Chubby's Hot Dogs & Subs

Chubbies: Fresh Dogs, Funky Toppings As part of my ongoing glizzy tour around town, I decided to give Chubbies a try. I'll start with the good: the hot dog and bun were absolutely fresh--the dog was juicy and perfectly grilled, and the bun had just the right balance of soft and toasted. But here's the catch--the toppings were a different story. The sauerkraut and relish both had a strange, funky taste that immediately made me question their freshness. The sauerkraut tasted like it had been hanging around a little too long, and the relish... well, it just didn't have that crisp, tangy zing you expect. It's a real shame because the base of the dog was solid, but those funky toppings really let the whole thing down. If you're in the mood for a fresh dog and bun, Chubbies is on point, but be prepared to skip the sauerkraut and relish if you want the full experience.

I had to try this place recommended by a friend for a Chicago hotdog. Went here during my lunch hour with my husband. They have an outside seating with umbrellas which is nice and a few tables inside. You walk up and place an order directly to the cashier. We waited for at least 20 minutes for our hotdogs. Hotdog is supposed to be a quick meal. The dog itself was good, but the bun got cold and mushy. Honestly we had better.

A gem of a place and a great lunch stop. Had a Chicago dog basket. The dog was great and the fry's were perfect!

So I guess it has been quite a while since the last time I stopped in here. I was in the neighborhood and hungry and had time so I came in. I've always enjoyed the food here and I was not disappointed. From the outside, nothing has changed. It looks exactly the same as it did years ago. When I first walked inside, everything looked similar, except there were some subtle differences. The first thing you would notice is that the seating has been changed. I walked up to the counter, and the lady working pointed behind me and told me the menu was on the wall. I seem to remember it being behind the counter. The prices have risen over time, but they seem fairly reasonable. I went over the menu to see what was different and most of it looked fairly familiar. I decided to try something new and got a Polish sausage on this visit. I don't think I've ever ordered one here before I got it Chicago style with no tomato as usual, and I got it as a basket which comes with fries and a small drink. When ordering one of the first things you should notice is these aren't the people I used to have when I came home. It was a good couple. Who's English wasn't great, but we're fantastic to deal with. The two people working in there on this occasion were quite a bit younger, but just as nice. You did a great job with my order and it was very happy with my selection. I feel like there were less french fries in the basket that I used to get but still plenty for me. Shoestring fries, which are one of my favorites And the Polish sausage is Vienna beef rather than the Maxwell Street. It was perfect for the day. I got some lemonade from the soda machine and I wasn't happy with it so I switched to a Dr Pepper which hit the spot. I hope I get to come back again soon so I can explore further into the menu and try some of my old favorites here. If you like Chicago style food, this is a great place to stop.

The chubby hot dog is so good! And the walls have hot dog art. It gives a certain hot dog mood. And the cashier is nice and the food is brought right to the table. The service and environment is great. First time here and loving

Delicious!! Okay I'm originally from NYC so I love me some pizza and hot dogs. It's almost always hard to find a place that offers red onion sauce instead of grilled onions here in FL. I have passed by this location more than a thousand times but it's kind of hidden in plain sight to be honest. I ordered 4 Chubby hotdogs. 3 with Red onion sauce, sauerkraut and ketchup and then ordered a Chicago style one. The wait was about 10 mins but definitely worth the wait. They were so tasty and juicy definitely weren't just sitting in water. They have 3 / 4 sizes of hot dogs and they have a good amount of other items on their menu. They have sitting inside and outside. Pictures when I return I was so hungry when we ordered I totally forgot to take pictures.

The pizza puff is spot on. It tastes just like the ones I had when I was younger living in Chicago.

My friend had a taste for hot dogs so we stopped here. Let me start out by saying she doesn't know how the hot is because shes allergic to mustard. So why is mustard on her hot dog. This was the same question we asked because she ordered ketchup, mayo and pickles. I offered to go back but she just threw it away‍.The corn dog was okay. 3 stars because the person was very polite and offered good and fast service. Side note: ALWAYS check your food before leaving. She says she'll try them again perhaps in the future. Stay tuned for that review

Was completely blown away. Stopped only because it was close to my destination. Had no idea that the meal would take me back in Chi-town. The half Italian Beef is perfect. Definitely recommend going there.

Great service & food taste very fresh, also the sweet lady really has a great vibe furthermore enhancing the food quality even more. 100% recommended for anyone new visiting the city.
