Mama's Fixins Soul Food and BBQ Food Truck

This is one of my favorite food trucks in town!!!! I'm a bit of a stalker as I try to visit them any time I see that they are in Waterford or at a food truck event.If you're looking for fantastic soul food to go then they are the one! Everything is wonderful. My favorites include the fried chicken and fish. They used to have baked fish but only a few people ordered it but it was by far my go to meal. I spoke to the owner and they may bring it back as a special. The sides are delish! Collard greens are cooked perfect with smoked turkey and just the right amount of spice. The Mac n cheese is so cheesy that you'll want more. And you have to get the sweet potato casserole. I'm not sure how they do it but I love the brown sugar, pecan glaze topping. So good. Oh don't get a soda. You have to try the pineapple lemonade or "liquid gold" as I call it! Reminds me of my summers when we would run around outside and the lady down the street sold lemonade, ice pops etc. The truck is in the back of Waterford twice a month near the theater. Mama's Fixins use to have their truck parked in walking distance of my house and I use to go their religiously.... let's start off by saying the soul food was amazing and made with love. I didn't have one thing from them I didn't enjoy. From ribs to fried fish, collard greens, to their out of this world mac n cheese. Not only is there food delicious but the owners are so nice and humble and make you feel at home. Next time you see this trucked parked, I highly recommend everyone to try!

Most of the time I spotted this food truck was at The Daily City Food Truck Bazaars around town. When I go to these food truck bazaars, I want to eat everything. So I stay away from the large portions I saw coming out of the Mama Fixins. This was a perfect opportunity.Southern Fried Chicken, Mashed Potato, Mac and Cheese - crisp, succulent, and tender chicken bursting with flavors. Creamy mashed potatoes and very nice mac and cheese. Huge portion!Southern Fried Fish, Beans, and Collard Greens - Tender, flaky, crispy swai fish fillets were a true southern charmer. The swai fish has a nice clean flavor profile. Beans were sweet and intense, collards greens were tender.I also tried the Sweet Iced Tea and Pink lemonade, both of which were flavored nicely. This food truck has certainly cornered the essence of southern soul food. The portions are huge for a great value. Service is of genuine southern hospitality. Great team. Great food!

Food comatose, we were walking off our stuffiness, when my eyes fell on Mamas Fixins Soul Food Truck. How did I miss this in our round of selection? Run by the Parson's family; Mama's Fixins was friendly and inviting, with Ms. Parson being confident regarding the quality of her food. Since, they weren't going to be at the Apopka Food Truck Bazaar, hosted on November 3rd; I had to give them a try. I asked Ms. Parson to make me a plate of her favorites. She handed me a big plate, with generous portions of Fried Chicken, Creamed Corn, Collard Greens, and a bowl of Gumbo. The first bite I took of that plate was creamed corn. OMG! That was truly orgasmic, I exclaimed to my fellow foodie. The fried chicken was super crunchy and ultra juicy. The crust was well seasoned, though personally for me a bit heavy on salt. The collard greens were tender and flavorful. For $9 bucks, that was quite a value for your money. I couldn't help notice that even though their prices were comparable to the rest of the food trucks; their portions by far were substantial in comparison. On to the Gumbo - fresh, flavorful, immersed with generous helpings of chicken and sausage. It was the ultimate comfort food. Now, I have tasted spicier gumbo, this one was spiced perfectly for my palate. For the more daring patrons, there are pickled peppers and hot sauce available. I also appreciated the tables provided so we can eat comfortably without being able to maneuver food with one hand. They have an extensive menu comprising of traditional soul food and BBQ. I am eager to try rest of their offerings, hopefully soon. Even though Florida is considered a Southern State, at least in Orlando, I haven't tasted real good old southern cooking made with mamma's tender love and care. I am pleased to recommend Mama's Fixins Soul Food Truck to patrons like myself, who fancy soul food. They simply are the BEST at what they do!!

Mama's Fixins really cooks up the goods.I tried their ribs, coleslaw, pulled pork, and mac and cheese; all of them were fantastic. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful, the ribs were tender, the coleslaw was fresh and not too sweet, and the mac and cheese was spot on. I'm often disappointed when I try the mac and cheese at BBQ joints, but Mama's Fixins does it right: creamy and loaded with sharp cheddar.What makes me even more stoked about this truck is that the people running it are awesome. While I was waiting for my food, one of the cooks gave me a sample of oxtail. The cooks make you feel welcome and truly appreciate their clientele. As for the oxtail, it came in a small cup and was served over rice. Really tasty stuff.What put them over the edge with a fifth star is their stellar service and obvious passion for their craft.They've been hanging out in Waterford Lakes during the weekends, so if you live in East Orlando, pay them a visit for lunch or dinner.Easily some of the best BBQ Orlando has to offer.

Fried Catfish, Fried Okra, Collard Greens, and Cornbread. I tend to find collard greens too salty, but Mama made these just right for my Latino liking. : )BBQ Ribs, baked beans, peach cobbler, cornbread. Ribs are made nice and tender and filled with flavor.Fried Chicken, Mac and Cheese, Baked Beans. I have to admit I order this dish all the time. My go to dish when I find Mama. Mamas fixins is top notch. Moving target but easy to find on twitter.

We hired them for a work event and they DID NOT disappoint!!!! They served quick to over 100+ employees with a smile and some of the best food I've ever had!! Kim was so professional and easy to work with and served everyone like they were eating in her home! The fried fish was amazing, not greasy and the greens OMG so good! This is real home cookin not frozen and then microwaved! She takes pride in what she does and it shows! I can't wait to try more from them again! Eat there you will not be dissappointed!!!!!

I loved this food truck service. Really miss them in Waterford Lakes shopping center. Ms. Kim was always the best cook and server and had great customer service. I was addicted to their baby backs and baked beans. Looks like Waterford really lost a good thing as they continuously pushed their location around the center and finally out.

This catering service really outdone themselves. I would give 10 stars if I would. The Thanksgiving menu provided so many options. Customer service and the ordering process was simple. They offered to deliver my feast, which was very nice since I was working that day and would have had to take off. KJ (Mamas son) was very polite and delivered my food with the sweetest smile. Everything was sealed in tin containers with instructions on heating. The portions (I ordered for a family of 4) were so abundant, we can eat atleast 4 more times. The food was absolutely amazing. And the day after, I received a follow up to make sure that everything was to our liking. I honestly can not say enough about Mama's Fixin Soul Food and Bbq. They have earned my business 10 fold.

Mama's Fixins provided our company's Birthday Lunch and it was without a doubt a HIT--everyone, and I mean everyone, loved everything we catered. Our menu was: Fried Chicken, St. Louis BBQ Ribs, Potato Salad, Tangy Green Beans & Flavored Green Beans along with Corn Bread.Kim delivered all hot, ready to eat! I couldn't have worked with a nicer, more responsive & accommodating person--and yes, we will DEFINITELY have them cater our business lunches again!
