Finally was in the neighborhood and stopped by for wings on a Saturday afternoon.Service was good, wings were good, char-buffed buffalo. A smidgen pricey for a dozen, but not too far out of line. I wish there was a 10-wing option, 6 is not enough but a dozen a bit more than I want provided they are good-sized wings, which they were.I don't know that I would make the trek from West O for Salty Dog alone, but if there was any other reason to be in the vicinity would definitely consider returning.

Char-buff Wings, People! I mean I lived my whole 40+ years not knowing this was an option. Tots by the truck load! Napoleon would be proud! (Dynamite not Bonaparte) Great Service! Friendly. Fast. Foods hot...if it's not, I get the feeling you bring it to their attention and they make it right. I don't ask for perfection...I don't even have perfection at home. Hanging around CB or just looking to cross the river to try a walk on the wild side, ya'll gotta check out the Salty Dog. Note: Lots of dumb press afoot about this place and their management; and an unsubstantiated situation. Yelp isn't a place to wage cyber war or take political hostages. It's about good food, community, and fun experiences. Nothing about The Salty Dog made this Veteran feel anything, except happy/satisfied. The staff I met were polite and accommodating. Give them a try. Prove the facts to yourself. Maybe let's keep our non-Food/Service related opinions to Reddit or FB Groups. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet.

The wings was so delicious, I only dipped maybe 3-4 in the ranch sauce and that was it. I felt the ranch was robbing the wings of their unbelievable flavor. The nachos...I was extremely disappointed. I paid however much I paid for the nachos and was disappointed in the end. My disappointment was that I couldn't finish them!! I read a review that said if you order the nachos, don't order anything else. But I'm a big boy so I ordered wings to go with my nachos and yeah, I barely finished half. It's an extremely generous serving and was delicious. I forgot to mention I didn't want sour cream but thankfully the staff didn't put the sour cream on my nachos, it was served on the side in a little cup. I really appreciated that. They did have a bar you could go sit at, looks like a really nice place. I definitely look forward to stopping by again next time I'm in town. One last thing, I'm very big on leaving tips to those who work in restaurants. In a society that suddenly has become "tip hungry", it's those in the restaurant industry who are affected the most. A guy helps an old lady cross the street then ask her if she'll like to give him a tip. It's ridiculous. But it's those in food service who don't ask for a tip, despite that being more than 50% of their pay. I ordered my food online and intentionally didn't leave a tip because I was planning on giving a cash tip when I picked my food up. I went into the restaurant to pickup my food and forgot about the cash in my pocket. I returned to the truck stop and drove away. 200 miles later, I realized what I did and felt horrible. To the staff who prepared me an absolute amazing meal, I sincerely apologize for forgetting to leave that cash tip.

This is a half-mile walk from Horseshoe Council Bluffs. Easy walk with sidewalks, a little grass, and you might see 1-2 meth-heads on the way but they'll just walk by you. It's even possibly they will nod or say hello, but they usually keep their head down and keep it moving. My food on this trip had left a lot to be desired and this was by far the best meal. The wings take at least 20 minutes, which is actually good because it means they take it seriously and focus on quality. The waitress was patient although I could tell she might have gotten a little frustrated with all my inquiries about which wings to get--I suck at ordering wings. But she did a good job and remained poised and was friendly the rest of the way. And she made a great Old Fashioned that was also a good pour. The dude that took over for her at the end of my meal had a scowl and didn't say a word (reason for the four stars but food is a five). The vibe is a neighborhood family bar, which sounds odd but it works. They will instantly know you're not from there but they are friendly enough and the wings are excellent. Therefore, recommended.

We had heard that Salty Dog had some of the best wings in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro area, so we had to try it when we found ourselves in the area after a movie. First of all, the ambiance is bustling and super busy, which is a good sign, showing that people love it. They have many different TV screens all around, so you can definitely check out games there. There is a lot of open seating, and a cool bar area. When perusing the menu, we saw they had Pizza Rolls (yes, the classic Totino's Pizza Rolls, but they fry them up instead of baking/microwaving). They were crispy and delicious, and came with a side of marinara sauce topped with parmesan cheese for dipping to really give it that full pizza flavor. We also asked for a side of Ranch with our pizza rolls, and their ranch seems to be homemade. It was tasty and very flavorful. My husband had a side salad with the same ranch, and he said it was fabulous compared to other ranchy side salads he'd had. He asked our server what her favorite type of wings are, and she said the Buffbacue, because they are extra crispy and double sauced in the preparation. Her recommendation was accurate, and the wings were awesome (he shared a few bites with me, so I can attest.)I had the Turkey Bacon Wrap for my entree on our first visit. It was light, but still filling with the turkey, chopped egg, cheese, and aforementioned amazing ranch, with the leafy greens cutting down on the heaviness of all the other toppings. We went back a second time and it was just as good, so not a fluke! This visit I had the Italian Job Burger, and it was covered in marinara sauce with fried cheese curds on top. It tasted like straight up spaghetti, with the burger being the meat in the sauce - LOL! Definitely recommend that one. I've also tried the standard burger with no crazy toppings, and it's great! Just a simple, well cooked/seasoned burger. On our THIRD visit, I tried the Chicken Tenders (yes, I'm five years old) and they were top notch. The barbecue sauce they have is sweet and tangy, and works perfectly with the style of tenders. I'm a strict proponent that the sauce you use for dip has to work well with the chicken style, and this definitely does. The word on the street (the internet haha) that these were some of the best wings in Omaha held up to the rumor, and add in all the other tasty things like the Pizza Rolls and burgers? Yes, please!!

Little hidden gem in Council Bluffs IA! The front door doesn't lie, they definitely are my favorite wings in Iowa! The charbuff was amazing, my dad got traditional buffalo and said he would definitely order charbuff buffalo next time around. They just have a great firery. It's super dark inside, typical ambiance of a sports bar. Menu says prepare for a 20++ minute wait on wings but ours felt like it came out quicker! There was plenty of tables open around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, but the place was still poppin busy! Parking lot out front is large and complimentary. Waitress was great, refilled beverages and checked in when needed!
