This review is only for takeout. I got the lunch special: Build Your Own Makimono Lunch with 3 Rolls (Spicy Salmon, Tuna Avo Maki, Crazy Maki). The quality and price were good, at $18 for 3 rolls and miso soup. They also don't skimp out on the fish. There are only 4 parking spaces in the front of the restaurant, but there is street parking and metered parking in a lot that's a street over.

Went here with a couple of friends the other week and it was pretty decent! The appetizers are the show stopper would recommend the chicken karagge and grilled squid. Skewers 100% would go with bacon and scallops. Sushi was alright not my favorite but apps made up for it. Cutely decorated and run my nice people! Waiters were attentive and were available with one look.

A fantastic izakaya restaurant in the Malden area to experience a variety of Japanese food. There was no wait on a Sunday evening around 6pm. The highlight of our meal was the Chef Omakase for Two, which included an assortment of high grade sashimi. We also shared the Shinjuku and Ginza roll, both of which were generously filled and topped with seafood. The Hamachi Kama was very meaty and wonderfully crisp, juicy, and tender. The Hotate Kaiyaki was delicious but on the heavier/richer side. Lastly, we ordered a variety of yakitori and kushiyaki. The Kurobuda sausage and king oyster mushrooms were so tasty that we ordered seconds! We got to choose one free appetizer because our order was over $50. It's also easy to find street parking nearby. Well decorated, nice ambiance, and attentive wait staff. Tip - if you pay with cash, you receive 10% off the bill! Overall, we had a great dining experience and will definitely be visiting again.

Great food and great ambiance! The portions were large and everything we ate was very tasty. In addition, the yakitori was smoky and seasoned well. Our server was also very kind and attentive. We will definitely be back!

Omori replaced Sousaku Bistro Japanese Tapas and Bar in Malden. The hostess is super sweet and friendly. She said if we pay in cash, she will give us 10% discount. Overall excellent customer service and once hostess knew we came to the restaurant to celebrate a birthday, she gave the birthday boy the fried green tea ice cream on the house. Great place for yakitori - meat were still juicy and flavorful. Only order the ramen to please the kids. It was below average - soggy noodles with mushy broccoli and why asparagus? About 3 parking spots in front of the restaurant. Otherwise plenty of street parking.

I love that Omori does yakitori/robatayaki and omakase sushi, and in my opinion they do both reasonably well for the price. I'm surprised they don't have more veggie robata options, like just plain mushrooms or onions (they do have asparagus). Most recently, I tried the omakase for 2. For $63, you get a generous amount of fish, two bowls of miso soup, and two rice bowls. I'm curious if you can order the set for just one person, but I was sharing.I didn't get a stomachache afterward and most of the fish tasted completely unfishy and good, which is all I want in sushi sometimes. The miso soup tasted like the standard easy/instant-type stuff which was a letdown, but that's expected. They also have highballs (drinks) here, which my boyfriend loves and for some reason is hard to find on most menus in the US, Japanese restaurant or not.One recent incident was weird: We ordered karaage and the server clearly repeated "karaage" after us and looked down at her notepad like she was writing it. After our other food had come and gone, though, I asked her about it and she seemed taken aback and insisted that we hadn't ordered any karaage. We didn't push the issue, but it was surprising that her automatic reaction was to completely disbelieve us.

Came here on a Friday evening for an early dinner (around 6pm) and we were one of three parties so we got seated quite quickly. I'd recommend calling ahead or getting there around the same time we did though as the space filled up pretty quickly and there were no free tables by the time we left! The parking lot was also tiny and there were no spaces upon us leaving as well. Our service was quick and efficient to say the least. We knew we wanted the omakaze experience and the food came out relatively quickly as well, the soup being just what you would expect and then the actual main presentation looking fantastic and tasting delicious. The quality of the fish was something I was impressed by and I'm happy I got to try it. The oolong chuhai I got just tasted like what it was described as, tea and alcohol, so while I am glad I ordered it, it wasn't really what I enjoyed. I think the variety of fish and quantity for the omakase was decent -- we were still hungry after we finished and ordered a spicy tuna maki after, but a restaurant like this isn't an establishment I think you go to to get full, it's more for the tasty and diverse types of dishes you can get. Overall, I would be happy to come back here another time to try their more izakaya centric dishes. Thanks, Omori!

Medium-sized establishment (also a location in Brookline) with limited parking (4 spaces in the front unless you find street parking nearby), this restaurant is rooted at the eastern edge of Malden Center where there are multiple choices for diverse cuisine.Walk inside and you're greeted with darker brown wood for walls, flooring and seating areas. Above the bar, several TV screens broadcasting college football stared at the patrons. Although the night wasn't as busy, they certainly were short-staffed that day but our orders across the menu arrived forthwith and when we did receive service, it was kind and professional. Two of our appetizers were memorable - the Gyu Tan (beef tongue) and the grilled squid, where the former had a delicate stir-fried flavor pairing nicely with the thinness of the organ cooked perfectly and the latter was very tender and contained the creamy white innards which boosted the flavor to a higher intensity - think about a lobster head with the head cream (I'm sure there's another term for it). Any time you see the white coagulated coating within the grilled squid rings, you know it's fresh and the texture will be tender and the flavor will require your mouth to slow down the chew and savor the meat and juices thoroughly before going after more.Yakitori was also in order and they were as expected as from other establishments in terms of standard execution and flavor - chicken gizzard, skin and thigh and beef kushi were especially succulent and captivating, almost addictive. The Hamachi Kama had no shortage of meat in its nooks and crannies - nicely grilled, well-seasoned, tasty and stripped to the bone. The Hotate Kaiyaki, which is fresh scallop, flying fish roe and enoki mushroom cooked in spicy mayo and cheese, wasn't too thrilling for me but certainly eye candy from a presentation perspective. We rounded out the night was multiple makis - Snow Mountain, Ginza, Tokyo, Yokohama and Dragon. All tasted fairly standard but I enjoyed the Ginza more cuz of the torched element on the salmon. If you have a hankering or an irresistible urge for sushi that won't break the bank, check out Omori in Malden if you haven't already.

Great spot for sushi & other Japanese fare close to Malden Center! We came to try their lunch menu, which they offer every day from noon to 3pm. We each got the sushi lunch special of 2 rolls + miso soup, and it was a good amount of food. For our maki, we selected spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, eel & avocado, and the crazy roll. Fish tasted fresh and rolls were a good size & balanced. The spicy rolls weren't very spicy and also had some tempura crunchies for added texture. For drinks, we got iced green tea and yuzu soda, which were both bottled and served with a glass of ice. The yuzu soda was super refreshing and tasty - I'd get this again. Their menu is pretty large, and I'm excited to return and try more.
