My husband and I had a late lunch at Oyish Japanese Steakhouse. Their food is very delicious with good portions for very reasonable prices. We have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. I only gave them 4 stars because the service is hit and miss. The ambiance leaves much to be desired as it is very dark inside with small ceiling lighting that is blinding. This restaurant is located at the Oviedo Mall, right before you go in the mall where Regal theater is located, on the right. This restaurant greatly needs a face lift. Great food

I've avoided this place because 1) the Yelp reviews aren't great, 2) their website no longer works, and 3) they haven't updated their Facebook page since 2017. So call me skeptical! We were headed to the Oviedo Mall anyway so why not give it try? I was very surprised on how well maintained and clean the place is. I was expecting something not as nice. The place is set up with a sushi bar, regular bar, booth area, and then hibachi tables. We got a booth. Server was super happy and pleasant. Great service.This place has all the usual stuff. Bento boxes, tons of sushi, teriyaki, noodles, grill, etc. First thing you notice is the prices are super cheap! A lunch bento was $10-12 and came with soup and salad. Appetizers were $4-6. Sushi was very reasonably priced even the specialty rolls. I thought with those prices the quality would be bad. Nope! Now it wasn't high end but man you get a lot of pretty good food for very little money. For 3 people with 2 appetizers and sodas the bill was less than $60 plus a tip. That would have been waaaay more at Bento and all the other similar type places.Overall, don't snooze on this place. And ignore a lot of the bad reviews. You can clearly see many are written by someone who checked in to 1 place and wrote 1 review ever on Yelp. This place is good. Check it out!

My boyfriend and I were craving hibachi food but wanted to stay close to home, so we ventured to Oyishi at the Oviedo Mall. We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday night and were immediately seated at a hibachi table with another party. We both ordered the chicken hibachi option and enjoyed it. We also moved that they give everyone 2 shrimp as an appetizer. Cool! Enjoyed having leftovers the next day too. Don't let the location of being in a mall turn you away from this lovely Japanese steakhouse.

Wow talk about disappointment. I read recently positive reviews and had such high hopes for this place but alas it did not meet my expectations. After the broccoli was drenched in sauce, I told the chef that the children do not like sauce, and to take it easy on the hibachi. He asked why this was not specified when the order was made, which is a valid question when I asked for another batch of broccoli to be made for the children, and that I was not concerned with the extra cost, he told me to get one from the kitchen that would be steamed and to put it in through the waitress. This broccoli then took forever to come out and was gross felt like frozen and nuked. I got scallops and filet mignon hibachi. The scallops too, were drenched in sauce so the flavor of the scallop could not be tasted. The shrimp was good. The filet mignon was fine. Cooked a bit more than the medium I'd requested. The kids steak hibachi was not chewable and the chicken was not palatable. The noodles were overly sauced so the kids refuse to eat them and the rice was OK. We also ordered a variety of sushi none of which was impressive. Although it looked good, the taste was far from memorable. Overall, the place wasn't packed for Saturday night which now I understand why but realistically for what we paid, I could've had a much better dinner.Hubby tried the sushi the next day and said it was ok that the flavor of the hibachi messed with our palate. Honestly it was not a good experience and I won't be back.

I actually really enjoyed this impromptu visit even though hibachi isn't my favorite. The hostess / server was extremely friendly, as was the chef. As for the food I found the noodles to be delicious, chicken to be juicy, and salmon to be tender and not fishy. Also, we all enjoyed the vegetables which were served at the beginning-- tender but with that fresh crunch! Overall, at first I was apprehensive but the lovely service and decent food surprised me!

The Salmon Sashimi was tasty, but I still needed to receive rice. I was told that if I wanted rice, I should have ordered Sushi. I have 35 years employed by 5-star fine dining restaurants and know the difference between the two.
