I have been on a chinese food strike because the restaurants near me have either closed or food quality has gone way down. I decided to finally order from Orang Garden, and I feel like an idiot for not doing it sooner. Best orange chicken I've had in years! It looked and tasted fresh, not over fried and moist. The crab rangoon was packed with well flavored filing. My husband got the vegetable egg foo young, it looked perfectly fried - not too hard, very soft. I can't wait to order again!

A staple. I really loved their orange chicken and their sweet and sour chicken was solid as well. They are always quite quick and ordering online is easy. Definitely gonna be a repeat place to get takeout from.

Did a takeout from here on a Friday night. The oldest Chinese restaurant in Chicago, and not one person dining in. All takeout. Shame on us, seriously. The place was spacious and seems inviting yet it was still empty and a table full of takeout orders. The staff here was nice as well. We ordered their Orange Peel Chicken, Beef Chow Mein and Chicken Fried Rice. The orange chicken was good. It had a hint of spiciness but overall a flavorful dish. The chicken fried rice was good as well. A little dry but didn't have a strong dark soy sauce flavor to it which is always a good thing. The beef chow Mein was a no go. It's definitely not the chow Mein that we're used to with noodles. This was beef with vegetables in a thick sweet sauce. Definitely wouldn't order that again. Overall the food for the most part was good. And the prices were fare as well. Despite me feeling guilty for doing takeout, I still can't see myself dining in here. Wouldn't mind doing takeout from here again. Perhaps to try a few other dishes.

For a vintage restaurant experience, the Orange Garden offers excellent (and plentiful) food, old world customer service in a room that was designed in the 1930's. Today, the place is busy serving the online world with a busy take out desk. Seating is always available. Try it out!

Visited here with an ex-fling a few months ago. The egg rolls were very large, but the orange chicken left much to be desired. I found it a bit too similar to the sesame chicken ordered by my fling. It was almost like there was no difference between the two dishes' flavors. The service, however, was great.

I haven't been here since the 80s so I brought a friend with. We shared kung pao chicken and a couple egg rolls. It was just as good as ever. They have wine or drinks so we went for a drink at the Black Eagle a few doors east after dinner.

This is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Chicago . It has been open since 1932 so they must be doing something right. I used to come here in the 80's when I lived closer to this neighborhood. I dined in today and it's exactly how I remembered it - delicious. I had the Mongolian beef, chicken and shrimp and it was great . The egg roll was great too. This restaurant maintains old school charm. Pricing is fair. Service is very good. Excellent- I'll be back !

I am surprised this place doesn't have more stars. It's clearly a neighborhood favorite. In the two times I have had dinner at the restaurant, the phone was constantly ringing with take out orders ad well as long lines of delivery drivers waiting to pick up.The food here is classic Chinese American. The wontons are made in-house as well as the egg rolls. I later learned from one of the staff that the egg roll recipe has been the same for the last 30+ years. They also remind me of the ones my dad made for his restaurant. The decor looks like it has been stuck in time; that's the charm of the restaurant for me. The inner dining room looks like it's the original. However, most of it is used as the office and storage. The bathroom could use a little updating, though. The portions are huge, quality is good, and prices decent--so there's a lot of value. The shrimp and lobster sauce is old Hong Kong style, with bits of pork, egg and black beans in a brown sauce. Yum!! The lo mein noodles are tasty and not too oily like what one would find at many places. It actually reminds me of the kind my relatives would make at home. So good!We also had take out here, through Uber Eats. The food always gets here hot and on time. There's never too long of a wait.Restaurant is closed on Monday's, FYI.
