China Star Restaurant

Sketchy little place but food is great! My favorite is boneless spare ribs. I like them dry and not soaked in sauce. This place makes it different than other places.

China Star is a Chinese restaurant located in the Rosemont Plaza and offers the typical Americanized Chinese takeout food and the typical setting that you would expect for such a restaurant to have.Please don't misunderstand when I say Americanized Chinese food. I do not mean it as an insult, rather it is the food that I grew up on when I rhought Chinese food. It is what most places would describe as New York style Chinese food and have blazing on a neon sign behind a window. I love this particular style of food, however, I do not anyone to mistake this for me and authentic Chinese restaurant when a offer an upscale version a food from distinctive provinces in China.I have chosen to give this establishment three stars () because while not terrible, nothing really stands out as being incredible either. I guess the best word to describe this place would be, would be as an average Chinese restaurant. If you are close by to this establishment and one Chinese food, as I was, I stopped. You can do the same and it will satisfy your Chinese food craving oh, but you won't be raving about this establishment.

I ordered a Wonton soup from this Chinese food place and completed the soup to fine a disgusting long finger nail at the bottom of my container. I can't describe how grossed out I was to discover this, then I call them to tell them what I discovered and they had the alldasithy to accuse ME!!!!!do not eat here they need to be shut down for this crap they are selling to the public especially during COVID.

Quality and quantity. Located in a shopping plaza, this hidden gem serves authentic Chinese cuisine. Not many seating options for dining in (if any at all), so ordering to go would be your best bet. 3 of 5 for dining options

China Star was decent. I ordered General Tso's chicken with white meat for a $1 upcharge. The sauce is best described as garlicky-sweet. The chicken is fried in a tempura style, which is unique for General Tso's chicken. The eggroll was okay. Nothing spectacular. The fried rice lacked flavor. I used 3 packs of soy sauce to make it adequate. Now that I think about it: why do most places charge more for General Tso's chicken? It's made with dark meat, but it costs more than sweet & sour chicken, for example. But I digress...This place is okay. If I'm in the area I might try them again. But I won't go out of my way to come here.

I've been so disappointed with other Chinese take out places that I'd pretty much given up, it's always either too greasy or not fresh or a combination of the two...but then enter China Star. It was my first time ordering from this place and it was delicious! I had the Hunan chicken lunch special with white rice...white meat, extra spicy, and a wonton soup. It was under $7 for everything.The chicken dish had recognizable pieces of white meat chicken and lots of fresh veggies-carrots, onions, celery, peppers, baby corn, etc. and the sauce was the perfect level of spicy with a little bit more of a kick but not too hot. I poured it over the rice. The wonton soup could've used the little pork strips in the broth but the wontons themselves were good.Next time I think I'll try something with beef and maybe the fried rice. Highly recommend!

I threw away all that chicken I paid for-Y'all they are selling lab grown meat.. you can tell when you break it apart in pleces not to mention that textureGROSS!lost my business permanently.

food not taste good at all . the food tasted like it was cooked in old water. My stomach is very nauseous after eating two pieces of fried chicken and a scoop of fried rice. I will never come back here the women in the front was so rude while taking my order that I didn't even bother asking for a refund. Do not eat here if you want Good quality food.

The boneless spare rib is weirdly sweet and dry! The spring roll wasn't the fresh at all!

I fished out a metal piece out of my mouth. I pretty sure it's from a stainless steel sponge. I won't finish my meal. Nor bother taking it back. I'm pretty sure they'll deny it.
