Wooly Mammoth Yarn Shop

My yarn app showed the old address for this shop, but thanks to Yelp, I was able to find the store in their new, more visible location. Great parking, although a strip mall in decline. Hopefully some of the shops moving in will bring more traffic and visibility for this gem. Excellent inventory from some familiar lines, but don't miss the wall of yarn from local dyers and artisans! Fabulous selections. There are yarns available for all tastes and budgets. The owner, Dianna, is delightful, friendly, and outgoing. Shared her experience, but is also open to new ideas and techniques. Two sofas in the middle of the shop offer an excellent gathering spot for an impromptu visit or respite knitting! The classroom at the back of the shop offers a quieter, more private (and perhaps less intimidating for the new knitter) space and perhaps even an area to block larger pieces. If you are a visitor to Omaha, seek out this shop. You will find some options not found at other shops in the area -- including an excellent selection by local dyers. If you're a local, you will want to add this shop at its new location to your list!

Seemed like a nice place, in a decent location; the store is clean and appears to have a small, but diverse selection. Unfortunately, the owner (or whoever was working the counter), decided to greet me and show me around the shop without a mask on. I will happily buy yarn elsewhere.

I don't know if I can ever go back to buying cheap common yarn at large chain hobby stores again, and that is fine with me! I went in looking for green lace weight yarn to make a shawl for my aunt's wedding. The owner spent an hour with me, walking me through options, offering to custom dye yarn for me, calling around to other local stores to see if they had more of the yarn I liked, looking through the pattern I'd chosen to help determine how much yarn I actually needed for the smaller option and even how many stitches that would be to cast on, showed me her lace projects for encouragement and inspiration, referred me to a store where I could buy high quality beads and told me what size would work on the yarn I had chosen, wound three of my five skeins up for use just in case I didn't need the last two and wanted to return them down the road, sold me her own needles since the size I needed was out of stock, and expressed interest in seeing the final product. She is awesome and helped me not only get materials but helped me start off this ambitious project more prepared than I could have been on my own. The shawl isn't finished yet, but I look forward to completing it, showing her, and getting started on the next project with her input again!

Diane has a beautiful shop! The hospitality is wonderful! I will always make this a stop on my trips to Omaha.

This is a great knitting resource, with all the supplies and yarn I need. Diane is always helpful and even allows me to to order, and pay by phone, bringing my order directly to my car! Very important at this time for my protection. I highly recommend this knitting shop. It's a gem!

By far, one of the best yarn shops I have been to in years. The owner, Diane, is just the nicest person. I was traveling through Omaha for work and was made to feel like a local. I even joined their knit night! The yarns are just amazing and almost all were ones I had never seen before. Needless to say, some hand dyed yarns are coming home with me. If I am ever in the area again, this will be on my must visit list! I even got introduced to a new designer that the shop is doing a KAL of one of her designs! Don't hesitate, this shop is a gem!

Very lovely yarn shop with a kind owner. I know nothing about knitting but was getting some gifts for my mum, who is a knitter! I had enquired about some specific knitting needles about two weeks back and the owner had very kindly set them aside for me! I loved stopping by, browsing through this ingeniously decorated store and picking up some gifts for my mum!

Friendly owners, cozy little shop with some very unique yarns. I happened to notice the shop & stopped in wearing my ugly truck driving clothes. I was made to feel as welcome as your grandmother. In a specialty shop like this, service is the main thing you have to offer. I'll be back for some MINK yarn!
