Located on the Mag Mile, Osteria del Pastaio is a must try Italian Spot that crafts artisanal pastas daily, bakes fresh bread every morning, and offers handcrafted seasonal desserts and candies. While all of the food I tried was delicious, the standout dish is the pasta from a Pecorino cheese wheel! ~ Focaccia ~ Caesar Salad with Shrimp ~ Pecorini al tartufo nero ~ Cremosa Cake with strawberry balsamic gelato ~ Prosecco & Chianti Classico

After hearing ALL about the viral cheese wheel pasta on social media, I was sooo excited to try out Osteria del Pastaio! The hype was definitely deserved regarding this pasta - I mean WOW!! It was super rich, cheesy, and truffley - all very promising words in my vocabulary. The true star of the show in my opinion was the pesto pasta! I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor in this dish - we were blown away! It was creamier than many of the pestos that I've had before which made it so so so delicious. The passionfruit cheesecake was also delicious! Many of the comments mentioned their dissatisfaction with the water being charged - you just have to ask for tap water if you don't want to pay for still or sparkling water bottles :) they are happy to serve it! My only complaint about this meal was the lobster bisque. It was a bit watery for my liking and tasted a bit fishy for my liking...plus for $21 per small bowl, it was just way too expensive. The chunks of lobster in it were good though! **Please note - I am a content creator and was reached out to for my honest opinion in exchange for the meal - however all of my opinions are my own & very much honest!**

I was staying at a hotel down the street and decided to check out osteria del pastaio. I had arrived around 6 pm and was going to sit out on the patio but there was an infant screaming so I decided to sit at the bar inside. The bartender was quick to approach me with the wine menu. I ordered the over priced Pinot Grigio and the home made Cacio e Pepe. The pasta was super fresh but had 0 flavor. The pasta wasn't even really Cacio e pepe, just butter with some green flavoring? I am not really sure. No parm/bread/oil/cracked pepper offered. Left before I even thought about dessert.

Finally got to check out the cheese wheel experience! I will say that it's pricey but you do get a lot of pasta. I would recommend sharing with 1-2 other people. We had three ladies and still took some home. The pasta is tasty but I wouldn't spend that to get it again, I would try something different. The experience lasts just a minute but worth doing if you're with a group or on a special occasion. We also got the chicken dish which was tasty and the endive salad which we enjoyed.Good wine selection, mid to high pricing.I would say I thoroughly enjoyed the meal but with so much Italian in Chicago, prob would opt for another spot to try something new.

A solid find and the kitchen is open until 10:30! Located just off Michigan Ave near Fourth Presbyterian Church and The Four Seasons Hotel. FOOD Each item was bursting with flavor and very reasonably priced. Roasted rabbit tenderloin wrapped in crispy prosciutto- 5/5 Penne Arrabbiata with sausage - 3/5 *full of flavor and fresh short pasta though not a fave. I wouldn't be inclined to order it again. Sautéed Calamari with Shrimp - 4/5 Gnocchi short rib - 5/5 (gluten free option available) SERVICE Service was what you'd expect close to closing. AMBIANCE The chairs in the restaurant have seen better days almost every seat in the front of the restaurant have a clear view of who heads to and leaves from the bathroom. MISCELLANEOUS There's a 3% charge for using a credit card. We dined as walk ins at 10:20p on a Friday night and things were pretty quiet. In terms of occupancy, there were a couple of other diners who were wrapping up their meals while we were there.

There is a little slice of Italy right here in Chicago and it's here at Osteria del Pasatio. I've been seeing the amazing pasta that this restaurant makes in that drool worthy cheese wheel and I had to get here! From beginning to end my experience, here was great! I had a very attentive waiter, who was more than patient with walking my guest and I through the menu to answer any questions. The lamb chops we tried were cooked as requested. It's all too common for an establishment to not be able to cook lamb chops properly, but they got it right! 8/10The start of the show is the pasta in the cheese wheel! I can honestly say that it is some of the best pasta I've EVER had. It's made in a pecorino cheese wheel with shaved black truffles, mushrooms and more. I'd gladly eat another full plate RIGHT NOW! Definitely a 10/10!!!Swing by to try their famous cheese wheel and let me know how much you love it and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!

This was my third visit to the restaurant. Service is as good as before. The menu is small but contains many good choices. We split the calamari and a salad. I ordered the Bucatini Carbonara. Very good but not up to the same standards as the Carbonara I have had in Italy. My neice had the Ravioli Di Aragosta and loved it. Reasonablie priced wine list.I really like the vibe and the service at this establishment. Very good price/value relationship.

This was my second time dining here in such a cozy spot in the heart of Gold Coast. Our server was exceptional and made great recommendations. You have to try the famous cheese pasta! Great selection of appetizers and entrées. Their cocktail menu could stand to be a bit longer, but tons of options for wine! I will definitely be coming back.

Thad a really pleasant experience here! Our waiter was really attentive and made sure to go the extra mile with his service. We ordered the Caprese Salad, Focaccia, Penne Arrabbiata, and their famous pasta in the cheese wheel called Pecorini Al Tartufo Nero - it's a pasta prepared in a 50 pound Pecorino cheese wheel with tossed with wild mushrooms, peas, leeks, and freshly shaved truffles. It was very rich but tasty. You definitely should order the Pecorini Al Tartufo Nero to share because after a few bites I was getting full from the heaviness. Also side note the truffle flavor is very intense, if you love truffles you will really like this dish. If you don't, you can order without!Based on the size of the pasta, I would recommended sharing the plates! The Penne Arrabiata was definitely my favorite of the dishes! We ended with their mango cheesecake which was amazing. I would 100% order it again.we were seated in the corner booth and it was a very cozy ambiance
