I can't believe that Papa's in Monroe only has a handful of reviews at the time I'm writing mine. This is a solid place where regulars are coming in from all over the valleys along highway 2. They definitely have their share of regulars. This is family owned and run by family. This is definitely a solid spot if you're looking to keep your money local.LOCATION: Papa's is located right on Main St in the heart of old town Monroe. The building was built in 1900. You can't really tell from the outside since it appears that roofing renovations were done in the 60s to update the look. I would imagine that there is brick behind the painted walls of this place. The longtime residents tell me that this place has always been a bar, but no exact start date is known as it has changed hands over the years.INDOOR VIBE: I mostly hang out during the day. The place clearly has its share of regulars. I'm meeting people who live in town, but there are plenty of others who live east in Skykomish Valley. I'm absolutely amazed by the breadth of conversation that happens here, lending credibility to the diversity that exists in this part of the county. It's definitely heavy on the blue collar vibe here, which is my jam even though I don't work nearly as hard as some of the regulars. There is a lot of good conversation happening here. And the selling point here is that the AC always works. I mention this because it has been a haven through the heat waves.PATIO: There is a patio in the back. It is covered. It is a nice spot for hanging out if you want some fresh air.DART & POOL LEAGUES: I don't normally write about this, but I think the fact that the venue supports these leagues is a good thing. This really does lend to a community feel that exists at this place.FOOD: They had a menu awhile back, but no more. It looks like I missed out on the gizzards. As of the time of writing this review, they are picking up on smaller items from the crock pot counter. Otherwise, there is a wealth of food options nearby for bringing in your own.BOOZE: They have a good selection of beers and ciders on tap and in bottles. Not as extensive as what you may find at cideries or brewhouses. But their selection of craft drinks is solid for me. They also have the standards for the well known American breweries on tap and in bottles. They have a full bar and some wines available. You definitely get your money's worth here with their cocktails.SERVICE: Since the first day I've been coming here, the service has been stellar. The girls put in their work for sure. The bar manager doesn't mess around. She definitely has a handle on things. The first day I met her she told me that this is a place for everybody. It really does seem that way to me.In short, this is a solid spot for area residents. With blue collar bars disappearing everywhere else, I'm glad to Papa's is here. If you're looking for flashy signs and Justin Timberlake on the jukebox, you'll need to go elsewhere.

They keep skipping my song on the jukebox and it costs me a lot of money. I wish they wouldn't.

Awesome little dive bar that places an emphasis on being like home. Some of the best deals in the state, we got a pumpkin ale for a dollar a glass! The owner levels with you which i love, and they always have the local games on the tv.

Bartender gave our card to someone else. Unbelievable. Comped us 20 on a 50 dollar tab. Ridiculous......still don't have my debit card back because she gave it to someone else by mistake. Fucking serious?

A few of us met at Papa's for Taco Tuesday.Free parking can be found on the street. Discover is an accepted form of payment.Papa's is dog friendly; there were a few running around off-leash.Taco Tuesday = two crunchy $3 or two soft for $4: beef or pork. Papa's does not have a kitchen so the taco meat is in crock pots and the toppings on the table. It was unclear to me who did the actual cooking.Pints of beer were $6.25 each; a bit overpriced for the place and area. There are a couple pool tables and dart boards. Pull tabs are on-site but unavailable to play. We were not given a reason as to why we couldn't play them, just told "no".Clientele are regulars for sure. Both the clientele and the staff were unwelcoming and judgmental.Do yourself a favor and head over to Keg -N-Cue instead of stopping into Papa's. Once was a enough for me.

I found papas a couple months back. All the bartenders are so amazing and attentive despite the influx of people once JR Phinickeys closes. Tammy is absolutely amazing and always makes me feel seen and helped. There's no food served here but you can get it delivered. 2 pool tables and 2 dart boards and a TouchTunes jukebox! Also a back door smoking section with TVs and plenty of covered seating. Great please if you're good for it.
