Cilantro's Taqueria

One of my favorites! Food is always fresh and tasty. Great specials and happy it's walking distance!

2 of us ordered today's special of a fajita chicken taco, a carnitas taco, a cheese empanada (I may have the name of that wrong), chips with a perfect sized salsa side for the amount of chips, and a drink. Great deal! Great choice! The food there is amazingly fresh and delicious. The place is smallish, but does have room for several groups of 6 or 7 with nice high top tables. Also has a couple smaller tables. The kitchen is right there, and everything is absolutely spotless. (Even the bathroom is spotless!) Not really in our neighborhood, but very easy access for workers in the downtown area, surrounding neighborhoods, or anyone with business at OH or anywhere downtown. Counter service, with friendly, patient owners and workers. What a gem!

I happened upon Cilantro's while at Hourglass Brewing and wasn't really feeling any of the food truck options they had that night. As a sodo local with gringos, tin and taco, and black rooster all a stone's throw away, I was really impressed! While most a la carte tacos are averaging close to $5 a piece nowadays, the tacos here ranged between $3-4 and came with chips and house made salsa, both classic and verde. I LOVED the salsa verde, more sweet than spicy!! I got fish, shrimp and carne asada taco, all were delicious. I'm assuming white meat tacos come with cojita cheese and red meat tacos come with more of a shredded blend. It is walk-up style ordering; you pay using the new iPad POS systems which we all hate but oh well it's the way of the future, and you seat yourself with a ticket number. You can tell it is a family owned and operated establishment. The same man that took our order came to check on us while we ate, and staff preparing the food also participated in delivering food to the table.

Cilantro's offers Mexican and Tex Mex style dishes plus empanadas. We didn't order their tacos (not sure anything will quite compare to the tacos I had on the street in Mexico City). I chose good ole Tex-Mex fajitas. While the seasoning was good, the portions were small. The young man at the counter who sold us the special of the day didn't mention the sides were separate. I saw fajita dinner on the menu and thought it was the option I would get fajitas with rice and beans. He didn't ask me if it was my preference, I asked for the fajitas. He ordered a single fajita. The inside was clean and had nice art displays. I enjoyed the art and music the most. However, the soda machine only served caffeine free Diet Coke. I improvised and mixed it with a tad of regular Coke but it wasn't the same. Overall, I chose this restaurant due to its high Yelp reviews/scores and food pics. The burrito would have been the best thing to try but I didn't know. I wasn't sure why a Mexican place served fajitas so I was curious. The single fajita was good but not too filling. Overall, it's a cute place but the food wasn't five star by any means.

This taco spot is located in a hipster-ish area and some friends recommended it so I was expecting some great tacos. I can't say I was happy with them. They were very overpriced and just meh. I don't really have anything else to say about this place.

Love this place. It's a great little spot that's tasty for lunch. Taco Tuesday is a great deal and they have a variety of options for the tacos and the drinks. Parking is a bit difficult, but it's worth it. Just note, they are closed on Mondays!

Cilantros is a gem of a restaurant in the Curry Ford/Hourglass District area. The owner, Edward, is always there and so friendly and helpful whenever we visit. I am not typically a beef taco fan but do not sleep on the beef tacos at Cilantro's! They are out of this world. All their tacos come with chips and tasty homemade salsa. My daughter loves their cheese empanadas. They always have great combination specials on the board up front. There is a hot sauce bar and a fountain station, along with coolers with awesome selection of Mexican sodas, beer and other beverages. They also have fresh agua frescas available. Every time we visit there is great music playing over the speakers.

Cilantro's is authentic, fresh and has a super cool atmosphere. The servers were friendly and the service is super quick. My dad and I went here together and we got the fish tacos (my dads favorite- he goes there often) and they sure did not disappoint. The fish was cooked to perfection and had a nice crisp on it. I really liked their salsa and that they give you a lime wedge was a nice touch.I've also tried a steak burrito and that is excellent as well. Next time I would get an order of their guacamole as well, that looked delish! It also comes with chips! The only thing missing from cilantros would be a margarita, but not to worry they do have beer & wine! I will for sure return here.

Can't say enough about this little gem in the Hourglass district. Big props to the sweet lady working that grill. Feels like your in your moms casa and she's got something special on the way. From the grill to your plate lickity split authenticity! The carnitas I ordered were amazing and well priced. Tired of the big chain stuff, check them out. Real authentic Mexican food.

HOW did the place fall off my radar!? Was last here in 2019 and was hoping it was as good as I remembered, it was-and even better! Absolutely love this spot and the amazing flavors they are serving up. It's a small spot but their seasoning and authentic tacos are so delicious. Love the green tomatillo salsa on their shrimp taco, it was my go to here. It's a smaller place in the hourglass district, but worth a trip here to enjoy some tacos and flautas. Cannot wait to come back and try more items.
