Peoria Cafe

Just had lunch at Peoria Cafe and the hubby and I left with huge grins on our faces! We each had the afternoon special of the 2-pc Beer Battered Friday Fish Fry...and yes...we could see the chef pouring the beer into the batter! Not only did we get 2 pieces of perfectly cooked cod for an extremely reasonable price (for a little more $$ you can also get the 4-pc dinner,) our dinners were served with French Fries (you could also get different potato choices,) Cole Slaw, a dinner roll, and tartar sauce. In a word...yum! The service is consistently cordial and friendly and the ambiance is extremely congenial and informal so we always look forward to dining there. It's a neighborhood restaurant that never fails to please! Four thumbs up...2 from and 2 from my husband!

If I could do a - I would This absolutely breaks my heart to write this review my family has been coming here for years...But ever since the restaurant changed ownerships it has slowly getting worse and worseBoth with Service and Food, which is so sadThe last three times I've gone in there they've ran out of something whether it be potatoes rolls and then when they did have potatoes, they were absolutely horrible. I didn't know it was possible to mess up a baked potato so bad.I've spoken to the owner several times in regards to items being out such as the rolls and so-and-so and her comment was I order when it's out it's out I've been in the service industry for most of my life and I can't even imagine telling a customer that no kind of empathy or apology simply just when they're out there out!!!So sad to say that, not just myself but my whole family will never go back there again

Wow. This used to be a pretty good place for a weekend breakfast. The Friday fish fry was awesome. I'm not sure what happened here, but the last half dozen trips to this place have been pretty brutal. The floors were filthy, tables need to be cleaned after we were seated and the bathrooms needed attention.The food is still edible, but barely. The lady at the check stand was rude when I asked about contactless payment, erroneously claiming that it cost them too much. The waitresses are not nearly as friendly as they used to be, and prices have gone through the roof. The fish dinner used to be $14, and now it's $20. We used to get the "all you can eat" as a to go order for about $22. Now it's $30 out the door. Sorry, the food and ambience is just not worth that.And it would seem that they just discovered cinnamon rolls, as that's all they want to talk about and keep trying to force them on us. We ordered them one time and they were horrible - dry and crunchy.We're done with this place. Caveat emptor.Update to respond to Peoria Cafe's reply:I understand that prices will not be the same 8 years later. But the prices are now out of our budget. Especially for food that doesn't meet our standards. And what I described (dirty floor, dirty tables, restroom needing attention) - it was definitely Peoria Cafe.I guess it was a "good run" while it lasted.

WTH?? Since the new owner took over things have not changed for the better. They took away the rewards program for loyal customers!, They no longer offer to go cups for beverages. This should be a given here in this hot climate. They have the jelly containers full of Grape jelly. That is because nobody likes this crap. Strawberry, orange marmalade, blackberry should be available. There is a reason those jelly things are always full of grape. NOBODY eats it!! It really does not matter what you write in these reviews because the owner does not even check any of them. LOL They are lucky that the cooks are still putting out good food. The server staff seems to be an endless revolving door of servers.

This was our first time here after family members recommended it to us. Great menu choices, I ordered the Cowboy which was a country fried steak with hash browns, eggs and toast. It was pretty good! We also ordered a freshly made cinnamon roll, they are pretty big and it came out still warm from the oven. The service was great, our waitress stayed on top of our drinks and made sure we were good. Would definitely come back.

My food was good no complaints on that. I was in a time crunch so I did not address this at the restaurant; however, I do feel it needs addressing. My receipt shows that I paid $6 for a side of fries. There was no price on the menu so I didn't know what to expect. The price one their online menu is $3.99. I looked at various items on the menu and guessed fried should be $3-4. I was SHOCKED to see $6.00. The only thing that was $6 that I could see were different meats. A salad was $5.49. Home fries I think were $3.99. Sorry but I think you are not being fair to customers with this pricing.

So. Much. Food! Do not come here if you don't have a hearty appetite. I ordered the Denver omelette (pictured) and there two slices of toast not pictured. Staff were nice and kept our glasses full. The place is your typical mom and pop diner and the bathroom was clean. I'd recommend you come ready to leave full.

Food is consistently good and the service is always good for me, been going there 25 plus years. Mike and Najet remodeled a few years back. New owners are raising prices outrageously, fish Friday better bring your own lemon and tartar sauce, they now charge for anything extra. No cups to go any longer. A soda is now $4.00, coffee is $3. I get it everything has gone up so I'd expect to pay a little more, but seriously? Mike and Najet would never have charged for extra lemon or tarter. It's part of doing business.

Eat here every Sunday . Great food, great staff, great service!! Recommend to all our friends. Jenny and Liz take very good care of us and always remember our tweaks to our orders. The fish fry on Fridays is epic. Really a great home town style restaurant.

I used to really enjoy going there but the last few times I've gone there for the fish fry and been disappointed with the food They used to be very good at giving you all the fixings that came with it but now we don't get dinner rolls Today we asked for a fish dinner to go and the waitress didn't ask us if we wanted 2 or 4 pieces so she wanted to increase her tip and gave us 4 pieces Got home with it and again no dinner rollBut the breakfast was good and they have big cinnamon rolls.
