Shakai is a restaurant/lounge in the Downtown Orlando area that has been around for many years.Located near the heart of the Orlando's bar scene is Shakai tucked in between various bars. They do also become a lounge after hours where all the seats are moved to make it for more of a club type of scene. When you walk in you'll be greeted to a dimly lit environment that is illuminated with various light fixtures. It does lend itself to being more of a date night or appetizers and drinks with friends type of environment. The room is fairly spacious with ample seating, we didn't have reservations but were seated immediately on a Friday night. Our hostess was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a variety of appetizers to start including a miso soup, crab rangoons, shrimp shumai, katsu and a bento box.The miso soup was very salty, haven't had miso soup this salty before. The crab rangoons were quite good, included what I believe was actual real crab and the cream cheese filling wasn't over the top.The shrimp shumai wasn't my favorite, the texture was very soft for me.The katsu was very crispy and seasoned well, the sauce to go with it paired quite nicely. The bento box included steak, shrimp, veggies and noodles and everything was quite good. The noodles were cooked very well and the veggies had a nice char to them. The bottom line, this is a decent spot with decent food with a relaxed environment. Since the food options Downtown are limited this is a decent spot to get some food in between getting drinks. If I came back it would be strictly for appetizers.

Had a great time here! This restaurant is located right in downtown orlando. We went for happy hour because we just couldn't pass up the deals!! Sushi rolls priced between $4- $6 and amazing drink prices. The ambiance was EVERYTHING. Low lighting, chill music, beautiful things to look at. The service was pretty quick for a Saturday night. I wasn't a huge fan of the sake-tini due to sweetness but my husband loved it. We ordered the fireball roll, orlando roll and the alaska roll. They are not kidding when they named the 'fireball' its name. This roll was SPICY!!! Flavors were fresh and sushi was good. It might not be the best sushi ever but for the vibes, prices and drinks it was 100% worth it and we will definitely be making this a happy hour staple for us. Can't wait to return!

Literally the best happy hour in town! I was hesitant to post this review because I didn't want them to get too popular and raise prices lol. The value and taste is what keeps us coming back anytime we're in the downtown area during happy hour. The signature sushi rolls are chefs kiss and the servers are always amazing and helpful. Its a downtown vibe so the vibe is pretty social and energetic.

I wanted to love this place! The ambiance is really lovely and our waitress was top notch! We went during happy hour right when it opened. We tried the veggie tempura appetizer and spring rolls with this amazing sauce. We ordered nearly every specialty roll on the menu!! We liked several of the rolls, but overall, the sushi was just mid. The price was great, but the flavor just wasn't there and the quality of ingredients were not quite up to par for me. Our favorite was the "Rock and Roll" with Lobster & crab mix, cream cheese, tempura fried w/spicy mayo & masago. We also liked the "Mango Madness Roll" with Tempura krab, avocado topped with tuna, mango, scallions & spicy mayo; and "Crazy Coconut Roll" with Coconut shrimp, baked coconut flakes, eel sauce & scallion. I'm glad we tried this place when we were visiting Orlando, but wouldn't go back.

Awesome sushi spot located in Downtown Orlando. They have a great happy hour menu with sushi, apps and drinks on special. The interior is beautiful with lots of wood and an upscale vibe. We got four sushi rolls to share, two apps and 4 drinks on happy hour and our total was $60. They had some unique rolls, one with crawfish in it and another which we got that was deep fried and had lobster, both of which were included on the HH menu! I've been hearing about this place for a while and i'm happy we finally made it in. Downtown has changed a lot over the last few years but i'll venture down there for Shakai sushi!

Every time we go downtown for something, we have to go to Shakai! They have the BEST happy hour deals in all of Orlando! They have a ton of variety, they are all delicious, full size rolls and super cheap. You literally cannot beat it! Happy Hour is every day from 5 to 7pm, drink specials range from $3-$6 and apps and sushi rolls range from $4-$6. I've never been after dining hours, but supposedly it gets pretty lively, more of a club/lounge vibe.

I come here every now and then on Fridays with one of my friends to enjoy the amazing happy hour. We've never had issues before with service, food quality, etc. so we keep going back! However, I decided to go yesterday with my husband since he's never been and I'm always talking about it; our experience was the complete opposite in terms of service. Our server (I think the bill said "Jay"?) was really rude when we started ordering and after he brought our food, he just never came back. It was pretty ridiculous. To the point where we needed to ask another server for help because he just never came back to our table. We saw him walking around to other tables, serving others, and even when my husband waved him down, he turned around and walked the other way.Needless to say, the experience was horrible. It sucks that we've always had great experiences in the past and this was the only time we've dealt with this because otherwise my review would be a 5-star one. Anyway, the food was amazing, as always!
