Pacifica Del Mar

Great restaurant option right in the middle of a charming shopping area in Del Mar. Tables extend out to a patio with ocean views. We had a very nice lunch with some decent food. What we ate: - TUNA POKE NACHOS (4.25/5): Really tasty dish. All the toppings were fresh and worked well together. Be careful of the hot red peppers. They pack a punch! - CRISPY CALAMARI (4/5): Nice and fresh calamari. Batter was fairly light. Dipping sauces were flavorful. - sourdough bread (4/5)Service was friendly and attentive. Promptly served us food and was very helpful.

The location is really nice and the atmosphere is wonderful and that's mostly what you're paying for. The view is beautiful and even better at sunset. The area is lively and nice to walk around after dinner. Service was professional and checked in a decent amount. The food and drinks were mediocre but okay if you're coming for the atmosphere. The grapefruit martini and beer was good but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing on tap available. Bread was really delicious and came out piping hot and very tasty and chewy. Highly recommend!Calamari quite bready but came in a generous portion. The squid was a lot softer than I'm used to. There were mixed opinions about the chimichurri sauce and I thought the other one was much better. Poke nachos were good but the fish was kind of mushy. I thought the ratio of topping to nacho was perfect and the flavor was great. Crab cakes were also pretty mushy but well fried. Arugula on the side was crisp!We were pretty full from that and the appetizers were not encouraging so we didn't end up getting a main. I would recommend this place for drinks during sunset but not for dinner.

Pacifica has been around for a long time and it's because they know how to make good seafood. I really enjoyed the halibut and the crudo, and their other non-seafood dishes were good too like the spinach salad and their Pacifica Burned Cream dessert (this one is a MUST TRY!). Their cocktails are okay. Service is great, they're very accommodating and provide excellent recommendations. Plus the view is beautiful, great for a date night! Parking is paid under the restaurant or free on the street.

Headed in to Pacifica for a late lunch when Monarch was too loud. I got the fettuccine and added chicken. For $16.00 plus $5.00 add on for chicken I was disappointed. The pasta was pasta. The sauce was really thin rather than a rich/heavy fettuccine. Peas were fine and there was a scattering of asparagus chunks but enough to practically miss it was there at all. The chicken was delicious but I wished there was more of it. I wrestled with how many stars to give. In my heart if the whole thing had been $16.00 it would have been decent but at $22.00 I wanted it to be better. HOWEVER, thinking about how expensive every thing has gotten post CoviD I guess this is a solid option for $22.00. I think my gripe is I was wanting a more indulgent pasta experience and this was more of a budget outing so I was let down. The view was lovely and the outside area is quite nice! I'd still definitely go back but with the idea in mind that I'm here for the wine (which was great) and the view! Not so much the food. A complaint that I did not factor in to this score (because it has nothing to do with Pacifica) is the parking in the structure is free only for an our and is then $3.00 for every 30 minutes after. I was so disappointed because I wanted to stay and study and have some more wine but my meal took exactly that whole hour. I think next time I'll park elsewhere and stick to wine and apps!

Sending my highest compliments to the chef for the fantastic halibut and salmon dishes. While the bok choy was overcooked and soggy, the halibut, sticky rice, and curry sauce that they were served on top of were unbelievably delicious. The sourdough was fresh, perfectly crisp and crunchy crust with a soft and chewy center. I also loved the Mulligatawny soup, though I did find it a tad heavy on the salt and not super forward on the curry flavor. My one complaint was the excessively slow speed of service. It took us 1.5 hours to get our food, so not sure if they went out fishing before playing their dinner. It tasted fresh enough to be possible ;)

View was amazing, located right in the middle of town in a restaurant hub. I had made a Tuesday, 7:30 dinner reservations for 2 on TOCK, requesting a window seat with a view along with letting them know we were celebrating an Anniversary. We did not use the parking garage, we found street parking. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated at a table with a view. It took a while for our sever to acknowledge us sitting there, finally he came over and introduced himself: Kaleb.We ordered cocktails while deciding on what to order. We order a 1/2 dozen Oysters on the half shell, the Mixed Greens Salad, Steamed Mussels and Pan Roasted Alaskan Halibut. The Oysters were excellent along with the Halibut. Salad was good, Mussels were big and fresh but the broth was very blah, not much taste. Our server Kaleb was OK, not the friendliest, very disinterested as I took not the other servers very energetic with customers celebration Birthday well wishes. So all in all an OK meal with OK service. BUT to note Management Customer service was excellent! We left our Credit Card and we were immediately informed with a phone call that it would be put in a safe and could be picked up the following day. So thank you! Atmosphere: very nice, worth the view. Food: OK. Service: OK

While I love Pacifica, my experience last night was awful. Summer night after the track and boiling hot inside. I'm sure they probably don't have AC being coastal, but really need to invest in other air ventilation (fans etc.). I had one drink and I couldn't stand it anymore and left.

All I can say is WOW! The food 5/5 service was amazing. Julie was so knowledgeable, sweet, funny and honestly had the best takes on the food. She knew the menu and all the details. We went for anniversary dinner and she made us feel so special! She gave me great service and felt like I've know her for years. Best anniversary dinner I've had yet. Everyone that we encounter was the sweetest. I can't wait for my next special occasion so I can come back!!!
