One City Tap

Unfortunately the one & only time I went. This must have been about a year ago. The booze was fine, cool ambiance, great DJ's. Then the bartender... (The owner? Manager? Idk, acted like they owned the place & seemed to be friends with a lot of the patrons.) Well, this bartender who started out all fun & silly & we were having a fun convo entre paisanos, proceeded to get Quite Drunk. I didn't much care, whatever. No habia pedo. Until, when I stood up to talk to my then-partner, he comes by and feels like he can GRAB MY ASS WITH BOTH HANDS.I immediately left. F that. Sin verguenza y sin respeto.Women - please. Be careful going here. Mujeres - por favor. Ten cuidado.

This is a simple review. It was Sunday and I HAD to get out of the house due to bodily stagnation plus the Bears were playing. So lazy me went down to One City via bike - a straight shot for me down Ashland.Bar just opened and people were still recovering from Halloween party festivities so I had the place to myself with Marco the manager. Pretty friendly guy and he put up with me for the entire game,.The outside belies the inside. Meaning = it's much bigger, clean and has plenty of seating around the walls away from the bar. They don't serve food but there's a ton of places you can order from.The beers on tap are decent as well as the prices. I was engaged to the special of the month which was FIRESTONE PIVO - for $4.50. Nice price. They also have some decent bottles too. It's right by the orange line and the Ashland bus stop is right across the street so in bad weather you are not very far from transportation.They have electronic darts, that tee ball golf game and they take credit/debit cards and have an ATM too.So check out FB for specials - and I think you will be pretty satisfied with a trip down here.

The newer owners blow the past owners out of the water. This bar now has much more of an inviting atmosphere and the owner/bartender is unbelievably nice and accommodating. I've come in with a large party and he helped us move tables together and also allows you to bring in food from your restaurant of choice. OCT hosts lotería, karaoke, punk nights, etc. Prices are fair and the mixed drinks are just right. Definitely a cool addition to the neighborhood! Forgot to add: so many ways to get there! Archer bus, Ashland bus, Ashland Orange line stop. Street parking is usually easy to find as well.

At first we had at great experience until the owners son started to favor his friends over real paying customers!!! I tip 60% of the time and i get treated less than the owners son's friends. Bad business!!!! Buyers beware!!!

Every once in a while, you find a place that you just don't want to leave because everything seems to be going so well there! One City is one such place. It's an inexpensive dive with good service and a strong community vibe. If you ever find yourself in the neighborhood, check it out.

I finally made it in here last night. I like it. It is what it is, just a good bar. They've got some good beer options though. I'll have to see what it likes when they have a dj or any of the other events they advertise. Thumbs up! And the Mapplewood selections!

Massive improvement on what was here before. Excellent craft beer selection at South Side prices.

My new favorite bar, great bartender. Draft beers are rotated every month from local brewers. Board games and Jenga available upon request. There is a juke box however the bartender always has good music playing already. Was there for their punk rock night and it was a great time. Good DJ and great beer. Always a fun place.

Under new ownership and its a great local bar in the neighborhood. Cheap drinks and awesome bartenders!!!

I cannot stop thinking about how much fun I had visiting this bar! The decor is fun yet simple. The drinks are good and reasonably priced. Not to mention that staff are kind and friendly. My phone was dying and I was able to borrow a charger from the bar. There are board games and Jenga! TouchTunes! I loved it and will be back for their karaoke nights on fridays.
