So I hate this already. First time writing a negative review. Normally, I just refrain from commenting but in this case I couldn't pass on sharing our experience. Good and Bad. 1. Ingredients are good. Crunchy when supposed to be. Juicy when expected. Nothing dangerous or overtly gross. 2. It Took three attempts to get the Kids Sliders without Cheese. The kid just won't stand for it, and I don't blame her. It's plain by default; and she just didn't want cheese...pretty simple. Normally, I can slide off the cheese but this was the meltiest...most gooey cheese ever. Second time, I was actually confused. I thought maybe they accidentally brought out the original one with cheese, by accident. The Kid was patient...lucky for us...but each re-do was +10 min...so yeah, she was pissed eventually. Donny, Maybe they just needed to take it "step by step."3. My burger/meal. Meh. Yeah...ingredients and temp were good, plus it was a real high quality beef. Crunchy pickles. Sauce was flavorful but not overpowering. Curds were kinda soggy and not really plentiful. The Buck to Burger ratio was kinda...weak and less than ideal. Donny...it wasn't really "the right stuff."4. Maybe a small petty thing but the at the entrance to Shadow Lake there is a GIANT electronic billboard when you enter. While arguing about where to eat, the tie breaker ended when the screen blasted a huge Ad, "WAHLBURGERS KIDS EAT FREE." Cool. I'm down for that! When we ordered, I delicately inquired about the kids deal...and I got this "well...corporate...not...kinda...doing that anymore." I didn't have the energy or desire to be a tool about it but if you can't honor a deal that's blasted on a JumboTron; maybe call the sign guy. It's hardly the "good vibrations" I would expect from Marky Mark. Dining Room was clean. Sweet big booths! Otherwise, staff was nice...hated being a nag but after the first time...I think we were both disappointed when I had to speak. Paul Wahl would probably be wicked pissed.

First day opened! They're still short staffed (understandable). The bar isn't open yet (but there will be a full bar). They don't have the homemade lemonade yet (but will be getting it). And aside from the cardboard cutout of the Donnie, Paul, and Mark, there's no other typical Wahlburgers decor. But it's DAY 1 and a soft opening. Rumor has it that the official opening will be in early November. And yes, there will, allegedly, be a "special guest."At this location (at least currently, not sure if it'll change), you order at the cashier (who was super lovely and friendly), receive a number, and wait for your order at a table of your selection. As with the other Wahlburgers locations I've been, the menu varies slightly. I wasn't sure what to expect with this location being inside a Hy-Vee, but the menu is rather substantial. Jenny's egg rolls, buffalo chicken dip, the Thanksgiving burger, etc. - they have it. And for DAY 1, I was quite impressed with the food. It was slow to come out (but that's ok). But it was tasty and well-prepared. (Which hey, is more than I can say about some other locations.)Sooo darn excited to have a Wahlburgers so close to where I live. It's like a dream come true! Now I just have to hope and pray that Donnie Wahlberg comes here for the "real" opening...

This place just opened a few weeks ago and has received some pretty negative reviews. My friend and I decided to check it out for ourselves to see how bad it could really be. As I suspected, it wasn't bad at all! We were there at dinner time on a weeknight, and walked right up to the counter, no line at all. Our food came out quickly, I want to say within 10 minutes or so after ordering. Everything was fresh and made the way we had ordered it. The staff checked on us right after we got our orders to make sure it was all to our liking, and offered to bring more jalapeños of my friend's BBQ burger needed extra spice. Turns out the existing peppers did the trick. My impossible burger and tots were great. My only minor gripe is that the Pepsi machine leaked, as in water soaked my sleeve while Pepsi zero filled my cup. Very strange, but not directly a Wahlburgers issue I suppose.I think any new place will go through some growing pains, and everywhere is short staffed right now, which might explain some of the bad reviews. We could tell that the staff members were still learning the sales system and such, but overall we had a lovely experience, and I'm certainly happy to have a Wahlburgers this close to home.

Worst part about this place is the staff. I'd prolly give it 3.5 stars or maybe 4 if their staff wasn't so inappropriate and unprofessional. I've been there 4 times. I like to give places the opportunity to show me that my experience was a one off but unfortunately, 3 out of 4 times my experience was the same. The staffers in there having lunch talking poorly about the food, the other staffers, or talking about very very illicit weekend activities all while sitting right next to me and young kids that were seated first. On to the food, me and my kids had the crispy chicken sandwich with sweet potato tots and French fries. Thought the food was actually great. Tasted fresh and super yummy. I could eat my weight in those tots! So, if you're to going grocery shopping at Hy-Vee and don't want to shop on an empty stomach cuz you know you will most likely let your empty stomach persuade you into purchasing way more snacks than usual.... Then yea, I recommend trying Wahlburgers.

I am hoping that they are just getting the opening kinks worked out but the whole experience was subpar. You can't order online or the app. You have to call the store and get passed around till you get them. My sloppy Joe only had one piece of bread. I don't know if they forgot another piece but it was strange. For my side I ordered onion rings but they gave me a box of onion tanglers. My food was also cold after the 10 minute drive home. Two meals were 30 bucks after tip and it just wasn't worth it.

Wahlburgers at Hy-Vee Shadow Lake was a dinner of convenience on Friday Nov 12, 2021. It came tomind because 1110 KFAB was broadcasting from there and I though we would give it a try.Disappointment. Regular Hy-Vee burgers (i.e., at Hy-Vee locations that just have their own sit-down cafeteria) are better. The spouse and I shared the PB & bacon burger with government cheese and the offspring had a small, regular burger. We all observed that the beef patties were devoid of texture, juice, or flavor. The buns looked and tasted like the cheapest bun available. As the offspring said, it reminded him of a middle school cafeteria hamburger. So yeah, no, I won't be going back to Wahlburger. Marky Mark should stick to movies, or maybe try his hand at music again.

We decided to try this place to see what the big deal is so we ordered to-go and we ended up disappointed. We ordered two $15 burgers that came out tasting and looking like McDonald's end-of-day $5 burgers. On top of that, we ordered the $13 sloppy joe and it was one slice of bread with meat and cheese; they forgot the crispy onions rings and it tasted subpar (subjective of course). Then we ordered regular French fries and they didn't have any sort of seasoning or salt or pepper...no flavor and served cold. The final straw was the $5 side salad (simple). So disappointed that it was just lettuce and 3 croutons and less than half the container...more like $1 worth of lettuce. It was missing cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, etc. The servers we trying hard to keep up with orders and are super nice but things just kept getting mixed up as I was watching from the side waiting for my food. Overall the burgers tasted okay... not what I'd expect for $15 or Walhburg namesake. We won't be going back unless they drop their prices to match the quality and improve the taste of the food. Here are a couple pics for reference. I was rooting for this place but all I can say is don't set your expectations too high. Someone please pass this on to Donnie and Mark Wahlberg #wahlburgers

Wahlburgers worst idea was to establish itself within Hy-Vee. I've had wahlburgers in Las Vegas from a true restaurant and it was great. The quality provided by the Hy-Vee staff is terrible. Things are mushy, covered in grease, not cooked through and truly do not live up to what the family initially started. I would NOT recommend eating here, ever!

Over priced, horrible food. The server was extremely helpful for our issues but we will never be coming back. We spent over $45 on the two of us to not even half way finish our dinner. The fried pickles weren't even breaded, just floured and deep fried and we sent back for a refund. The wings were bland and the chicken ranch sandwich tasted like fish and had almost no ranch... you can tell it's a frozen patty they fried.Hy-Vee on 98th and Q

WAY more expensive than expected. Just the two of us for lunch and the bill was $35.00!!! For just two burgers and fries, no drinks. (and I'm eating in the old HyVee restaurant). Burgers? Meh...Let's either try this somewhere else or maybe not...
