This place is now called The Salty Heifer and wow was I impressed! The food was amazing! The Banana Pie Super Sundae was literally to die for. I was thinking about it the rest of the day after I ate it! There were a ton of people working there and our waitress was super nice. This place is small but in great condition. I loved all of the small town art prints that they had on the walls. The temperature in the restaurant was also perfect! Normally I get cold, especially when I'm wearing shorts and a tank top, but it was perfect. This place is also so cost efficient to your wallet! Will be coming back!

C&M Cafe is now called the Salty Heffer, but the sign still says C&M. It is one of two restaurants in Malvern. Both are excellent.Order at the counter or at the table. 7 tables inside and 4 outside. Malvern is kind of an art town, and a local artist has her work displayed. The staff is incredibly nice and attentive. The Bacon cheeseburger and fries are quite good. A tasty patty, plenty of bacon, and nice toppings. On Fridays, they have a fish fry special (as of Jun 2024) with a choice of cod, flounder, and pollock. The cod must be good bc it was sold out. We got the flounder and pollock, which were both tasty. The fish fry comes with homemade chips (not British chos that we know as fries).A nice stop whether you're visiting via bike from the trail or stopping by otherwise.Their ice cream is worth a stop. My wife got a Blitz, which is like a Sonic Blizzard, but better. Better ice cream, more toppings, and better topping distribution. I got a banana split which was huge and good.

Visiting Malvern today and decided to stop for lunch. The Saturday special is cheeseburger and fries, so that's what we got. Not the best burger I've ever had, but good nonetheless. Server was very prompt and friendly. Very nice diner with small town charm. Watch out for the restroom, however. As described elsewhere, it has an outside entrance with a shared door to the kitchen. Definitely worth the stop. The diner, not the restroom.

C&M's is the perfect example of small town value, charm and good eats wrapped into one cozy place.I stopped in for the first time last Sunday morning; they serve breakfast until 10:30am on weekends. The place is pretty laid back, but there is table service. They have an à la carte menu, which I love because I often eat like a bird. I ordered 2 eggs ($1.50), toast ($0.75) and coffee ($0.50). My eggs were perfectly scrambled, my two slices of thick wheat toast well buttered, and my coffee continuously refilled. My dining buddy ordered bacon, eggs and toast, and a soda. Grand total? $7 something. Less than eight dollars! The two women who took my order, refilled my coffee, and delivered my water were incredibly friendly; the service was supreme. You can't beat the cozy feel of this clean cafe more known for their burgers and ice cream than for breakfast. Rest assured, this is no dive.Malvern is off the beaten path, though the Wabash Trace Nature Trail runs through town. If you're in Council Bluffs or Omaha, consider a morning drive to Malvern. Take the Loess Hills Scenic Byway into Glenwood to Highway 34, then south a couple miles into Malvern. Explore the town's old buildings and enjoy breakfast at C&M's. Enjoy!

Wonderful little gem in sw Iowa. The service was an A+ the moment we walked in the door. We had been scoping a few places out in the area and decided to try C&M's, and glad we did. We had supper there and then topped the meal off with ice cream! Great service, food was good and kids had a good time. Would definitely go back to again.

Wonderful homemade food at a great price! They have specials everyday and they never disappoint. We ordered ice cream this time and got the Extreme Sundae - it was enough for 3 people! We've been here several times, have never left hungry or with empty pockets. The staff is so nice and welcoming as well!

The food is still good with the new owners. However their hours are drastically reduced and they even closed over the summer due to heat so no ice cream. Along with this they stopped a 20-year tradition of fish fry Friday during lent in Malvern which is very disappointing. We used to go there a lot but not anymore.

New owners are super motivated and have great specials. The ice cream is too notch. It's right on the Wabash Trace so it's a great stop on the ride through Malvern.
