Tradehome Shoe Store

Swung through on a whim as I saw a sale sign and could Use another pair of shoes. Prices were good and as expected, selection was fantastic everything from work shoes, casual shoes to sneakers and all the major brands. What stood out the most was the customer service. They were helpful not pushy, quick but not in a hurry. Willing to spend the time as I looked at multiple types and colors of leather shoes. I came in to the store to browse through some of their shoes that they carry. I'd say that these are high quality and comfortable shoes by some of the finest brands. However, I felt uncomfortable being inside the store. I feel that one of the sale associates needs to be trained in customer service and cultural competency. Rather than offering assistance (another associate did offer, though), one of the first questions that he asked me was "Are you from around here?". I thought that was not an appropriate question to ask or not a nice way to strike a conversation to a customer. My assumption is that the question was asked because I was Asian and many people assume Asian people do not exist in the Midwest or some are not exposed to Asian people and don't know how to deal with people from other racial background.Either way, I don't feel comfortable to return or shop at this store again.
