The Catfish Place was recommended by a local airboat guide whose Aunt works in the kitchen. We wanted to find a place where the locals eat that served gator, and we found it! We got the gator and frog legs with a side of fresh corn on the cob and two imported beers. Man, did it hit the spot! We learned on our air boat ride there are enough gators in Florida for all the residents and tourists to have one, so we figured this was our opportunity to try it as a food. The service here was friendly and fast. We enjoyed the fried gator and the corn on the cob, served with plenty of butter, was the perfect compliment. Also their cocktail and tartar sauce were delicious! The menu says, "where the locals come to eat" and tht seemed to ring true. There was a birthday being hosted there, plenty of couples and families, and barely an empty table. I highly recommend coming. You'll feel like family and be glad you did!

Fried Catfish Platter ReviewThe Fried Catfish Platter from The Catfish Restaurant, paired with cheese grits, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, and fried dill pickles, is a Southern feast that hits all the right notes. The catfish is the star of the show--fried to perfection with a crispy, golden crust and tender, flaky fish inside. The cornmeal breading is well-seasoned, adding a satisfying crunch without being overly greasy. The cheese grits are creamy and rich, with just the right amount of sharpness from the cheese, making them a perfect sidekick to the catfish. The hush puppies are a delight--slightly sweet, with a moist interior and a crunchy exterior, a comforting classic done right. The fried green tomatoes are a revelation: tangy, crisp, and flavorful, with a light coating that allows the tomatoes to shine. Meanwhile, the fried dill pickles offer a briny, tangy burst of flavor, balanced by their crispy coating. The house-made ranch ties it all together. It's thick, herby, and fresh, ideal for dipping everything from the pickles to the hush puppies. This platter is an indulgent celebration of Southern comfort food. Each bite brings a perfect blend of texture and flavor, leaving you full but tempted to order more. The service was also exceptional our waitress was attentive and on point every time

Recently visited- prices are high for the value and the breading has changed. One person- early bird special was $35 - shrimp/catfish with two sides. Two sides- corn that was frozen and horrible the okra was not fresh and breading was tasteless. Not recommended!

Every single time we visit The Catfish Place, we are greeted promptly, sat quickly, and receive the best service and food. I'd love to tell you something they could improve in those aspects, but I just can't think of anything. Prices are very fair and the restaurant is always clean and the ambiance inviting and comfy. The old owners have retired, but the new owners haven't missed a beat. Thank you CP for always serving up a delicious meal and delivering perfect service. I also appreciate being able to pay at the table now with Apple Pay!!

THE BEST CHEESE GRITS BY FAR!!!!It has been years since I stepped to this place. It has been remodeled nicely. No more bear head sitting on top of you while eating LOLThe remodeled area has more seating and has more country modern feel. I am unsure if new management or owners stepped in but it def has a new feel to it. Same southern hospitality friendly personalities and the server I had was kind. So the menu here is MOSTLY fried. a small section is broiled and boiled seafood options. They serve I hear good alligator bites here and they also serve turtle. The gumbo and cheesy grits along with the key lime pie stood out for me. The sweet tea here is served in a pitcher once you request a refill. Saves you from calling a server for drink refills.Let's talk about the food.Usually I order a platter of fried shrimp etc.Today new year means kinda healthy kick.... LOLThe GUMBO - It was a soup chowder like filled with rice sausage shrimp okra tomato based broth chunky soup and it was filling. A little bit spicy but my first time eating gumbo so it was nothing for me to compare it to. I will order it again. Wished the bowl was bigger! It was delicious. Cheesy Grits - THE BEST GRITS BY FAR! I have had my share of grits and this one here is the best! Creamy and rich and cheesy. I could eat a whole small pot of this! I left this place after dining in thinking about these grits! DEF order this and add a fried fish or shrimps to it! Key lime pie - This is not house made per server but its a popular dessert from them. It was served with whip cream. The pie is sweet and tangy but for me it had more sweet notes. I could not finish it all and took the rest home. Its a smooth pie and tasty. I would def come back here again especially for the cheese grits!

I was dining with my wife and the server bring the check before we're even done with the food and stand over us with her kiosk waiting for payment also charge 3% for using a credit card this is a shame. I have been dining here for a long time now the prices are high. The food is still really great, however I didn't like their coleslaw, tasted fishy. We also were seated in the back room area that look like it was designed to be for private parties instead of being sat in the main dining. room even though the place was empty. There is no ambience in this place, it's always been like a cafeteria setting but the food, the prices and the service we're always great, so we didn't care.

In town w friends for a few rounds of golf: got rained out the first day so the 8 of us stopped in for a quick bite midday on a Saturday. Experience: ideal example of why i often give a place more than one chanceFOOD 3: Everyone enjoyed their foodFried snapper, catfish, potato skins, shrimp, coleslaw, hushpuppies, (crinkle) fries, sweet potato A solid 3, average...no complaints but also no "best I've ever had"SERVICE 3: a couple of mix up of sides, missing a side, and never being brought a drink. But also, accommodating a change when the customer erred on an order. A solid 3...average. The one of us who comes here ALL the time, unfortunately rec'd the most "wanting" service. However he felt it was not indicative of the norm, so would return againAMBIENCE 3: folksy, family friendly, basic square tables w chairs, "diner" atmosphere. Was so hungry, failed to take pics till too late

Been considering stopping here for years. A little conflicted, fried pickles and fried green tomatoes very good, catfish was cooked very well and pretty tasty, although I prefer a bit more seasoning and spice. The Cole slaw was good, my wife loved it. The fried shrimp may have been overcooked and no seasoning, the chicken tenders where nicely cooked very tender, however no flavor. The staff and service was excellent, the treated me like a regular who had been coming for years. All and all I would recommend two off dishes isn't enough to say that this was a bad experience since there was so much more that was good, plus my personal preference for seasoning isn't enough to not recommend, so if your out on 192 and in St Cloud stop on by.
