LOCAL REVIEW: I have yet to find a fried chicken place as good as Chicken Fire. Their chicken is crispy, juicy, and their seasoning blend is my favorite. For me, I notice flavors of Cajun and mesquite. Their Buttermilk Coleslaw also is the perfect addition to their spicy chicken. Location-wise, it's located in a grocery store plaza with free parking lot so that's always a plus for me! Sometimes the traffic can be overwhelming on East Colonial, but I don't find it to be a deterrent to make a visit. There is indoor seating with a nice "people watching bar" along the window. I'm not going to knock off a star, but the bathroom is a bit dirty with a wobbly toilet seat, so I'd avoid that if you can help it.

I remember when this was a food truck at ala carte. I am not a fan of spicy or hot so I always skipped over their offerings. Years later they have a physical location and upon review I see they offer a "soul full" option which is all the seasoning and none of the heat. Sounded great so I gave it a shot. The restaurant is let say a well used space in a building that is not new. They apparently have some leaks in the ceiling as evidenced by the stained saggy drop ceiling. So ambiance is not real high. The staff however was great! Super friendly and helpful with ordering. (Ordering done on a tablet) but she was right there for any questions which was appreciated. The price is great too. I always like when you can get a decent meal for under $15.The food was great. I did the combo with fries and the fries had a seasoning on them which was pretty tasty. The person I was eating with said the fries reminded them a lot of the taco bell fries (I have never tried) and she enjoyed them. The Chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside and had some great flavor to it. I did the sandwich and next time I think I would pass on the bun as there was nothing remarkable about it. I think it sort of hid the great flavor of the chicken. The place was pretty busy for a late Saturday afternoon so I suspect there are many others who know how tasty this is. I recommend checking this place out if you are in the neighborhood.

A local gem that sets the standard for spicy fried chicken and french fries. The Munch Box is a delicious fried chicken slider served with coleslaw and pickles in a buttery brioche bun with some of the most amazing crinkled fries. However, the Hot Box, also 5 stars, is savory fried chicken with heaping amounts of coleslaw and pickles all on top of crispy crinkled fries. Just keep in mind that most non-fire eaters probably want to keep the heat level at meek or soulful.

Everything is made to order so it does take some time but I can say it is well worth the time. I highly recommend the extra seasoned fries and the soul sauce. I had the hottest chicken that you can order. I can handle extreme spicy it was such a great flavor and had a nice kick but it could be spicer for me. My husband and their version of mild and he loved it. The place is smaller and seats are limited but well worth it. We will definitely go back and highly recommend.

I walked in and was greeted immediately and felt very welcomed. The place is very small but there's tables to dine in if you want to. I ordered the chicken "hot box" tender box which comes with two very big tenders, fries, bread, slaw and a sauce for dipping. The chicken was very perfectly breaded. I got the soulful seasoning and I liked it a lot.

I had Chicken Fire saved for a while before I was finally able to visit. It is located off Colonial in a strip mall with plentiful, yet slightly difficult parking. Walking in there are two iPads to order from and a few tables. There was not much in the way of decor inside, it almost seemed like a takeout only restaurant. Everything is served in a brown paper box. I chose to get a box which was fries on the bottom, chopped hot chicken (I chose mild which had some heat), coleslaw, sauce and pickles. It was good. Definitely very spicy and I typically do medium but mild was enough here. Overall it was good, but not significantly better than other hot chicken locations. It was just spicier than them.

Picked up some food from here, upon arriving it was very busy but my order was ready! My husband and I went to a park to eat the food but unfortunately they forgot the utensils and napkins (I requested them on the app) so it wasn't the most pleasant experience eating since we couldn't wipe our hands or eat the cole slaw since we didn't have utensils. The chicken was literally FIRE and tasted sooo good. The fries were perfectly seasoned and the sauce was AMAZING. I will say, a 2 oz sauce container is definitely not enough for 2 jumbo chicken tenders and fries, so next time I'll be getting another. Also- the bread was a little disappointing since it was just a piece of white bread all smushed on the bottom of my chicken box. Overall the food was delicious and we will be returning, I will just be checking my bag before leaving and getting 2 sauces.

Chicken Fire is a local chicken spot over in the Colonial area that focuses on hot chicken sandwiches and tenders. If you're a fan of heat then this is the spot for you. This is more so a small chicken joint with limited seating especially considering the fact that seats fill quickly. The staff is very much friendly and they will give you a fair warning about the spice level of their chicken prior to you ordering. I opted for the mild chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich is dressed very well. It's served on a bun with slaw and their own sauce. My first thought biting into it was the mild definitely has a bit of a punch to it. The slaw pairs very well to give it a freshness and cut into the spice. The sauce provides a necessary tang to the sandwich that I appreciated. The chicken is seasoned well and is very crispy. The fries have a bit of a different taste to it than I expected. They're crispy for sure but the seasoning on top is a bit sweet. This wasn't my favorite. The bottom line, very friendly and helpful staff and the food is high quality. There aren't a ton of places that offer the combination of high quality food. Highly recommend.
