Mecatos Bakery & Café

Had to come to a nearby car shop for an oil change one morning, and we wanted a nice breakfast that was preferably a walk away. When searching, we found Mecatos! It looked like one of those classic Hispanic bakeries that offer grab-n-go pastries along with hot sandwiches and breakfast plates made to order. We walked over, got in line, and started marveling over all of the options. We ended up getting seven items out of the display case. I don't remember what all we got, but I remember that they were almost as good as the ones down in Miami. Delicious! Everything guava y queso was delicious, the bill potato ball was delicious, but you'll need a dipping sauce, the Nutella bun was severely lacking Nutella, don't get that one if you have an insatiable sweet tooth, and the tequenos were yummy yummy, my favorite part. Nothing was too greasy, everything was the right temperature, and I'll probably get double the amount of stuff next time. I also got a hot sandwich, a chorizo, egg, and cheese arepa. My goodness. They stuff this thing to the brim. Delicious chorizo, well-cooked eggs, and more cheese than you can handle, just melty enough to glue it all together in that mega crispy arepa shell. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had in Orlando. Get one of these. I also got a fancy, sweet, mocha, iced coffee, and it was pretty standard. No complaints. It satisfied the need. Overall, this place was a very pleasant discovery, and I will probably be back over and over again.

The food at Mecatos Bakery and Cafe was decent. I ordered the cachapa, which was good, and my husband had the empanadas, which were very tasty. Unfortunately, both our coffees--a café latte for me and a café con leche for my husband--were served cold, which was disappointing.While the food was alright, the customer service was severely lacking. We sat in a comfortable sofa area, but there was a dirty tray left on the table, and no one bothered to clean it during the hour we stayed.My husband had a particularly bad experience at the counter. He went to ask for a to-go container but was ignored by the staff, who were chatting among themselves. When he finally interrupted, one employee rudely told him to wait and then walked away without helping him. He had to ask someone else, as the first person never returned. He said it reminded him of a bad experience with a rude waitress in Tennessee, which says a lot.Mecatos Bakery has a lot of potential, but they seriously need to re-train their staff to improve customer service.

I come here pretty frequently. This is one of a growing franchise of locations in Orlando. Everything they have is delicious. And since they moved to Thai location, there is seating aplenty! This would be a good alternative to a coffee house to study or do work. I love getting the pan de bono with mayochup or garlic aioli. I know you are suppose to eat it by itself but I'm a dipper. I also enjoy their empanadas. All their treats are reasonably priced and fresh as they replenish supply throughout the day. Every once in a while, I'll treat myself to a $9 Colombian hot dog. It's different (a hot dog with cheese, pineapple sauce, garlic sauce, potato chips, mayo, onion sauce & ketchup) but delicious!

Food was amazing! My partner and I both got arepas and there was plenty of seating. Make sure to ask for sauce as well, they will bring you a bottle. The prices were good for the amount of food we got. Try the tequenos with the pink sauce, delicious!

Service and food used to be really good quality. They just took OVER 30 MINUTES to bring a burger and avocado toast! And their bench ripped my pants!! All they could say was maybe they should tape it. The arepa order afterwards was a rock.

We have always seen this place but have never gone in. The place is a lot bigger than we thought it would be and it was very well decorated. The line was long, but it went quickly. We ordered a double expresso and a few of their pastries. Everything was delicious! The coffee was strong. We'll definitely be back to try some of their entrees!

It was a nice open space with lots of seats to choose from . You order at the counter but it's kind of confusing bc there's a bakery counter, a drinks cooler and a full menu. The staff were nice. My dessert cannoli came at least 10 minutes before my drink or hot dog . I did however love my hot dog with potato chips and pineapple. Weird but yummy. The bread we took home was really good.

I can't sing the praises to how great this place is. All staff is so friendly but both times I've been, Eduardo has been extremely attentive and efficient: the pastries are always delicious and fresh but the coffee is the best in the area. I will definitely be going back.

The food and service are quite good. They need to fix their online ordering system. Ordering ahead is difficult and options are unclear for adding and omitting toppings.
