Such a lovely little hole in the wall latin restaurant. It's a mom and pop restaurant, a lovely lady, her son and other members of the family all work here. The service is super quick you'll never be waiting more than 5 minutes for a smoothie. Their lunch plates are only $7 that comes with a meat, rice, tostones and another side. The quality of the food is top tier, makes me feel like I'm at home all cozy with just one bite. I always get a mango smoothie with water instead of milk and it so delicious, they also have TONs of pastry's that are super fresh and yummy. Looking for a quick lunch bite? Here ya go! Be sure to make it before 2 because once she runs out of food, she closes.

Delicious, homemade latin food at an incredible price. You can't beat the $5.99 lunch specials, that come with your meat choice, rice, beans, plantains, and a drink. They are on ubereats now! By far the best value restaurant I've found on ubereats.I tried the pernil (roast pork) and the baked salmon. Both were delicious and fresh. The pork was as good as any roast pork I've had before, and the salmon was very good, with lime and fresh dill as seasoning. The beans are delicious, thick, and taste wonderfully homemade.Would recommend it for anyone looking for tasty, affordable latin food.

4 stars for a great hole-in-the-wall Latin restaurant. My wife and I decided to stop by Dabeni's, located on Michigan near Orange Ave, the other day to grab a quick bite of lunch. We walked inside and encountered a small little restaurant and a pleasant older woman behind the counter. I'm not sure if the woman was the owner, but she was very pleasant and willing to answer any questions we had while also dealing with the lunch rush. After looking over the menu (which included breakfast items being available at 1pm...nice!), I decided to order a media noche sandwich. After placing my wife's and I's order, I went to pay, but I guess you wait to pay until after you are done with your meal (talk about trusting your clients). This actually worked out well since I decided to order a drink later on, so I appreciated that small different aspect. In terms of the media noche, it was a solid sandwich. While I'm not usually a rice and beans guy, the ones that came with my sandwich were indeed tasty and made for a good complete meal. Considering that the prices here are so cheap (I think I spent about $10 on both of our meals combined), getting such quality for such low prices helps this venue stand out.Overall, Dabeni's is a nice little Latin restaurant with low prices, solid food, and good service. If you are looking to grab a quick bite for lunch, Dabeni's is worth giving a try.

I tried this place twice so far. Staff is incredibly kind. I like to practice my Spanish skills here. I absolutely love empanadas and eat them on a weekly basis from a variety of places. My first experience here left me with oil and grease stains in my car due to seeping through the to-go bag:( There is no denying that the chicken, beef, and cheese empanadas are delicious. However, during my second visit I ended up with an upset stomach shortly after eating here.

Man I've never been so torn on writing a review before. After passing this place a few times and looking over reviews, I decided to stop in at 11 am and see what everyone's been talking about on the reviews. 1st impressions walking in, is that this place has obviously been here forever and a day. It's like walking into grandmas kitchen and waiting in her dining room for lunch. I ordered the Cuban Sandwich and a beef empanada. As I ordered, I was told that they were out of the fries that everyone talks about. It's not a deal killer so I figure they would give me another choice. I sat down and within 5 minutes the lady who took my order asked me if I wanted yellow or white rice and beans on them? I opted for yellow rice and beans. The rice and beans came ahead with the empanada while the sandwich was being made. Let me tell you one thing. The rice and beans were the star of this palace! That rice and beans was just and I mean just like my grandma made. Even the lady behind the counter said that it was the grandma of the restaurants recipe. It tasted so familiar yet cozy. That dish was the wild card. I think the universe aligned and conspired against me and those fries everyone talks on their reviews about so I could have that delish rice and beans. I could come here just for a bowl of it! I loved it so much that I really have no opinion of the empanada . It was good. What else can I say. Then the sandwich showed up. That's when my face went from smile to frown. I took the big piece of bread and opened it. If you grew up on the 80s, you know the one burger commercial where the grandma asks "where's the beef?" That's what I keep asking. There was only one slice of ham, half a slice of cheese and what seems like one slice on pork chopped up. I was so disappointed . This whole time I kept picturing the Cuban sandwiches everyone took pictures of on their reviews on here and then I get this. The bread was good. The Sandwich gets a 2.5 out of 5. The flavor is there just needs more. The pork also was dry. Now I wondered why my pork was dry and why my sandwich was so empty. It's only 11am. The lunch rush hasn't hit yet for them to run out. Idk. I just know that I kept asking my self " where's the beef". One last thing. My rating on this place is strictly based on the rice and beans and the lady who was working. She was absolutely wonderful. She was so nice. Took care of my order, we chatted about the grandma who's recipes are the base for the food here. I felt like I was in my grandmas kitchen. Service is def excellent. Just where the heck did my Ham and Pork from my sandwich go?!?!?!?

Finally checked this place out. I am only in the office one week out of the month & today since i had didn't being lunch & everyone is always raving about their food, i ordered their lunch special which includes 1 meat & 3 sides plus a drink for $5.99 it's an additional $1.99 delivery if the order total is under a certain amount. Each day they have a diff special. I called at 12 & they were already sold out of the pepper steak ( lunch starts at 11 until 2) so i went with the sautéed pork chop with yellow rice, pinto beans and sweet plantains. They said it would 15-30 mins for delivery the food was delivered in about 8 mins. It was hot , flavorful & a nice portion of food for a lunch special. The food was great i will be returning.

I went to Dabeni's this morning to get breakfast specifically because it is walking distance to my home and I saw in the previous pictures uploaded by yelpers that they had quesitos which are one of my favorite treats! I got a breakfast meal with eggs, potatoes and toast with bacon. The ordering process was a bit off. She asked if I wanted fried egg or scrambled egg. Then asked if I wanted coffee or hot tea. I asked about juice which was listed as an option but there was no juice to be had. I also expected her to ask if I wanted to add bacon or sausage but she didn't so I said "I'd like bacon too". She said, "do you want both orders on the same plate?" And to clarify we had to return through the entire ordering process to indicate that I only wanted 1 breakfast but that I wanted bacon to be added to that one breakfast. The toast included was more of a Cuban sandwich bread but I am not complaining about that I was not asked if I wanted breakfast potatoes or fries either. I was unhappy with what I received mostly due to not requesting fries and receiving crappy breakfast potatoes that were mushy with a weird flavor profile. After the meal I asked whether they had quesitos and just got a terse "no". Not "we usually do but we're out, check again next time." They really dropped the ball here with service because I could be in there frequently for pastries and breakfasts if they simply improved communication processes.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Let me start off by saying this is NOT a Cuban restaurant or bakery. They do not have croquetas, papa rellenas or other traditional Cuban essentials. I order a large cafe con leche she tells me it's $3 ($1.89 is what I usually pay) and tostadas. I paid $6. I got my cafe con leche and it tasted watered down and I asked her why she said it was brewed coffee with milk, not Cuban espresso with milk that a cortadito that size costs $5.50. I told her to change it she gave me a small one. I put sugar in my expensive expresso with milk and asked for my tostada to go. I was annoyed at this point and didn't bother to check my tostada, who could mess that up? This place did. Their version of a tostada (toast) is a little bit of melted butter on a piece of old cold (not toasted) bread wrapped in aluminum foil.

Four stars for a very inexpensive, fast service restaurant featuring Ecuadorian food!Delbini's is located in a small plaza right at the intersection of Orange and Michigan in Sodo. The plaza has it's own parking a is pretty easy to reach. The interior is small and not at all fancy. However, they clearly do a brisk business and we saw a bunch of people picking up to-go orders. We opted to sit down to eat as we wanted to get something of the breakfast menu and not from the small (tasty looking) pre-made selection.I ended up ordering the Ecua. This is basically a sweeter version of mofongo shapped into a ball. It came with a slice of pan seared white cheese (yum) and long slices of fried eggs. Overall, it was really interesting and I enjoyed it. Especially since it was under six dollars for a huge plate of food. Overall, this is a fun, fast casual eatery offering Ecuadorian food for cheap.
