A must! We tried so many items off the menu and all delicious. The atmosphere here is so nice and clean. Puertorican and Japanese fusion. Here is what we ordered and loved. Started with the pastelitos de camarón and the relleno de papa. My aunt and I ordered the costillas de BBQ, con arroz chino, tostones al ajillo. My Husband ordered pepper steak con arroz chino y amarillos. my grandmother ordered camarones a la ajillo con arroz chino y amarillos. my son ordered off the kids menu and got pizza with fries. For dessert we had the flan de queso which topped it off. All dishes were amazing. Customer service was so good!!

First time visiting this unique blend and WOW. Must visit on all levels! Food, service and ambiance did not disappoint. Our server Kaisha (sorry probably misspelled) was very attentive and professional. The mofongo is on my top two list of best I've had so far in all central Florida and the pepper steak 10/10!!! Serving sizes as plentiful and that mofongo has plenty of meat and shrimps unlike any other restaurant, which made it that much better. You had a protein with every bite unlike others which only fill these with a couple pieces of meet and then you're only eating mofongo by itself. The desert is a must try as it home made, flan and crème brûlée DELICIOUS! Overall everything was delicious and not one complaint even from our picky kids. Only "I wish" was where I feel there was a missed opportunity for them was in taking advantage of the national margarita day. We passed two other places because they had a long wait time for our large group of 9. Every where else had a promotion on their margaritas and their wait times reflected it. Only promotion here was them mentioning they offered margaritas lol. But must visit place for sure. Thank you

When El Coqui Ninja was announced as the new restaurant taking over this location, I was very curious to check it out. My family and I went with our friends who also have kids, and it was just perfect- we sat outside in the patio and there was still a grassy fenced-in area for the kids to run around. It was nicely decorated with hanging lights and plants all around. We would have sat inside but with the kids, it was a better choice to stay outside. The inside looked beautiful - whoever decorated it had a great eye on the furniture, colors, and decorations. For apps, we ordered the crab Rangoon and I will have to say, it was the best crab Rangoon that I have ever had! I was very pleasantly surprised. For the entree, I ordered the BBQ short ribs mofongo and once it came out, holy mollllly it was such a huge portion! I ended up taking it home and it was another two whole meals for me! They had a kids menu too, which our kiddo enjoyed the pizza and fries.Service was incredible. We had a young waitress who was attentive and eager to answer any questions that we had. We will be sure to be back soon. Loved the dining experience and loved how it was kid friendly outside.

We went when they were in there soft opening so I will give them some grace and we've been 1 more time since then.Thoughts on the decor and ambiance- we really liked how everything was decorated and the colors went very well together the tables are round so it does make it a bit awkward to sit at with 4 people there's a big post in the middle of the table which makes it a bit awkward. Other than that everything is beautifully decorated. Food- the first time we went we LOVED the corn beef eggroll it was absolutely delicious! The mofongo did lack a bit of flavor in my opinion. It needed sauce to vamp it up. The spare ribs we ordered with the mofongo was very thin tasted good but some pieces were a tad bit on the cooler side. The teriyaki chicken and lo mein was also delicious. The food the second time- Orange chicken was on point! Loved the sauce tasted home made not from a jar the arroz chino had lots of shrimp and was really flavorful. The garlic plantains were not our favorite tasted like they threw minced garlic on top of plantains. Needs more of a butter garlic sauce to make it better. But the pinchos which they didn't have the 1st time BLEW US AWAY so delicious and great presentation! Service- they were super nice and helpful with recommendations the servers seem new like maybe it's their first serving Job? They need more confidence especially in their menu. DESSERT Is amazing here I would go back just for their cheese flan. Overall we enjoyed our experience and after a few months when they get all the kinks worked out we will give them another try!

I'll start by acknowledging that they just opened and are working out the tweeks, but my overall experience was poor. When we first arrived and were sat, 2 servers were bickering quite loudly right in the middle of the dinning area with one of them completely unloading on the other. We ended up ordering the Ramen and the peppered steak mafungo. The Ramen arrived first, but resembled something I would try and make if I tried dressing up instant Ramen. The noodles were literally from an instant Ramen pack, the egg was over cooked and the broth lacked any body, was totally bland, and it came out a little more than lukewarm. While we ordered both entries at the same time, our mofungo took an additional 20 minutes to arrive. The entre had its pros and cons. The meat and veggies were perfectly cooked, however they were drowned in teriyaki sauce. Once we got down to the plantains, we found them to be pretty dry with little flavor. If they would have improved the plantains and used 1/2 the sauce, i think the plate would have been much better. In addition to all this our server seemed to be overly focused on bringing food out, which wasn't happening as quickly or often as they wanted or it should have been, but they didn't take any opportunity to complete other tasks, like clearing tables, or closing out there tickets. We had to wave them down to check out. And though we finished the Ramen before the mofungo arrived, the Ramen bowl was still there once we finally left.

Great service. Really cozy atmosphere, well appointed decor. The food was amazing! We had corned beef egg rolls...YUM! A Latin /Asian fried rice w/ Grilled chicken, a shrimp mofongo, it had lots of large shrimp throughout the dish. Everything was perfectly cooked and our server Nathan was sweet and attentive. Can't wait to go back and try some other delights.

Came to this place on their soft opening day after seeing their IG page announcing they were accepting customers. Very modern vibes as soon as you walk in; Hourglass District is stepping it up. We got a 4 dish platter that had pork belly, veggies, shrimp, and noddles. Very generous portions, definitely get your money's worth here. The pork belly was nice and crisp, noodles were savory and veggies were well seasoned. Shrimp could have used a sauce or a bit more seasoning. Service was excellent, everyone we encountered was attentive and friendly. Definitely looking forward to returning and trying other dishes on the menu, great addition to the Hourglass District!

This new Asian-Latin fusion restaurant is worth the try! Ambiance was fun and family/small group friendly. The portions were huge! While my orange chicken lacked a little flavor, my husband's pepper steak was delicious! My kid also LOVED his chicken lo mien, which was served in a cute porcelain Chinese takeout container. He wanted to eat leftovers for breakfast! We will definitely be back to try the other menu items like the mofongo and group dishes that looked amazing! Our server Patrick was the best! He was very personable, knowledgeable, and super sweet! The slightest bit of feedback would be the air freshener that was pumped into the restaurant...as a personal preference, I don't like mixing scents with food. Thank you for a fun family night!

Food had very good flavor. But did not seem fresh. Food did not seem to be made to order. Some food was warm. Some food was less than warm, but nothing was hot as if it had just been cooked. The thing that seemed the freshest was the potato balls. The girl making the drinks and putting the fruits or finishing touches on desserts, had hair dangling in her face which she constantly touched and her AirPod which was in her ear, and then would touch the fresh fruit she added to drinks and desserts. We found a hair in our lo mein. The table behind us complained to the server that one of the cooks in the back was eating in the kitchen. I think they have potential, but they just have to tighten up their crew, especially if they are going to have an open kitchen concept.

I ordered the boneless bbq ribs from El Coqui Ninja & I just got a bunch of gooey shaved pieces of pork , the rice was delicious; but I would not order the spare ribs again.
