This place was typical of the food in Columbus. It fills you up and keeps you from starving but the flavor is just blah! That's kind of the way every place in this town is. Just blah. I haven't had anything in this town that wows me.

I've eaten here once during my lunch break and go the L3 Roll Special for Lunch. It was great! So many of my coworkers commented on how good the food looked and smelled. I absolutely adore miso soup and seaweed salad for a special treat. I ordered upon arrival and it didn't take more than 10mins to get my food. I'm sure it would've been faster if I called ahead.I don't live in the area, but I do work here occasionally, so Tokyo is a fun treat. Hoping hubby will agree to me being on home some takeout tonight so I can once again enjoy the fresh and delicious options they have. This is truly a gem of a restaurant in this area of Nebraska. You should definitely try it sometime!I haven't eaten inside the restaurant, so I cannot speak to that side of the service, but if it's anything like their takeout, I'd imagine it's pretty stellar.

Beautiful food presentation and affordable prices. My menu favorites are the fried gyoza (Japanese dumplings), sweet potato tempura, and for sushi the fried shrimp roll and Columbus roll (pictured). My son likes the fried sesame rolls (filled with chocolate) and the peach Ramune Soda (a Japanese kids drink in a neat shaped glass bottle).

Update 60 days later; They seem to have reduced their front-end staff and the service has improved dramatically. The food is still very good, both the appearance and taste. Prices are very reasonable. With the staff changes and dramatic improvement in service, this is now 100% a great dining option in Columbus!!

While the atmosphere is very stereotypical I believe the owner probably just looks up Japanese products on Amazon it's not very original but the food more than makes up for it best sushi outside of Omaha

This is the best Japanese food in Nebraska. If you're looking for very kind and attentive service and perfectly delicious food you're in for a treat. I've traveled all over Nebraska and tried many foods, but nothing compares to this. I've heard murmured in the restaurant "I got sick one time eating sushi, ill pass" but tokyo will never leave you sick. Me and my fiance have went there countless times and been left with nothing but smiles and full tummies. This is a place you can count on quality and freshness. One time I was very sick (for unrelated reasons) and nearly cried because I wanted their beef udon soup that bad to make me feel better. The ambiance is lively but cozy and comfortable. Be careful when you come here you might just fall in love with this place and never want to leave!

I was surprised at the reviews on here. We had good food with excellent service. We didn't have a long wait even though there were several other customers in there. All of the staff was very friendly and checked on us to see how the food was and if we needed anything else multiple times. The owner even came over himself. It was my daughter's first time for sushi, and she didn't love it. But she did love the teriyaki beef she ordered. They do have chopsticks at the tables to start with, but my daughter was having trouble with them. The staff noticed and brought her a fork over without us even saying anything.

I know this is a new restaurant and one should be a little more patient with waitstaff, but the customer service with our dine-in meal was truly abysmal.About ten minutes after we were seated a waitress took our order for two octopus appetizers, a seaweed salad appetizer, a sushi platter for my wife, and a hibachi beef meal (with miso soup) for myself. We waited patiently for our appetizer and the seaweed salad arrived--it was unduly salty. (Mind you, "real" Asian food is usually subtle in taste, so the added salt was probably added to sate American palates.) About ten minutes later, my wife's sushi platter arrived. (The portion size was nice, but the salmon wasn't very fresh.) About ten minutes later, my meal arrived after one of the servers took a small tour around the restaurant asking whose meal it was. (It was okay--not noteworthy.)About ten minutes later, our appetizer arrived...but it wasn't octopus--it was shrimp. We informed our waitress that it wasn't octopus since octopi don't have shrimp tails, but she took wasn't so sure so she took it back to the kitchen...then brought it back to us. We then insisted she bring it back to the kitchen to bring us octopus, not shrimp. About ten minutes later, the octopus arrived. (It was okay--at least it wasn't greasy or tough.)Then we waited around for the waitress to take payment. After a while, I said "Let's go" and paid for it up front. I then reminder our waitress (who was also the cashier) that I never received my miso soup. She offered to fetch me some where it would be ready to go within ten minutes, but by then I had enough.
