Calypso Bar & Grill

Review #862.My wife and I attended a banquet that was prepared Calypso Bar & Grill. The banquet facility is adjacent to the restaurant. Let me tell you if the quality of the food that I had is any indication of what is being served in the restaurant then this is a Diamond in the rough. I had some prime rib that was probably one of the best that I've ever had. All of the other vegetables, and side dishes were equally prepared just as well.The staff and the bartenders that were running the event was very friendly, very courteous and to work on their game. Now the Evening that I was there, upon exiting the building, I noticed that they had signs saying cash only. I'm going to assume that they had computer issues with regards to credit card processing that evening. So you may want to check ahead. I am looking forward to trying this restaurant on my own in the future.

They don't know how to handle a rush... the service was good, the wait for the food an hour a half! When finally came it was frozen cold!

This place was just what I needed as a guest in this hotel/condo. Each person gets a free drink the first night of their stay. Service is fast. Delivery is even faster. A cute little find for those staying in a hotel and don't want to be overwhelmed with large amounts of people at tourist locations. Very quiet and good place for a conversation with the girls!

It's all about the happy hour. $7 for 10 wings, $5 for 2 slices of pizza, and $2 domestic drafts make me happy. The weekly specials are also really good. Everything from steak and pasta specials to margarita and buy one get one drinks. There is a pool table and dart board for those needing some additional entertainment. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The decor could use some huge improvements, but I can overlook that for the savings.

We stayed in the resort so it was convenient and fairly cheap. That is the only nice things I have to say.The service was abysmal. It seems like the staff is all related and maybe had friends and/or family dining in the outside area because that's where they basically hung out/socialized our whole stay. At one point we literally had to almost yell to get the attention of a server ( not ours) to get a refill on our drinks that we had placed with our actual server over 15 min prior. The food was passable, nothing special. Our whole experience was irritating.If you're wondering whether to eat here, or somewhere else- choose somewhere else.

The Best large cheese pizza ever!!!! 18" for $12 can't beat that. Thin crust like NYC pizza. The waitresses there were awesome. They will work with ya Taylor Made meal with Southern hospitality! They treated me like a local . Never mind NY water magic in the pizza. Orlando magic water in the pizza is da truth! Mad props to the chef what a wonderful dinner after Global Pet Expo. Will come again with smiles. Even hooked Security with a fresh slice of dat pie!

Orlando's best kept secret as I like to call it. 4 stars only because the interior is very outdated but hey it's a dive bar. Great happy hour. Mondays are buy 10 wings get 10 free. You can eat and drink well for under $20 bucks.

Food was passable and it goes downhill from there, only 3 people working on a Tuesday night is acceptable especially since there were only 3 tables and two people at the bar. But we went 15 minutes without seeing a server after having ordered another round of drinks and when we finally managed to get somebodies attention they didn't even know we had ordered drinks. On top of that the staff is socializing with their family the whole time and at one point a woman is pouring shots at the bar with a toddler in her arms. Classy. Over all very unprofessional if not nice people but if nice is the best thing I can say than I think you may need to find new wait staff.

Happy Hour at the bar! Great prices and the Calypso shrimp were delicious! Perfect spot to grab a drink when staying at the hotel.

Great service. Very accommodating. Good food. Shrimp tacos were very good. Beautiful breeze poolside.
