Lily's Creole Restaurant

My Haitian husband got a recommendation for this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. He order the stewed chicken, white rice and bean sauce for himself and fried goat and rice and beans for me. Both meals came with fried plantains but we received only pikliz (Haitian hot sauce). The food was delicious! It wasn't salty or overcooked. We will definitely return. I am just hoping they keep up the same standard. I am finding restaurant food all to often is cooked inconsistently.

What!!?? This place doesn't have a review yet well I'm honored to be the first. I can't believe I had to come all the way from Alabama to put y'all up on some GOOD HAITIAN food (not that I've found any good Haitian food in Alabama). Now wait, before you discount my review because of my home state let me tell u I'm world traveled and I just happen to be engaged to a Haitian man whose family taught me a little about cooking Haitian Cuisine because they thought he'd starve being married to me (lol). Lemme get to the point, we are visiting Orlando for family vacay 2018 and my fiancé found this place online. I knew when we arrived that it was gonna be good food.... there's a Haitian market right next to the restaurant and it looks as though I was pulling up to someone's home (places like that have the best food!!). We ordered Tassot (fried goat) and it was DELICIOUS!!! Flavorful and moist . The rice was really good (diri djon djon... I think is what it's called I just call it black rice) it was soooo good. We also ordered pintade (I didn't know what in the world it was at first but later google helped me understand its a wild bird -Guinea- that's kinda like chicken but apparently better) the Pintade was taking a luxury spa bath in this sauce - I'm going to refer to as Magic Sauce- Magic because we got the food to go but I tasted it as I was pulling out of the parking lot and it was so good I put the truck in park and sent bae back in to get another plate. Meanwhile I stayed in the truck and devoured the first plate like a crazed lady who'd been starved for days. It was dang good! The fried plantain was crispy and savory on the outside and fluffy on the inside (a lot of places it's just fried and dried but not here). The side salads that came with the meals were fresh and tasty, a simple companion to the delicious savory meal. Now!!!! The pikliz..... a spicy vinegar based side.... like a slaw was awesome!!! I mean I've had some good pikliz but this one was so good and spicy and tasty I just wanted to order a whole bowl of it (they give u a little serving as a condiment as most Haitian restaurants do. This place is just plain GOOD. I don't want to leave Orlando, it's not because of Disney or shopping, or any of the so-called "main attractions" it's because of Lily's!! You must try this place!!!

Sadly the Food reflected the atmosphere- poor quality and NOT FRESH. I ordered rice and beans , , plantains and I pointed to stew chicken eand stew turkey. The main instead gave me SMALL CUT UP fried chicken AND TURKEY PIECES.barely any meat and bucket loads of sour rice. Both meats were very dry, old and tasted tough - they were Not stewed at all. I told him that and instead he said oh we just omoutvgravy on top to make it stewed. Wrong! Also the gravy was watered down and had no taste. These people cut corners so much the food was terrible.The rice smelled Sour and like it was recycled from days before. it was 200% not fresh and you could smell it. We could barely eat it.My plantain was the only thing semi edible and that was not fresh either. It was chewy it was not crispy as it should be. I am part Haitian and this food is insulting- people just serving old slop and charging for that to their own people.Terrible. Gross and disgusting.I would never return to this dump. I only hope we don't get sick.id rather pay double for fresh made to order food in a Clean and sanitary setting that gets visited by a food inspector. Nothing was to code and that was the red flag right there ! Shame.
