Peachy's Express

I've been intermittently shopping at Peachy's two grocery stores for years. They are one of the few places nearby that you get ingredients for Middle Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean food. I've never been a fan of the restaurant side of their business. Like the closed and similarly unremarkable Greek American Family restaurant, it's there if you have a certain cuisine itch needing to be scratched.That said, I had high hopes for Peachy's Express. Admittedly, they had some big culinary shoes to fill. Tiko Tiko, the previous tenant of this gas station/carwash location, served some of the best kebabs I have had in the US (they never found their clientele, sadly). So while I was hoping for something good, I kept my expectations under control.Alas, no such luck. While the ingredients themselves are pretty good, the food has the same lackluster quality as one gets at the other Peachy's locations. The biggest issue is the blandness of it all. This type of food should pop with a variety of flavors. Here, everything fizzles into one inchoate mass. The tastes are pedestrian, and one wonders if the spices and preparation techniques used in certain traditional dishes have been dialed way down for more oblivious palates.After two goes, Peachy's Express is not a place that I can return to in good conscience. It fills, but it does not satisfy.

I loved their chicken shawrma wrap (: the place is family owned, the owners are very kind and friendly. The ambiance transferred me to the 80s, I'm glad my boyfriend got me here! They even gave us free samples of tacos

Great Mediterranean food and awesome service. Delicious food and huge portions. A must try in Encinitas.

Wow, I've never had such great food in a convenient store before. They gave me a ginormous serving of this beautiful chicken from the rotisserie on a pita and oh my god-so delicious. Such a nice find!

Peachy's Express is great! What a pleasant surprise! This place I knew would be good because of the original Peachy's down the road in Encinitas.Located inside the Shell gas station and car wash by McDonald's. Surprise right? But the food is healthy and delicious. The family that runs this place makes it even better.If you're local or just passing through, you like good food, you like healthy food... give this place a shot.Their Mediterranean cuisine is awesome, and the managers have sprinkled in some staple Mexican dishes.You won't be disappointed.PS... Their chicken kebabs... just hit different!

Great food and absolutely a fantastic run family owned business. Make sure to try the chicken sandwich!
