The second star is generous, but I did eventually get my package. Was not home when a must-sign-for package was delivered. No slip was left. I called the company that sent it and was directed to a post office on 136th St. They were friendly enough there, but basically said "oh no, we don't do anything with delivered mail at this post office." They sent me to the Stoney Brook annex. There's a solid wood door so you can see nothing, and a door bell which I rang over and over for many minutes. No answer. I could hear people on the other side, one even said "ding dong!" Eventually I went back to the first post office and told them what happened. They said "those were the carriers you heard. The clerks can't hear the door bell." They tried to call Stoney Brook, line was busy, and then someone told me "I'll call Dave. Go back." So I went back to Stoney Brook, rang the bell for several more minutes. Eventually someone came to the door, Dave, I assume. From there I got my package like normal. The setup is simply not conducive to a public-facing operation, yet when they have packages and mail that needs to be picked up by the public, I don't know why not. Without the call to Dave on the secret number, I'd probably still be there.

I left feeling like a valued customer and not just an annoyance.
