Ordo Restaurant

Beautiful conversion from the bar that occupied this space before. Starter bread and butter leaves a lot to be desired, 2/5.Beet salad, 4/5, but also my companion OUT OF NOWHERE chimed in for 'dressing on the side' when I was ordering. So I got a plate of ingredients. Haha. If I wanted to do work, then I would make my own food at home.Beef shashlik, 5/5. This is what I came for. It was fantastic. Marinated, juicy, well done. Grilled vegetables also marinated and charred well.Tuesday night special is plov rice dish which looked fine.Pistachio raspberry layer cake, 3/5. Not familiar with authenticity. It's too thick and berry is overpowered.

We tried Ordo, a restaurant serving Central Asian and Eastern European dishes, in the space formerly occupied by Players. We had never been to Players, but our friends had, and they remarked how Ordo was nicely decorated and remodeled. It was crowded on a Friday evening, almost every table was taken.We ordered beverages and some appetizers. The samsy was a flaky pastry filled with beef and onions with a dipping sauce. It only contained one, so we all had just a small taste. The vareniki were dumplings (pierogi) with potato filling and a sour cream dill sauce. This was more plentiful and we ordered them steamed. We also split a tray of soleniya, picked and fermented vegetables. The platter had an assortment of peppers, mushrooms, cabbage, tomatoes. Our beverages still hadn't arrived yet so we had to remind them.My friends ordered filet Mignon, mushroom risotto and jarovnya, meat and vegetables in a "unique frying pan." I ordered Plov - Uzbekistan's legendary national dish. The standard recipe is lamb meat, long grain rice, carrots, onions, garlic, cumin and coriander. My dish also had chickpeas and raisins. The best plov is made in a kazan, a large cast iron or aluminum pot. I ordered the Plov with beef, which was tender cubes of fragrant, spiced meat. I enjoyed the grilled, spiced and sweet nature of the dish. It was very filling. We enjoyed our meal -- expertly prepared, spices from the Silk Road, abundant and served on platters, pans, trays. The only glitch was that it took a long time for our dishes to come out, the filet came way after the other dishes, and it was cooked well rather than medium. Our server was friendly, though a little overwhelmed by the crowded room. It was late so we bypassed dessert -- only to run into our friends again at Jewel, picking up dessert.

This restaurant is a beautifully decorated addition to a nondescript strip mall in Deerfield. Its decorated beautifully with items that must be from the Silk Road. There were many interesting choices on the menu, and we ordered the soups, plov and momo- like dumplings. The soup came in short order, but we had a very long wait for our entrees. The server acknowledged the long wait and comped us a delicious creme brulee for dessert. All in all a nice place but be prepared to wait.

Surprisingly very good! This place from an outside POV didn't seem like much, but once you walk in, the ambience was a lot better! It's not the fanciest restaurant , but it's very very decent for what it offers. We were seated and shortly greeted by our waiter for our drinks and appetizers. Shortly after, we ordered our dinner with some recommendations from the waiter. The food was absolutely delicious! For the overall price, the ambience and food, it was well worth it! Will definitely return if I am in Deerfield again!

We went here with some neighbors to try a new place. It has recently opened, so I believe they still have some kinks to work out. I keep debating between 3 and 4 stars and settled on 4 stars to give them the benefit.We walked in early (5:30) and the place was empty. When we left it was full and buzzing. That's a good thing because I'd like to see the place succeed.I like my cosmopolitan. I wouldn't rave about the cocktails, but they are certainly sufficient.We had a lovely waitress who explained the food and what we should try. We followed her lead and had two of the dumpling type appetizers. They were very tasty and the sauce was very good.My hubby ordered the rice with lamb as his entree. I ordered a noodle dish. Next time I would order his meal or a similar one. The noodle dish has complex spices and was good. I just felt it was more "pasta-ish" than I anticipated. Definitely that is on me... I should have ordered something with more protein.The complementary bread was a nice touch.Throughout the meal the service became a little lacking. As the place got crowded, it was hard to get the attention of anyone. I don't blame our waitress. She was quite busy. I think the owners/management need to focus on solving the issue and visit the tables to see what they need when the wait staff is overwhelmed.We didn't have dessert. We were ready to go by that point.

Awsome food. Service is always amazing. great ambience. This hidden gem is concealed in a small clump of shops but don't let the location fool you. This is a truly amazing restaurant

The food was amazing , huge portions and great taste . The server was amazing , we did not have to wait for anything and she was there when we needed . And the times to get our food where perfect and great interior design and atmosphere !

What a treasure this place is. It opened quietly around Christmas time of 2023, with a proud sign announcing its grand opening. I did not pay much attention as I drove past this strip mall several times a week. How could something unique be hiding in a tiny shopping center in Highland Park!?Lo and behold I was astounded at this beautiful little restaurant that is within walking distance. As I opened the doors to the restaurant I was taken aback by the elegance of the space and pleasantly surprised to see it busy! It wasn't just busy. It was full. And the groups of friends and families gathered there all looked like they were enjoying a real meal; the kind I mean where you slow down to look your friends in the eyes and break bread together. The kind of meal where you enjoy each bite enough that you return your fork to the table so that you can chew, savor and swallow before taking another bite. Maybe it's just me but when food is not enjoyable then I tend to just gobble it, as it's utilitarian. But when food is good then I like to take my eat slowly and prolong the enjoyment. I digress. The interior of the restaurant is just lovely! I can't wait to dine it. But I was there to pick up a to go order. I returned home with my borscht and other goodies for my Eastern European husband, and gave him his dinner. He was just delighted. Finally I was giving him proper food he said. I laughed. Every sip of borscht was accompanied by a sigh of ecstasy it seemed. He loved the fresh herbs and goat cheese. Both my husband and mother in law decry my cooking. And it's fine. I'm not a trained Russian or Kyrgyzstani home cook but at least I can order food that gives that appearance.

A great change of pace, great food and efficient service. This was our first experience with this restaurant, we will be back.
