Jin was an amazing server. He was very knowledgeable on the menu.We ended up getting a sushi boat, and although a bit pricey, it was delicious. The pork bao buns were amazing as well. The only thing I would change is the chopsticks. Being a somewhat pricey restaurant, I'd want non-wooden chopsticks. But that's a minor thing.

Stopped by this spot on Saturday night to try a new spot for sushi. Originally wanted to go to Amura, but decided to try something new. Akasaka has a chill vibe even when super busy. The Service was pretty good as well. Our server was attentive and made some pretty good recommendations. The food however was just ok. My crunchy sushi roll was not crunchy at all, but was still pretty tasty. The rainbow roll was also very good. The calamari was ok and pretty standard. Nothing special. My friends both had ramen bowls and enjoyed but wished for more noddles as they seemed to have a lot of broth afterwards. These bowls are definitely not of the caliber of a Domu. Overall, not a bad place but not a must visit.

So today I had a 1 PM reservation for Akasaka. I was seated a little bit early which was great. My server her name is Julia; I told her I have never been here before so I asked for a rundown of all the menus. She gave me a drink menu; there are cocktails, beer, red wine white wine, and cold sake as well as Japanese whiskey to choose from. For starters I got the lychee martini for $14 which comes with a skewer of a fish and a dried grape fruit slice on top. The cocktail I had was light and refreshing she said all the vodka and all of their martinis is housemaid vodka and it was absolutely phenomenal. The second drink that I ordered is a cucumber Mojito again for $14. For starters I got the sashimi platter which was $11.99 for three pieces of fish I specifically got the yellowtail because that is my favorite type of sashimi. Next for main entrée I ordered the honey glazed barbecue short ribs that come on a sizzling platter with onions underneath; she did want to let me know that the pieces of meat are a little bit fattier then if I ordered the New York steak and teriyaki sauce. That came with a side of white rice and miso soup. The miso soup has notes of bacon and seaweed that pair perfectly with the cubed tofu in it as well. My platter came out with my short ribs steaming and hot with the onions and the green chives on top. The honey glazed barbecue short ribs are absolutely phenomenal they are cooked to perfection; and they taste amazing. What I'm looking at on my plate is about I'm gonna say 15 to 18 sliced short ribs I am so happy I ordered this. For the short platter it is about $38. If you have not been to Akasaka sushi before it is off of the Sand Lake Parkway, Street in the Dr. Phillips area right near 60 vines. The ambience of this restaurant is modern meats sushi bar. Everything I'm looking at is light and full of color but also in neutral tones so it's a very calming restaurant. If you haven't been here I definitely recommend it I'm gonna give it 100 out of 10. From the service, to the very calming ambience, the drinks to the food this place is absolutely outstanding.

Dr. Phillips-Located in a "strip mall" of restaurants and stores, this place looks tiny and unassuming from outside. Walking in, it opens up to a huge restaurant and bar. Pretty impressive. Our waiter was very sweet but definitely not attentive at all. It took forever to get drinks and order our apps. The place was relatively empty at 5. Their menu is daunting, with tons of selections!! Very hard to choose, but we decided on the Bao buns and Coconut shrimp for our apps. VERY DELICIOUS! The Bao buns were soft, and the shrimp was crispy and flavorful. Aside from the yellow lettuce accompanying the Bao buns, they were super tasty! Coconut shrimp was a beautiful golden color with just the right amount of crunch and coconut flavor. We had a Blackberry Smash along with a Cucumber Mojito. Both very tasty as well. We both decided on a special roll. My roll, the funky monkey, was absolutely yummy! Tempura shrimp, avocado, asparagus, tataki tuna! Topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. Who could go wrong with that? My friend had the mango tango roll. She felt that the roll did not taste fresh and the cream cheese threw it off. I thought it was OK, but not anything I would order again. The women's bathroom was filthy and disgusting. I often judge a restaurant by how clean they keep their bathroom. This one was pretty bad. We both agreed that this was a one and done for us.

We came here for a weekday lunch when a lot of restaurants were closed for a hurricane. We we're so happy to find something that was open. it's located in a strip mall type area with multiple other restaurants. The front entrance is definitely overwhelming and inside is a bit rundown. The women's bathroom was awful. One of the doors was completely broken and the other one barely shut. I was pleased with the portion of wine they served. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and my husband got the beef bulgogi. My sushi was nothing special, but the bulgogi was very good. They don't seem to have any lunch specials so I would recommend going here for dinner. We were just happy something was open since our power was out.

The staff at Akasaka are very friendly and accommodating. Visited with a party of approximately 30 people. They offered a room (has habachi grills/tables that were not in use) or to seat the party together in the dining area. We opted for the dining area. The dining area ambiance is warm and inviting. We were able to sit on one side and had two booths next to the tables. Side note: If we had the chosen the room, we would have been able to have music played on speakers that are stationed in the room. I ordered two types of sushi - the cucumber roll and the sweet plantain tempura roll. Both were delicious. I also tried the oyster tempura which was good as well. For my entree, I ordered the Chilean sea bass with vegetables only. However I was too full from sampling the rolls and the oyster tempura to eat more than a piece of broccoli. The next day at home, I heated the bass and vegetables. Good for reheat. It was delicious. The sauce on the sea bass was really good. The vegetables were seasoned well. At the restaurant, I had a 'Summer in Japan'. The drink was presented well and tasted good. Parking on a Friday night was challenging. So pack some patience and prepare to potentially stalk people on their way to their car(s) to get a spot. I was fortunate to find one. There were even cars parked curbside in front of other businesses next door.

Service was amazing - our server was so nice! Sushi was fresh! The only thing that was not amazing was the hibachi (top sirloin steak and shrimp) but hoping this will get better once they have chefs to cook in front of you. The clear soup it came with was more flavorful than expected and was so good! I'd recommend the strawberry margarita, crunch munch roll and the flaming k roll!
