Mi Bandera Supermarket

Let me just say.... WOW!!! I have been looking for a Dominican buffet style supermarket for awhile since moving to Downtown Orlando. I used to go to a Dominican eatery in Kissimmee but since that is too far this is my runner up!! In 2nd place of being the best Dominican eats is this place... EVERYTHING... & I mean EVERYTHING is delicious. 2 entree plate is $10 and 3 entree plate is $12. I usually get their pollo guisado which is stew chicken, white rice w/ brown beans aka habichuelas, and plantains. I have recently started going through a portion of their other proteins like their version of fried chicken, carne asada, ribs, etc and yes it's still $10-$12 a plate. The ladies put a lot of food on the plate so you can have enough for another days worth of food or you can share with two people. Best place ever!!

I used to always pass this place around lunch time and would always notice the parking lot would always be full of cars and others trying to find a spot. They advertise lunch specials for either $5 or $6 so I figure that's what everybody's there for. After a while of wondering about it, we finally made a random stop to see what all of the fuss was about. Mi Bandera is a small sized local market with produce and other groceries and home items. I did notice prices for some home items are a touch expensive as some you can get cheaper at a Walmart or elsewhere. The packaged meats in the back look like decent quality for decent prices. We got a big package of boneless skinless chicken thighs for $2, awesome deal. Now let's talk about what everyone's really here for... when you walk in, to the left you immediately notice a long line of food that stretches to the back of the store. So so soooo many options to choose from. The line usually will be long. The food is delicious and for $6? You bet there's gonna be a line. A few very nice ladies help you choose your food. You pick from a base of white or yellow rice, black or pinto beans, yellow rice con gandules, or even spaghetti. You can get one or two different meats for your meal and they have so much to choose from.. from fried fish, to wings in different styles, roasted chicken, stewed meats, ribs, fried chicken, pernil, you name it they got it. They have other salads and a few other things to choose from towards the end and it leads you straight to the register, so if you plan to get groceries, grab them first, then go through the food line. Anyway, I can't begin to describe how great the food is. I could just eat a cauldron of the yellow rice and pinto beans by itself. The pernil is so soft and has amazing juices that mix great with the rice and beans. My hubby loves the fried chicken strips. The fried fish is great too. Spaghetti side is a touch too salty for my taste. But aside from that you really can't go wrong with any of the meats here. Plus, a single meal here is portioned to be 2-3 meals!! You definitely get the BEST bang for your buck here. Please give it a try if you haven't yet!

This is the real deal Dominican flavor! My all time favorite Latin restaurant. They offer wide selection of meats, rice, sweets, and drinks. They get you in and out in no time. It's a must try.

Their hot food is delicious and is a great deal. You really can't beat the prices. Tried the pork with yellow rice and some chicken wings. Everything was tasty and it was enough to spilt between two people and still have leftovers. Pork was flavourful and tender, the drippings were perfect on the rice. The dessert displays looked yummy but I didn't try any this time. There was a big line when we entered but went pretty quickly.

Came for lunch with coworkers during a weekday. The parking lot will give you anxiety if you have any kind of emotional attachment to your car. It's basically one lane in and out and there's people driving in and backing all the way out at the same time. The restaurant portion of the grocery store has a few four- and two-tops, mostly built for carry out, and there's several large picnic benches outside. You know it's legit good food for good value when the whole parking lot is full of pickup trucks and the store is full of people who work hard for a living. There's a cafeteria-style line (that snaked through the store) and you pick what you want. I kept picking and ended up with 2 totally full boxes, like 7 lbs of food, for $12.00. Seriously cannot beat that and all of it was delicious, I got like 4 meals out of it. All was well-seasoned, juicy or crispy or moist where it was supposed to be. Got the carnitas, chicharrones, boiled yuca, yellow rice and pigeon peas, baked chicken wings, avocado salad. If you can brave the parking lot, it's worth a trip.

I was looking forward to the steak dinner I ordered, unless they consider a bunch of dried out meat as steak, I was really disappointed.

OMG!!! I was merely looking for some Caribbean vegetables and spices but to my delight found a well seasoned selection of cooked foods on the hot bar. This truly is a hidden gem that this tourist was fortunate enough to stumble upon. Do yourself a favor and bypass the high priced restaurants and try a meal to go with the locals!

Me encanta el lugar pero por primera vez después de más de 3 años visitando tuve mala experiencia. Pedí un plato de arroz con carne guisada y sirvieron el arroz y la carne, te preguntan si quieres caldo y te desaparecen el arroz con caldo y la carne sin nada de caldo, por lo que tuve que pedirle un side aparte de arroz. Pedí arroz con carne guisada y el plato parecía un asopado.Para nada de atenta estaba la chica por andar conversando con la compañera.

They are not open on Sundays!! Google says it's open though. Hope this saves someone a trip.

I went at 540pm and the food was abundant, warm, fresh, and delicious. The price was great too! Service is quick and the place is clean inside. Looking forward to visit again.
