We where in the area and craving some Mexican food so we decided to Check this place out. When we walked in we where immediately greeted and sat. Super cute interior. The chairs are brightly colored and the walls! LOVED them so well done. Lots of great little knick knacks around as well. Menu says you have to pay for chips and salsa so we ordered some and our server said no charge comes with the meal. I would say the chips and salsa where my only disappointment. The salsa tasted like canned tomatoes sauce with a tiny bit of cilantro and onions so not much flavor. I asked for some spicy and she was super quick to bring me some. Seemed like she added some hot sauce to the salsa not much heat or flavor. I asked if they had something even spicier. She said of course. Well again same as before but this time it was spicy but no flavor. I appreciate her trying though. I am used to places having different salsa with different heat levels. The chips are nice and thin and crispy. But very greasy. Kudos though that they make them in-house. This would not stop us from coming back at all the food was very good. My boys had the children's quesadillas the portion was very large and taste great. My mom ordered a burrito (not pictured it was huge and she said it was really great)My sister had steak fajitas and she too said it was fantastic I ordered 3 carnitas street tacos and a chicken tostada. The salsa verde to put on the tacos was phenomenal. The carnitas as well. The toasted took me back to my childhood when I would eat dinner at my best friends house.I almost forgot our server was phenomenal. Our drinks would not even be empty and she would be buy with refills. She was the only one there had had several tables but you would never know it by how attentive she was to each and every table

I regret to be harsh on a small family-owned business; but the reality was not a notable dining experience. Ready to dig into chips and salsa, I first headed to the loo to wash hands finding out of hand soap and paper towels (no hand drier either). In the business of Food & Beverage myself, I found this to be unsanitary and immediately put me on edge. Overall cleanliness was subpar. The food was not very good. The artwork was noteworthy as was the service. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I ordered chicken tortilla soup. The chicken itself was tender and juicy but the soup overall was void of flavor. I wished it had spice or flavor to it. I also ordered a chili relleno. Sadly, it was hands down the worst relleno ever. Slice piece heavily breaded in egg which was clearly burnt and should not have been served. I fished out the pepper and left the burnt on my plate. The salsa was not so good either with a weird spottiness to it like it was breaking down. Chips themselves were fresh and good. My husband got chicken tacos and said the chicken was dry. Unfortunately, we are still looking for a good go-to Mexican restaurant in St Cloud.

Jalapenos is our go to Mexican restaurant in St. Cloud. The service is very good and friendly. The food is consistently excellent. We've tried all the others in town and we always come back to Jalapenos.

Ok peeps. I know the ratings are low but Im going to give the owner a 5 star for trying her best to stay open for all you hungry people. Yes I'm a Mexican and I like to criticize Mexican food to the point. The tacos we ordered I'm telling you they're alot tastier than some places in Mexico. Great customer service and food was just right for the money. They are cook just like my gradma in Mexico. Someone that know about advertisement please help her. Payitforward.

Jalapeños has decent Mexican food served in a relaxed family setting. It is a locally loved restaurant where the owner and staff know the regulars. Service is slow but friendly and the restaurant is clean. We ordered the burritos with rice and beans. The burritos were good and can be described as average. The re-fried beans were the star. The were seasoned perfectly and were very good with the rice. Portion sizes are predictable and the prices are fair.To my disappointment I did not see jalapeno type items on the menu and did not find their food to be spicy hot. I am not sure how the name relates to the food but it would have been nice if they offered food options that were spicier.

We started out with a strawberry margarita & sangria. Both were delicious and hit the spot after a long week. We ordered the guacamole, which was a bit bland but wasn't horrible. The tamale was flavorful and filling. Then onto the main courses, which we opted for the fajitas for 2 and a shrimp chimichanga. We felt the fajitas were fairly priced (cheaper than most locations) and were savory! The chimichanga did not disappoint and was also very delicious. We finished our meal with the fried ice cream, which was pretty tough/hard compared to other restaurants we've visited. The lighting in the restaurant is a bit dark, which sets the tone for a romantic atmosphere. The waitresses we had were responsive, attentive, and welcoming. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

This place was a great stop and I'm happy to visit it again. The artwork on the walls is really great. I noticed it first! The menu has the normal Mexican food you would expect from a standard Mexican restaurant. The service was good, my drinks can quickly, my food did seem to take a while to arrive. I was very happy with what I ordered! My only gripe is that the rice and beans didn't have much flavor to them. I was let down by this. The rest was good. The melted cheese Queso was white cheese kind and when it cooled it turned back into solid cheese not that running liquid stuff. LolThe one big thing missing from a place named Jalapeños was the jalapeños! You would think they would have Jalapeño food, jalapeño side dishes, jalapeño Margarets, grilled jalapeños and stuffed jalapeños. Nope, the name was just a general way to attract gringos.

When the food is not great but the server cares things can go well but when a server drops the food on the table and disappears for 15 minutes with no one else in the place you have to accept its lack of care not the business flow causing the issue. Don't order medium rare at this place go somewhere else and hope they listen. For some reason I have a difficult time getting cooks to cook the order the way I like it!l that's the culture and they won't listen to gringos. If you like dry meat this is your spot you will need floss and well sharpened tooth pick's to clean your teeth but trust me it will be dry and tasteless.
