Two friends and I decided to give this place a try after hearing so many good reviews about Death in the Afternoon. It is located on Mills Ave (between E. Marks St. and Weber St.) and may be hard to spot at first as it is a small restaurant. We passed by it the first time and came around back. It has an excellent vibe and "underground" type quality to it. My one friend described it as "an East Village or St. Mark Street New York City" experience. I think she hit the nail on the head with that description. We had a reservation for 6:15pm on a Wednesday night. Although it was not crowded when we arrived, the place filled up quickly by 8pm so reservations are strongly recommended (especially on the weekends). There is limited table seating, but an extensive bar, which was also packed. The food and drinks are all very good and fun to experiment with as we tried several menu items. For drinks, we started off with the Harvey Wallbanger, the Spicy Tommys Margarita (spicy indeed!) and a Blanton's bourbon. Later, we tried the "Death in the Afternoon" as we wanted the Absinthe experience. Loved this drink! They have a number of signature absinthe drinks that set this place apart from anything else in the Orlando area. We moved onto the food menu, with the Chicken Sliders (very good-the ginger sesame slaw makes this slider!) and the Empanadas (ok-but a little dry, but the jalapeno creme compliments them well). For our main entrees, we went with the Short Rib Gnocchi (amazing!), the Escargot (the garlic and herb sauce was perfection!) and the New York Strip slices (the absinthe compound butter set this dish off!) Later, we did a potato medley (not sure the exact title of the menu item; the absinthe was working its magic!) and it was a perfect ending for the evening. All in all, an entertaining and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Death in the Afternoon!

Parking 8/10Atmosphere 10/10Quality 10/10Service 10/10I went on a Tuesday for drinks and appetizers. The staff were friendly and let us sit at the bar even though we did not have a reservation. The appetizers all sounded delicious and the drinks were phenomenal. I can't wait to go back.

What a cute place!! We stopped in for happy hour and only got drinks but the food that went by looked so good! You can make reservations for table or bar seating but we were able to be seated as walk ins at the bar.The decor is so cool and the menu was extensive! The raspberry gin Collin's was a little too sweet for me but at a great price point and was glad to try something different. Death in the afternoon is walkable to all of mills and will now be a staple go to.

We visited Death In The Afternoon for the first time for a girls night out and had a great experience! The restaurant/bar is an intimate space with incredible decor and amazing service. Thankfully we were able to get a table with no reservation and got seated immediately. The music sets a good vibe and this is definitely a classy experience. If you don't like club vibes and want an elevated experience, this is definitely your spot. For my first drink, I got the porn star martini. It had a passion fruit forward flavor and was really good. My girlfriends got dirty martinis and let me try them. They were classic and delicious! For my meal, I had the chorizo burger with fries. The burger was super flavorful with a thin smashed patty. The toppings were delicious and balanced out the salty smokey chorizo. The fries were well seasoned and fresh. I liked the dipping sauce served with them. I also thought the price was really fair. One of my girlfriends got the gnocchi and it was also fantastic. For my second drink, I got the bees knees. It was one of the best I've had with lots of lavender and citrus coming through. Overall, I really loved DITA. Their cocktails and food were impressive. I love that their menu is absinthe centered. This is another jewel in the Mills Avenue crown.

I love gin and absinthe so I was really excited to try this place out, and then after arriving we discovered it was owned by the same people who do the Suffering Bastard in Sanford so I knew it was going to be amazing! Noah was our bartender and he was fantastic! He gave wonderful recommendations (otherwise I never would have tried the most delicious carrots ever) and made great drinks. We tried a few things from the menu and he was also happy to make my favorite off menu drink: The Last Word and it was so good. We came on a week night so they ended up being out of the jambon pastries and skirt steak, but that is good to know everything comes in fresh often. Just gives us an excuse to come back soon!

Went here early on a Friday night and got a table quickly so we may have gotten lucky. We started with old fashioneds, which were nice and smoky. Next time we will have to order an absinthe drink since they claim it's their specialty. We ordered a meatball, bruschetta, chicken sliders, pulpo, and escargot. The sliders were the best as they were tender and flavorful. The pulpo and meatball were great, but the escargot were a little too big for me. I prefer slightly smaller ones. Overall it was a good time with some delectable food, so will be back again.

Had a fantastic time here. Located right on mills 50, Death in the Afternoon is very unassuming when you first walk up to the building, but once you get inside, Wow! Place is beautifully decorated, albeit on the smaller side, so reservations are highly recommended. Went for happy hour and they had some decent discounts available but the food selections were still great! Service was prompt and there is a time limit for how long you stay so be aware of that. Will definitely come again .

We came here just for drinks. The place is cool and cozy, we got a both because we were a party of three and didn't want to sit at the bar. The drinks are pretty good. We got some of the happy hour menu drinks and they definitely hit the spot (for the price). The regular menu drinks were also good but not amazing, but if you factor in the quality/rarity of liquor, then you understand the pricing and flavors. All in all, a good place to relax and have a deep conversation.
