Parakeet Cafe

This place is Bustling in the AM. It can be confusing at first as they have split the place into two joined spaces divided by a private central staircase to the 2nd floor. One side are fresh juices and smoothies the other, food and coffees. You can tell which side is which by the sound of the 100db blender. Lots of simple "designer" framed prints, a few neon signs and stenciled windows provide accents. Cool pastel paint themes that similarly "divide" spaces geometrically.But everything is pretty cohesive, and hip like the painted-on Lululemon leggings crowd. A very efficient and friendly staff drops orders to tables, busses tables and refill self-serve water stations.Brunch, juices, coffees and outdoor tables are what they seem to do best.Avocado Toast is on every table. But it's a beautiful colorful presentation befitting of unique IG and FB posts.Green Eggs scramble, (but not ham) is also tasty and cool (hip) with a huge dose of chlorophyll, spinach, and asparagus.It's very tasty and colorful. Roast potatoes could have used 5-7 additional minutes in the oven.Overall a pleasant visit, nice bright location on the main drag.

They definitely have a healthy menu and friendly service. But they are either missing product training and what the customers would expect. 1. 2 out of 3 smoothies I buy is always chunky - either ice or fruit. The point is if I want a bowl I will get one but when I buy a smoothie I want to be able to drink it.2. I raise the issue to local teams frequently. No one offers to make it again getting concerned about customer satisfaction. I tried to reduce complaining but when I pay $10+ per smoothie it should be more satisfying.

Cute place I found on Yelp and thought I'd check it out. We got here around 6:45 & the guy waited 5 min to take our order. Before he even took our order he said we close in 10 minutes so whatever you order will be to go, however the ppl that ordered after us their food was brought out in glass plates and they were able to eat at the restaurant, so that was pretty rude! I ordered the acai bowl and it was just a melted smoothie in a bowl. Ordered the maple latte and it was just watered down coffee. My mother ordered a smoothie. The server didn't bother telling us that the smoothie and acai bowl would be ready for pick up in the next door establishment. I asked for a bag to put our stuff in and the guy put the acai bowl in and slanted it so when I opened the bowl it was all dripping. Overall rude and everything we ordered was mediocre! Don't recommend and would never come back

My friend and I originally had plans to get brunch at the Henry across the street, but the wait was wayyyy too long, so we opted for parakeet cafe! (By the time we ate and left parakeet cafe, we got a text from the Henry to let us know our table was ready). Anywayyy, it's a cute little spot. Very nicely decorated and yummy food, too!! I ordered a Belgian waffle and a honey cinnamon latte. So good!!! And my friend ordered a gluten free eclair, poblano eggs Benedict, and some kind of latte. Highly recommend coming here with the girlies for brunch if you're in the area!

The staff were really nice, but overall I probably wouldn't come back to eat. I asked the cashier what the most popular salad was, and she recommended the green goddess salad, so I got it, and it wasn't great. I added a sausage patty which ultimately was the best part. The dressing was a bit bitter and there was barely any of it, and despite being a cute photo-worthy plate, underneath the top layer was simply all .... Just semi-dry spinach. My partner ordered the burger & loved it though, he adored the sauce, so he'd definitely return!

I come here when I would like some escape to treat myself a nice latte and they definitely have all kinds of healthy food!! The service was super nice and one of them knows some finger spelling in ASL which is very generous! The entrance was like sooooooooo tropical and plenty of seating for you and your family! Definitely like a parakeet style in that restaurant!

Food: So... thought it was a health food place but didn't quite know the extent until we got there! I had the Thai salad, my wife had the eggs Benedict. I have to say, if all vegan food was this delicious, I could totally be vegan! The salad I think had a peanut type sauce on top, it was very good! The mint latte was really good too... but... I got the mushroom cacao chai and... did not really like it. To each, his own but I would not order this again. However, I wanted to try something new and I did, so I am not giving them a low score for me being adventurous! ;)Atmosphere: Divvy place inside plus there is a balcony up top you can sit at. Pretty cool view and it is away from all of the stuff going on at the ground level. There is a juice shop connected to it as well... also cool! Lots of healthy options.Price: Healthy, delicious, price - you can only pick two. Ha! It could be healthy and cheap, but it probably doesn't taste good. Or it is delicious and cheap, but it isn't healthy. This place is not super expensive, but for my wife and I for a small lunch and drinks was 65$. Now, it's in Coronado too so perhaps location is also a part of it. But like I always say in my reviews, as long as the food is good, I don't mind the price.Service: I'm still confused with places like this. You have to go to the counter to order and then they bring the food to you, so are you supposed to tip? No one came to refill waters or check up on us so... am I supposed to give a 15% tip for someone to walk my food up to me? If I just went to get it myself, do I still need to tip? I dunno... I wish they would just come order at your table because then I would have no problem tipping.Overall: It's not a bad place plus, since it is healthy, it felt good afterwards. The downsides - it's a little pricier than I expected and the tipping situation is weird. Also, the mushroom chai was not very good, to me at least. If anyone reading this has tried it and thought it was good, please let me know, perhaps I just don't have the palette for it.

It's like my second time coming here when visiting coronado. The cafe is small, has good foot traffic, good food, decent drinks. The staff are friendly.I definitely liked their croissant sandwich and their acai bowl which was decent as the acai melted partially when I got served it. Overall it's a cute place to 100% check out when in the location, just don't sit up top or you'll smell like smoke haha

Great atmosphere and diverse menu at this local chain, but I found my açaí bowl to be a little too sweet. The coffee menu is also huge and I ordered a mint iced latte with almond milk. I got it less sweet and this was super good and was highly caffeinated. Sadly, the classic açaí bowl was a little plain on ingredients and toppings and tasted like there was some added sugar which it doesn't need. The strawberries and bananas on top were fresh but the granola was so hard I thought it would break my teeth. I'd come back and maybe try lunch, but solid coffee stop!

Açaí bowl was warm (room temperature) and soupy when served. It took almost 30 minutes to come out - not sure if it was made incompetently or if it was just sitting out for 15-20 minutes before it was served. Outrageous for a $16 açaí bowl which was composed of 50% sliced banana.
