Sometimes, you just want good 'Mexican' style food. And El Potro doesn't miss. I have gotten delivery from here three times and have been extremely pleased each time! It's definitely worth the buck! The chips and salsa are good. The taco salad is a bit messy but hits the spot. I've also had the fried plantain (7/10), Carnitas (8/10), chicken enchiladas (8/10), and the quesadilla (7/10).The delivery packaging it perfect, and I have never had an issue with missing items or cold food. Truly a must try!

We had been on the road for 10 hours and we were ready for some good food for the rest of our trip. We assumed that this would be a safe choice but unfortunately we were mistaken. The Carnitas were beyond dry. The Carne Asada was tough. The quesadillas were decent. As for the service, we were taken care of, but with very little personality. The overall aesthetics of the building was a bit rundown and mediocre at best. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing.

My family of four was seated immediately around 8:30 on a Tuesday. Though we were hangry when we arrived we were very full and happy when we left. Everything was delicious and the staff was friendly albeit a bit slow. It was not busy. The atmosphere was so basic I can't recall anything unique but it was totally fine, clean and organized. We were there for about an hour. We would definitely go again! Price for us was around $60-ish. Highly recommend the queso!

You ever enjoy your food so much that you forget to breathe?! Well, I haven't been breathing for the last 20 minutes. I was enjoying my nachos so much. This was my first visit to the quaint restaurant, El Potro after an intense craving for nachos hit me. When I walked in they were singing happy birthday to a table near the door. I loved the energy immediately. Then the young man who greeted me made it clear that this is the atmosphere...great energy. He was happy and friendly. He quickly processed my payment and my food was out within seconds. I ordered to go. But my next experience will definitely be dine in. I loved my food so much, I called the restaurant back and asked that someone kiss the chef for me. Lol

Service was great for a party of 7 on a Saturday evening. I enjoyed the pastor tacos but thought it would be served on corn tortilla instead of flour. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals as well including the complimentary chips and salsa. Had a birthday person in our party and they celebrated with a song and ice cream whipped cream filled tortilla bowl.

Our usual favorite Mexican restaurant is Agave Azul. However, recent changes such as charging for chips and salsa, raising prices, and the condensing of their menu with several favorite items of mine no longer available, has made me interested in trying more places. I had been to El Potro once before a few years ago, and since it is across the street from Agave Azul, I thought we could head that way and make our final decision when we neared closer. With agreement from my friends, we decided to give El Potro a chance and have dinner there tonight. The ambiance is very casual and comfortable. We felt at home here. The service was also great. Our server (I believe her name is Stephanie) was very kind and attentive. I want to apologize here because while I tipped above 20%, my bill was low so my tip was not very impressive. On my drive home, I reflected on it and felt guilty. Next time, I will do better, so I apologize. Our server was wonderful. We were served complimentary chips and salsa and as our bowl neared empty, our server asked if we wanted more which we said yes to! The salsa has a great amount of spice to it and the chips tasted fresh. Our waters were topped off timely as well. The queso dip appetizer we ordered was also yummy. So many menu options which was exciting! For my entree, I got a cheese quesadilla with beans and rice. While the beans and rice were just okay, my quesadilla really hit the spot! It's a simple tasty classic. My friends enjoyed their meals as well (spicy watermelon rita, supreme burrito with shrimp, half order chimichanga). At the end of our meal, our server asked if we wanted dessert. We were stuffed but want to try something next time! I also want to get a margarita next time too because I tasted my friend's and it was delicious! Another bonus: the prices here are absolutely refreshing! Times are tough right now, so it was nice to be able to go out to eat and relax without breaking the bank. Thank you very much for serving us. You deserve a much higher rating than your current 3.9. Hopefully my review will help. We look forward to returning!

Honestly such an amazing Mexican restaurant local to Orlando. Their deals are great, food is beyond tasty, and the service is classic Mexican restaurant service: so fun and hospitable! This is Anthony and I's go-to for authentic Mexican cuisine and we have never had a bad experience here. We've tried most of the menu and I have to say the King's Quesadilla is my absolute favorite! The quesadilla is perfectly crispy on the outside with a soft, cheesy inside full of fajita vegetables and the meat of your choosing. (I prefer the chicken!)

I'm not sure why I waited so long to try El Potro, but that wasn't a great choice. The place is excellent! In traditional fashion, the meal began with chips and salsa, which were perfect. The salsa had a bit of a punch in certain bites, so definitely watch out if you're not a spicy fan. After that we tried many different tacos and they were all full of flavor and very hearty. The tortilla was grilled a bit which made the flavor jump out even more. I especially like the verde salsa that came with the taco. It was a great flavor and added a nice cooling touch. I can't wait to go back and try more...

It's a hole in the wall without feeling like a hole in the wall, and that's how you know it's a good place for Mexican food.Pretty extensive menu with lots of combination platters and a la carte food. It's a table service restaurant with a full bar you can mosey up to. Server was friendly and on top of things. The portions were more than enough. They give a free serving of chips and salsa with purchase. The salsa is tasty without being too spicy for those folks who have a timid tongue. And unlike some places, they give you plenty of chips. Ours lasted through the whole meal. The drinks are served with free refills and are in giant glass mugs. Fair pricing and a good environment tossed together with authentic flavors make this place a win!

As always, the food was stellarly mediocre. Don't get me wrong, I love it ;^) Although their menu has expanded, the quality remains down to earth. No pretentious ingredients or false advertising at this local spot. Just sweet 2 gir 1 margaritas !My reason for down grading this time around was the surly waitress who left us wondering.. what did we do wrong?I am sure we will be back, of course! Fingers crossed the waitstaff will be happy to see us.
