Paya Thai Fish & Chips

I can't believe I haven't posted a review for this place. I've been here a few times since 2018 yet I was only able to locate two food pix. Oh my! =) LOL! I've ordered the Fish and chips a few times and it is delicious. Service is great. The dining vibe is great. I need to come back and eat here soon again. I'm craving fish and chips. Haha!

This is our 2nd visit to this charming restaurant. The people are very friendly & welcoming.We again ordered a 2 & a 3 piece halibut. Again, we were given a 3 & a 4 piece dinner. Generous portions, fresh delicious halibut, nice texture & cooked perfectly! The wonderful lady who helped us was very gracious & also gave us a piece of cod. It had a different breading which was crunchy but still fresh & flaky & yummy! Totally worth the trip & the pricing is very fair, especially since they always seem to give you extra. Highly recommend going here & will be coming again very soon!

Great food & prompt friendly service. This is our favorite fish and chips restaurant in Tacoma.

Took the T line to the Freight House Square and ordered the Fish and Shrimp special. At $20.95 I was thinking it was a bit expensive. That is until they put this pile of fish and shrimp in front of me. I couldn't even eat half of it and I'm no light weight. I ate the other half today and promptly fell asleep in my recliner. I got 2 complete meals from that plate. The fish and shrimp were perfectly cooked and I really enjoyed the fries. It's a family run place and they are very welcoming. I enjoyed the experience. If you like your fish fried head to Paya Thai Fish and Chips.

I had fish, shrimp, and clams with fries. Food was delicious, fast and fresh. Customer service was on par! Very friendly, attentive and sweet. I would definitely come back again!

Though tempted to award a 3-3.5, I've generously rounded up. This establishment buzzed with patrons--a testament to its standing among local fish and chip spots. Their clam chowder had character, albeit a tad too rich in potatoes and thick in consistency for my palate. The coleslaw? An absolute delight! The fries? Sheer perfection. Yet, the halibut was regrettably a overcooked and dry. The tartar sauce, a commendable accompaniment. While patience was required for service, it's often the price of freshness. Speaking of price, at roughly $32 for the ensemble, one might opine it leaned towards the pricier end for 3 pieces of fish. Alas, the pièce de résistance of my experience was the tropical ambience inside--quite literally. The warmth nudged us to an alfresco dining adventure on the sidewalk. Ideal for most days, but on the peak of summer, a tad overwhelming.While the balmy interiors, a hint of a wait, the price, and our dry fish nudged my rating downwards, I remain on the fence about a return. I might explore the local culinary tapestry further before making an encore.

Really good fish and chips, all cooked fresh and correctly. No soggy or oily fish or fries (that is how you know they have the oil at the right temp!).Service was especially friendly and the presentation was great! There were some TVs on with football which was an extra bonus.I found this place on yelp. I wanted fish and chips, and this was a great find in a little food court.I would come here again if I was in the area. Seating is in a common area in the middle of all the food stalls, so if you already have a drink from somewhere else, I think it is acceptable to have your outside drink along with your food.There is a bathroom, but you need to get a code. There is parking on the street and at a lot across the street.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tacoma. Definitely THE BEST fish and chips around. Fast, super friendly, freshly prepared and huge portions. The fish is crispy and tender, the fries are perfectly seasoned and the tartar and chowder are both delicious! Prices are very reasonable. Presentation is always top notch, even on takeout orders. Love the little American flag.

Got the plate that comes with 2 Cod, fries and coleslaw. The fountain drink was extra. I got an entire small paper bag filled with vinegar, salt, pepper, ketchup and napkins. The food was piping hot and delicious. Huge pieces of fish, glad I got 2 and not 3 as I barely finished 1/2 of one! The older gentleman was so nice, he brought me my food and even checked in me a few minutes later.

Fish & Chips 4.7/5 overall.Crispness 5/5. Batter 5/5. Fish quality 5/5. Flavor 5/5. Fries 4/5. Size and value 4/5.The best fish & chips in the south sound. I have been here more times than I can count over the last 15 years and they are always consistently the best. There really is no comparison to anywhere in the tri county area, Cod or Halibut, both are amazing! If you want the best it's Paya Thai, trust me I try them all!
