Rookies Cantina

My last review was 7 years ago, so it's time for an update! The decor is super cute and you're always greeted with a smile. They offer complimentary chips and salsa but make sure to ask for their rookies sauce (it's free). I love how they ask you how you'd like your steak cooked for the fajitas and I NEED TO KNOW what cheese they put in their quesadillas because I've never had anything like it and it's so delicious.This place is easy to miss, but it's been around forever. It's on the corner of 17/92 and 434 in a shopping plaza.They have weekly specials and offer a military discount.

As a patron who has dined at Rookies since day one , never had a real issue. Unfortunately the last two visits were not pleasant. Service has gone down hill , friendliness out the door , food sub par. I've always recommended this local establishment to many people. I'm willing to give them another shot , but will be quite a while before I go back. Taking into consideration the work force , and shortages, I still see an issue.

Another fantastic visit to Rookies! We came in for a work lunch and had a lovely experience. Our waitress was wonderful and the service was fast. The restaurant was clean and beautiful. For appetizers, we got the ceviche, queso, and guacamole. The ceviche was delicious and not too citrusy. The guac was creamy and fresh. The queso was salty and rich. For my entree, I got the premium chimichanga with shredded beef. The portion is giant. The beef is so tender and packed with flavor. The beans and rice and perfect and the chimichanga was expertly fried. We absolutely love Rookies.

They seated us quickly. They were generous with the chips and salsa. I had the Mahi Tacos. They could have used some more Mahi. For our tacos, the server didn't bring out hot sauce. Which is half the fun. They have Modelo Beer, Margaritas, and soft drinks. For your birthday, they put a sombrero on you and bring out a free dessert. Of course they also sing happy birthday..

The food is absolutely delicious here. Good amount to share. I shared with my daughter, and my mother also shared with my other daughter a combo plate each. My husband and my son both had their own plates because growing boys all the time however they both love them. Service was absolutely wonderful friendly and attentive. It was very clean inside a lot of space. This is one Mexican restaurant that I come back to. I highly recommend this place.

Decided to stop by Rookies tonight as my boyfriend wanted carne asada tacos, and I've had rookies before (albeit only the beef and chicken tacos/quesadillas).I ordered 3 ground beef tacos, and 3 carne asada tacos. Which came with beans, Spanish rice, and I also ordered a side of queso with chips.The food was prepared quickly, costing less than $35. The waitress who assisted me was an absolute delight.When I arrived home, I ate one ground beef taco, and my boyfriend ate his carne asada tacos. We consumed half the queso dip, and all of the rice beans.The next 3 hours were the absolute worse time of my boyfriends life.He began to feel sweaty, and shaky. Regularly running to the restroom and complaining of stomach pains. Next, his temperature elevated, and we could not keep him cool enough. Lastly, around 6 hours later, he began vomiting and having chills. I did not experience any of this, and did not eat any of his carne asada tacos as I was full from my one ground beef. We ate nothing else that day, besides some grilled cheese and tomato soup I made for lunch around 5 hours prior to this meal.We will not be returning, and if we decide to, we will skip the carne asada.

Ambiance is excellent; Service is very good.I've been to Rookies three times and found the food there very good. I enjoyed the Empanadas, Taco Salad and Steak Fajitas

This place is very colorful and dia los muertos inside. And you can buy the art if you like! It's very spacious and the bar looks stacked. However, I was there for lunch and could not partake.I did try the chimichanga which came with rice and beans. It was smothered and covered with cheese. It was very filling and flavorful. Of course you get chips and salsa to start. And service was pretty good.

Delicious food! Always fresh and great portions. I love their chicken enchiladas with the verde sauce. Rice and beans are amazing as well. Love the fresh complimentary chips with salsa. Has down to earth, casual ambiance and service is always great and efficient.

This place has become my family's go-to Mexican spot. We have never had a bad meal or experience. The servers are always prompt and very friendly. We love their chips and salsa to start off with. Lately, they have had birria tacos available which I have gotten at least three times. I hope they keep them on their menu because they are some of the best I have ever had! I am so thankful we have this local spot because I will keep visiting and supporting them over and over again.
