot of traffic but it seems like they got lazy and just figured people would come anyways. Would not eat here again.

I was worried after seeing several people state the quality had gone down since the pandemic. Other than the change from beautiful menus to simple paper ones, I didn't notice any decline in quality. We made reservations for 5p on a Thursday before a show. The bar area was packed with happy hour customers. We were seated immediately in the main dining area. The ambiance is the same it was pre pandemic. Very old school Chicago vibe and packed with people. Noise was a little loud, just from so many people, but no loud music, and I could mostly hear my friend without shouting. Our server, Jan, came up quite quickly, apologized for interrupting and said he could take drinks but understood if we were still getting settled. His demeanor was the perfect blend of welcoming and professional. He complimented our drink choices and seemed genuinely happy which increased our enjoyment of the evening. The bread came quickly. It had a lovely chew while still being quite moist and tender. Almost the consistency of cornbread although I don't think it was actually made from corn. Our meals came quickly too, and everything was done nicely. My friend had a fish special and practically licked her plate clean while I had the full Caesar with salmon. The salmon was a little on the smaller size which was perfect for me although perhaps a little more well done than I'd like but still quite good. The Caesar was fresh with a nice dressing. I would have preferred slightly less dressing but the flavor was good so it was fine but if you prefer lighter dressing, consider saying that or getting it on the side. The star of the night was the dessert. The fresh citrus tasted like the best of spring, while the silken texture gliding over my tongue was comforting in a joyful way. Both my friend and I stopped talking entirely to luxuriate in the bliss of slowly enjoying the lemon dessert. I loved the pairing of fresh strawberries with it and my friend loved the fresh mint. Perfect evening. If you want excellent service, ask for Jan.

We came here prior to a show as is the norm in this area. Very nice inside of the restaurant. There are caricatures of famous people who have eaten there all over the walls. Staff was friendly and quick with clearing and serving as the food was hot upon arrival. I guess they know how to get you in and out in time for your show. Bathroom was clean and easy to get to.We started with the prime meatballs. He liked them more than I did. They were tender but I didn't think anything other than that. I had the Steak Fritte. The steak was okay and the chimichurri sauce was not that great. Most I have had gave a nice garlic taste and this was missing. They pair it with those scrawny fries. My husband ordered the salmon and asked if he could have it blackened. They blackened the skin of the fish vs the fish which defeated the purpose. Salmon was still good.
