First time trying Haitian food. I had stew chicken with white rice and red beans, plantain, pikliz (spicy cabbage), and side salad. Everything was flavorful and filling. My friend had griot (fried pork) it was lightly fried and tender. Pikliz pairs really well with griot. The service was good and you do have to wait but it's worth it!

I went here last night with my mom, and I was not impressed. I enjoy Haitain food, but I was disappointed. First of all, the waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable about any of the cuisine when we ordered and asked a few questions. I ordered the fried pork, and it was very dry. I also got an order of sweet potato fries that were soggy. I wanted to get some Haitian mac and cheese, which allegedly is a special for Fridays, but they didn't have any. Very disappointing! On top of that, my mom got the Coconut Shrimp that came with no sauce, which is bizarre. Finally, they did not have any of the desserts they advertised on the menu. Instead, they said they had lemon cake, which we ordered, but it turned out to be just plain vanilla cake. I don't understand how that can be confused. I probably won't be coming back here.

As a fellow Ayisyen living in the Carolinas, the Haitian food scene is very limited. I went on a trip to Orlando so of course I had to get my hands on Haitian food. There weren't many people when I arrived that evening so service was relatively fast. I visited twice, both times they were out of mac. I assume it's spectacular, given that they ran out but I only have my imagination. The diri djon djon and turkey was packed with flavor. I don't get to eat it often, so my taste buds were satisfied. 10/10 highly recommend!

The food is ALWAYS soooo good at Kalalou. Although they did NOT have a LOT of items at 5pm on a Tuesday evening BUT still had food to eat. I wanted legume but I had to settle for the Creole Stew chicken with a cute little salad and djon djon (black mushroom Haitian rice) which was still AMAZING!! My family and I shared marinad and the Accra. The Banan peze (plantains) were done right. A lot of seating inside, they have a bar. It CAN be a bit cold inside but if you sit by the door, it is warmer. And they have outdoor seating. They also have a drive through which is cool.Clean bathrooms. Our server was kind and accommodating.

We arrived and got seated, it took at least 30 minutes before anyone came by our table to bring menus. We waited and waited for a server, so finally we flagged someone walking by. We had to ask for water which took forever to come. I asked for a margarita and someone else in my party wanted a pina colada which she never got. We had to stop the server to come take our orders, the service was very slow and no one came by to refill drinks. 3 's for service5 for food because once we got it, it was presented nicely and it was delicious. I'd definitely eat there again, but ONLY for TAKEOUT .

I haven't been to a Haitian restaurant in a long time and this one left me wanting to go all the time. The food was very flavorful and authentic. I also appreciated that the servers were friendly and willing to cater to my requests. Although I ordered take out, the restaurant is clean so I wouldn't mind eating in next time. This is one of my new favorites so I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.

The food is good though 4/5. Service is not worth the price 2/5. Its the closest tasting food to homemade so ill order every once in a while.

When I'm in Orlando, I try to stop by if I'm craving Haitian food. We had a late flight today so we decided to dine. There are tables inside and outside. Music is playing in the background. Nice little ambiance to eat and vibe. They were out of akra and marinade today which was a tad disappointing. I went with salmon and rice and beans. It was really good. I enjoyed the salmon. Wish I had more banan but hey. Service was good. It was not busy when we went so can't speak on a full house. Overall, good choice.

If you are looking for good Caribbean food Kalalou is the spot! It is mostly Haitian cuisine with a few Jamaican influences. Food 5/5- I had the creole stew chicken with black rice and it was very tasty. The chicken was literally falling off the bone and it was so flavorful. My friend had the griot (fried pork) and let me tell you I could not keep my fork out of his plate. The pork was literally perfect. We also had some fresh passion fruit juice which was a good added touch. Service 5/5- Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. She also told us they have live music on the weekends so I will definitely be back to check it out. Ambiance 5/5- It is more of a casual environment but a great place to go on a date or just hang out with your friends. They also have an outside patio with a TV which would be great for watching games. They also do bottomless brunch on Sundays for $15 and they have happy hour M-F 5-8pm.

Loved this local Haitian restaurant. We started with the akkra fritters, and 100% would order again. The griot and black rice was so good. My husband had the stewed chicken and it was so flavorful. The service was fantastic. Our server was so friendly and helpful. The food came out really quickly. The restaurant itself is cute and has fun carribean music playing. Definitely check this place out.
