Black Rooster Taqueria is a gem in the Mills 50 district in Orlando. I took my husband here for the first time, and he loved it.BRT has a warm and welcoming vibe, and the service is fantastic. It is small and has limited seating, but it is worth the wait if you don't find a spot. There's also an outdoor seating area, perfect for these upcoming cooler weather months. We started with an order of guacamole and chips, which were made fresh. The guacamole was delicious. We got the achiote pork taco, chicken tinga taco, black roosters asada taco, and carne asada taco. The meat was tender and juicy. I have to highlight that the tortillas are not your typical tortillas; they are handmade, and therefore, sometimes they can break down, but they are delicious. To drink, I got the hibiscus iced tea (something I tried during a trip to Mexico, and I loved it)Overall, the food was amazing. Parking is tricky, as usual, in the Mills50 area. There are spots behind the building.

2 on ambiance: very small place with a lot of people3 on food: I got 4 carne asada tacos and 1 pork belly. All of the taco tortillas broke apart. They may need to serve 2 tortillas per taco to have a little more strength. The carne asada Mexican flavor with the radish, onion and cilantro was there but the meat was a bite dry. But the pork belly tacos were 5 out of 5 best in town!!1 on the service: I called in my order to try and cut some waiting time and I paid right after I got there but they still took more then 30 mins to get my order to me.

Stopped in for a late dinner treat after drinks next door at Guest House. Me and my bestie left wishing we ordered more because it was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot. You walk in and wait in line to order. You can gaze into the kitchen while waiting or even sit right in front of their kitchen windows. It's amazing to see how fresh everything is. Once we ordered our food we found a cozy booth. Seating is limited but you can also bring your food to the outside tables. Do not hesitate to get their chips and guac. It's homemade and the flavor is perfect. For tacos I got the carne Asada and it was so good. I loved the fresh ingredients in that as well. We didn't order a crazy amount of food but we are so excited to go back.

Stopped by for lunch after a busy day. Used to frequent this location when I lived closer but now it's a treat when I'm in the area. When we arrived it wasn't very busy. There were a couple of tables, but no one in line, no one waiting. There aren't a ton of tables or seats so it does fill up quickly. The woman who took our order seemed very unhappy. Perhaps she was having a bad day - never know - but she never even looked at us, didn't smile at all and seemed generally unhappy to be there. In contrast, the person who brought our food over to the table was delightful and cheery. I had a chicken taco and a fish taco. Chicken taco was just alright - not bad at all, just not "wow", fish taco was DELICIOUS. I wish I got two, although the single taco is generous in portion. I'd go back for that fish taco. Guacamole was good, but not as earth shattering as I remembered it to be. Hubby had pork taco and chicken taco - both were okay. I will say we were impressed with the shells - they held up even with hefty fillings. I'll be back to give it another go.

Another local legend in the books for me. I don't know why it took me so long to come here, but in terms of word-of-mouth, this place is like in the top five of popularity. So I grabbed some friends and went to see what this place was all about. Ambiance is very good. It's like a Hispanic dive bar. Very tight and comfy and with very fun artwork all over the walls. It's counter service, and has an open kitchen. Very nice employees all around, and you can see the gang having fun in the kitchen, just creating a good vibe. As for the food, well, it was out of this world. There are 10 main tacos on their menu, so we ordered one of each, of course. Because if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. The menu said that these are corn tortillas, but there's something special about these corn tortillas. They act like flour tortillas. They are very soft and fold very well. I didn't have one break on me the whole time. Very good tortillas. As for the fillings, they really give you great bang for your buck. The tortillas are filled up and couldn't get any fuller honestly. High quality stuff. Every ingredient tasted very vibrant and fresh. And unlike other taco shops that just give you different combinations of the same eight ingredients five at a time, this place has unique ingredients for each one of their 10 tacos. Something small, and maybe not everyone would notice, but I noticed, and I thank the Black Rooster. Looking back, I couldn't possibly remember all of the tacos and describe all of them, but I will highlight some things. The Chicken Tinga was the biggest surprise for how good it was compared to initial predictions. The Atlantic cod in the Crispy Fish taco was amazing. It's a fatty enough fish to really be something substantial. Don't sleep on their vegetarian options. Their smoked kale was omg, mind blowingly good. I finished up with a Tres Leches Cake (3 milk soaked sponge cake). This was ok. If you're a tres leches fan, but don't want to order too many tacos, for fear of not having room for dessert, just get the taco. Overall, I understand now. This place was amazing. It's not even fair how much better it is over all other taco places in town.

Pros: Amazing location. Right in the heart of Mills 50. Cozy little building. Service was very friendly. Tacos were ready very quickly. And the tacos were lovely. Very soft and toasty and strong tortillas. These tacos were loaded with toppings, and the tortillas held up to them well. And those toppings were delicious, too. Good chicken, good pork, a filet of crispy fish, and even the veggie ones were so good!Cons:No cons. Only that there could be more seating. But what can you do. Tips:If the taco sounds good to you, get it, you'll like it. There wasn't a bad one we tried. If you think you'll get full, these tacos run large, so under order at first and order more if you need. Don't be afraid of that smoked kale. It was unexpectedly delicious.

Always love coming to black rooster! They have some amazing tacos - ranging from brisket, to pork belly, chicken tinga and carne asada... you honestly can't go wrong with what you pick!We did try something new today - their nachos! These were pretty unique. They were smothered in a pimento bean with pork in it, kale, and an egg on top. These had deep smokey flavors, and light & fresh toppings like guacamole and pico to balance it out. Never had nachos quite like it - they were really good! And of course the tacos were fantastic. Got my faves - carne asada and chicken tinga. Classics and delicious.Staff is always friendly, attentive, and relatively quick service! Highly recommend.

Black rooster is one of the best, if not the best tacos I've had in Orlando. Super authentic and they fresh make everything in house. Especially the hand pressed tortillas!! I am a huge fan of the Achiote Pork and the Chicken Tinga. My girlfriend loves the fish tacos too! The pieces of fish are generous as well! Also love the chips and guac. Some of the best guac I've had, fresh and delicious. Definitely stop by Black Rooster!! Seating is limited inside so if you cant get a spot get it to go!

Do not miss this restaurant if you are a fan of Mexican food! Since I really love Mexican food, I had my first meal in Orlando there. The small restaurant mostly sells Mexican street food, with a focus on tacos. Also, you order at the counter, and find a seat to wait for your food. I ordered a Pozole (sub fresh tortilla for tortilla chips), a smoked greens taco, a vegetarian taco and a side of plantains. All the dishes came out in a reasonable amount of time, and all of them were very delicious. I was about to shout out when I took the first bite of the pork in Pozole -- so tender, so juicy, plus a well-balanced spiciness and sourness (from lime juice). The smoked greens taco was creative -- the idea of putting ricotta cheese, plantains and greens on a taco seemed crazy for me, but it turned out to be amazing. And of course the tortillas were made freshly (you can see the staff making them in the kitchen). If I am to visit Orlando again I will definitely come back!

One of the better taquerias I have been to in quite some time, and very closely nipping on the heels of a 4-star rating. One of the very few drawbacks is the location and parking, but the service, speed, quality of ingredients, wide and varied menu, mix of knowns and personal spins on items, price, portions, and ambiance are all in the superior tier. The other drawback would be the execution; which was not uniform across the board.I would assess the range of items I ordered (all pictured) of C to B+ with an average of B-. The chips do not particularly impress me due to their flavor, texture, and lack of distinctiveness, but the flan and pozole will not be forgotten any time soon. The tacos and tamales are all good to slightly superior but not exceptional. Were I to live in Orlando, I would likely come here semi-regularly. All the same, this is a can't miss for any and all tastes. Highly recommended.
