Connie's Cafe

While in Deland for an appointment we asked for a lunch recommendation. She suggested Connie's Cafe. It's in the main part of town but down a small alley. If we were not told where it was I never would have found it. I assume it's mostly a local clientele. As we walked in we were promptly given a friendly greeting by the girl behind the counter. I had to ask if we ordered at the table but to my disappointment it's. Order and pick up at the counter. It was hard to read the board behind her because of the glare. When I mentioned that she said there was a menu posted on the side wall that was a little easier. It would be nice to have a few menus you can hold and peruse. We decided to share a Rueben and we each got a bowl of one of the daily soups. We each chose the Red Velvet, a creamy chicken soup nicely spiced to give it a reddish color. We enjoyed our food and friendly service.

Good food and good value! Also have some good vegetarian options using veggie patties.

Great little place. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Stopped in here looking for something new to try outside of the town I live in while running errands. Food was really good and fresh. You can tell the person cooking likes doing it and cares about quality. A great place to stop for lunch.

Nested in downtown, great for a quick lunch. Such a great variety, loved the soups, fish and chips is my favorite and you can't beat the homemade desserts. All around good food, price and service.

We stumbled upon this place since everything else in town was closed. This hole in the wall cafe really came through. Had pretty tasty burger and reuben.

Connie's cafe is a hidden gem in Deland. The homemade food and excellent service make them a place to support and enjoy!

Had a great roast beef sandwich & a side salad. Husband had the patty melt. Both had GREAT FLAVOR!

Use to be cooks cafe. Still the same good food and same good prices. Cheaper healthier and tastier than fast food.

Soup in bread bowls. Homemade soup at that.... that's all I have to say! Yum... the soups are homemade and delicious!!!

A family favorite in DeLand, with a great variety of lunch items. Super affordable, my family of 5 can eat for around $25. I have been coming here since it first opened as Cooks Cafe, and was worried when it changed name/management, but wasn't disappointed. They still have the famous chicken velvet soup, and my family says it tastes even better than before!
