Oakwood Smokehouse

OakWood has been a family favorite for over 20 years. They are CONSISTENTLY fast, delicious, courteous and they have the best tea. Don't be deterred if the parking lot is full. You can still get in and out with a hot delicious meal in 45 minutes or less.

Oakwood is a very solid BBQ joint! I'm from St. Louis, so I don't say that lightly. My chicken was tender, and I appreciated the choice of dark or light meat. Other people at my table got pork, which they really enjoyed. Sides were pretty tasty, nothing spectacular, but a nice creamy mac and cheese can't be beat. Food came out very fast and was hot, sauce is on the table for you to add to your liking. DELICIOUS sweet tea. Our server Anderson was super great, too!

Really enjoyed the vibe at Oakwood Smokehouse - a real "get down to business" restaurant. Menu has lots of great items besides their prized baby backs. The ribs were great. They were not 'fall off the bone' they needed to be eaten off the bone which is technically properly smoked. Smoke flavor was not too overpowering, very well done. Pulled pork was ok too. The star of the show was actually the potato soup served that night. Service was great. Will return for sure.

I've passed by this restaurant several times in the past on my way to Publix since it's next door, and always found their parking lot full. I finally made the time to stop in for dinner and my curiosity of why this place is so popular was fulfilled. It is as crowded as the parking lot looked , but they have plenty of seating and the wait wasn't more than 5 minutes - but this was at 6:30pm so must take that into consideration. Service is friendly and fast, perfect for a very busy and popular eating establishment. The interior is like an old diner type restaurant with lots of booths and tables which were moved around to accommodate large and small dining groups. It's not fancy but it's comfortable and clean. I had to try their baby back ribs as it's touted as "award winning" on their menu and our server said it's the most popular menu item. It was also on special -$16 for full rack vs $20 menu price, so this was an easy choice! I chose the collard greens and baked beans for the sides. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and not too soft. Ribs were served with sauce on, their own sauce which is flavorful, evenly sweet and tangy bbq sauce. There are two other bbq sauces tabletop you could add, but I liked their original sauce on its own. Overall the baby back ribs and both sides were really good, very generous portion also. So for a bbq place it surpassed my standards for good smoked ribs, bbq sauce, sides, service and cleanliness. Simple and satisfying.

I heard so much about this place. We had eaten at its sister location in Wildwood, we decided to try out the mother ship. It was really good! Our server was attentive. The ribs and chicken were tasty. The Kona beer was cold. I enjoyed everything. The interior could use a refresh. It's like having dinner in a 1990's Golden Corral. But the price is right and the atmosphere is fine. We shall return.

We stopped here because we always see a lot of cars in the parking lot and know it must be good!! We had great meals with the ribs, collards and slaw. My daughter got the chicken tenders which were a large portion and delicious. The prices are reasonable. Had a great meal and service.

Even though they were busy I was able to get a table very quickly. The weekday full slab special for $16 was a great deal. Ribs were meaty and fall off the bone delicious. I especially enjoyed their homemade mustard based sauce which had a nice little kick to it. Service was friendly from everyone I was in contact with. There is a reason they are so busy. Well worth a try.

I have yet to eat here, but we do take-out regularly. Last night, I had my usual: pulled pork. It comes with two sides and I chose a sweet potato and green beans. The sweet potato comes with a ramekin of cinnamon butter that makes this the tastiest potato ever. The beans usually have a little pork but last night, just a crumb or two. The pork has excellent flavor and the serving is enough for two meals. My only complaint is the consistency. It's beeen beaten to death and is closer to mashed potatoes than pulled pork.My father in law ordered a full rack. They were meaty, fall off the bone and well sauced. He finished. My wife had the mahi dinner and it was cooked perfectly. I should have ordered it blackened, as "plain" grilled is a little bland. They both had the baked beans which they liked very much.Service at the counter is swift. My order was ready in 15 minutes, as promised. And the girl working the take-out counter had me through the "express" check-out in no time. Three meals before tip came to $55. Notbad at all.

While they do have great bbq, the hubby and I are addicted to their smoke burgers. They have four different ones to choose from. Word of warning, you better have plenty of napkins because they are cooked as ordered and are extremely juicy. I recommend you give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

We have been here several times and the Full Slab of ribs are the best, Monday & Thursday it's $17 for dinner & 2-sides, my wife had grilled chicken dinner. Our server Robert was a 10 of 10. We have never had bad dinner or server.
