Lechonera Latina

Since Rice and Beans closed I've been looking for a new place to get tostones. I just might have found it here. I'm a fry snob, and tostones are my 'fries' at Latin restaurants. I finished eating, had leftovers, and had to resist ordering more tostones for the ride home.Speaking Spanish isn't necessary, but it definitely helps if it's your first time here. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I had the pernil (roasted pork) combo which came with rice and a side. Much of the food sits out for you to see, but nothing has labels, so I went with my gut. The rice I chose had bits of fat in it which really enhanced the flavor. The pernil was good too. Nothing out of the ordinary - just good, standard pernil. But those tostones...I'm confident I'll be stopping here for tostones whenever I'm in the area.

Less options due to the smaller space but everything here is delicious! They are very generous with the portion sizes and the prices are super affordable, making this a great value meal. You order at the counter and they do have seating available for dine-in but we usually just take it togo.

I truly love this place. I visited the #5 restaurant for the first time a few days ago. I was surprised how much larger this location was, and they seemed to have everything Lechonera offers on the menu. Don't be scared away if you don't speak Spanish, the staff are very friendly and more than happy to help you out. We went around lunch time and it was pretty packed. All the food was super fresh and absolutely delicious. I had the Ropa Veija and it was so flavorful. It's possibly my new favorite. I also love the beef stew. The restaurant does have seating, but when it's busy it gets pretty tight. Definitely give it a try!

I wouldn't come back but i will leave a review. I had come in yesterday night because I have been to the other location on McCoy road. I had asked for carne asada which is Steak. When she gave me the food I didn't get to see it till I was in the car. She had served me pulled pork. I have a pork allergy and as I walked back to the store to see if I can get it fixed the shorter lady had given me an attitude and was looking at me like I did something to her. She was telling me that Carne asada in her country is pork but she should have specified that before serving it which she didn't. After I switched my food for actual steak she still continued to charge me additional money after the food I had paid for. I didn't have a good experience and would recommend this place to anyone I continue to drive the extra 40 min to McCoy instead of this location.

I was in the mood for some mangu with salami and queso of course my husband made it happen. We pass this deli/restaurant a lot and omg I loved the fact that the food was fresh. As a fellow New Yorker this is the closest food to deli Dominican food from where I'm from. The food wasn't greasy which was very nice! The flan was so tasty not to sweet or sugary. I will definitely be ordering from here again. Recommend going before 10am it will not be busy!

I can't believe how many times I've passed by this awesome spot, not realizing how great the food is! Friends have been raving about the quality & quantity of their combos, and I wish I had listened sooner. Meals seem to be in the $10-$15 range, but their portions are HUGE - I could barely close the container at first. Instead of just one, the staff were kind enough to let me choose two entrees for no extra cost to try both the Ropa Vieja and Pernil Asado on top of yellow rice and a side of plantains - it was only $12! I'm not usually a fan of pulled pork, but the marinade and cook was just perfect! Everything overall tasted fresh and was served hot. Even though it looks small on the outside, there's actually a notable amount of inside seating. There are plenty of comfy blue booths that fit 4-6 people lining the back wall. It also seemed like most of the orders were takeout, so it never got too crowded while we were there. I loved how friendly and quick the service was, and the staff didn't seem at all bothered by my endless questions about the options on the menu. On a mini side note, there's a box where you can enter for a massive cruise discount by the door. My friend entered and won recently, so you just never know! Will definitely be back soon :)

Worst place to eat at. Service was the worst. The young lady with an attitude and the food was not appetizing. Rice was buen and the carne guisada was greasy with no taste. Then the brought the volume up and you literally had to scream to place your order. Won't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

This is a really cool no-frill place. I usually get the small box (it's not a huge serving but it's good enough for me) and almost always get the lechon and congri and plantains. I had mofongo one time which needed a 10-minute prepare time but was good.

Acabo de entrar a este lugar. Ni siquiera pedí y me fui. Primera vez que entraba. El lugar asqueroso, las mesas sucias, y comida hasta en el piso. Si eso es lo que se puede ver, no quiero imaginar como esta la cocina y todo atrás. Si pudiera darle 0 estrellas lo haría. No puedo decir como estaba el sabor de la comida porque no me quedé.

DISGUSTING!!! Rice undercooked. Food looked liked its been sitting there for days!! Do not recommend..
