My son and I were very excited to try this class as he was on the waitlist for over a month. The first class was very confusing, the instructor/owner Mr. G, only communicated through text and never said come to the first class early, this is what you need to expect, etc. When we showed up, he met us at the door which was appreciated, but then it was quickly "change into this uniform and get out on the mat".The class was very exercise focused but martial arts was not a foundation (think push ups, jumping side to side, jumping through hoops, jumping backward through the same hoops, sit ups) - the exercises were not demonstrated, nor were the student's actions/behaviors (how to sit, what to say when the instructor talks, etc). This left my 6 year old very confused and lost for most of the lessons. When an instructor would notice he was struggling, they would come over and offer very brief instructions and then move on to the next child. Most of the exercises could only be done one at a time so the kids were often waiting in line for their turn or would miss their turn because it was time to move on to a different exercise. The class was full of kids at different skill levels and there was no clear understanding of weekly focus or what the goal of the specific class was (for example, is the focus on coordination, control, strength?).Mr. G himself is very old school martial arts mentality. He is very gruff and aggressive. If you child has any type of behavioral or special needs, DO NOT GO HERE. My son is very serious and does not like to be embarrassed and Mr. G admonished him and my parenting, because he refused to take a picture making a funny face. He prefers public humiliation instead of positive reinforcement as a teaching tool.
