Before you read the novel below, I will summarize within the first couple sentences. We had heard about this small hole-in-the wall place and read rave reviews prior to reserving our table for a birthday celebration about a week in advance. We reserved for 4pm on a Sunday. 2 stars instead of 1 because 2 out of the 5 steaks ordered were cooked as ordered and were delicious. When we arrived it was to our surprise it was empty..no one else waiting/seated at the restaurant. It appeared to have one employee working, who happened to be the owner it turns out. We were seated and asked for drink orders and brought cans of pop, and told that Dr. pepper would have gone bad before it could get used so they didn't carry it. No big deal. Ordered a full spread of appetizers, didn't receive one item, asked about it and it was made and brought out. No big deal. Drinks were empty almost the entire time despite being the only table in the place and we were hardly checked on. Everyone ordered Rib Eye steaks except kids and one person ordered sirloin. We were told he was out of 10oz, so had to "upgrade" to a 12oz. All steaks were supposed to be medium rare. We were still the only people at the restaurant at this point...40 minutes later. The kids' items came out first, smart move. Then came my 12 oz steak which was burnt on edges, about 1/2" thick, and Well Done. Then, out came the 16oz rib eye and it was 3/4-1" thick, juicy and cooked to medium rare. As ordered. Then came my husbands steak, a 14oz cooked medium well and also about 1/2" thick the lobster tail was probably a 2oz tail and served meat side down on a leaf of lettuce...cold in the center. Then came the other 14oz that was about 3/4" thick, juicy and undercooked. Then came the birthday girl's 16oz and it was about 1/2" thick and well done. At this point, it was no longer a maybe because the 12oz was smaller it was over cooked, but a do they even know how to cook a steak? When I addressed the issue, I was told " Well, I cook on the plus side of what people order because some people say one temperature and mean another." I said "well, medium rare to me means warm red center. " He left and came back stating "I only have one steak left, so...." Just walked away. No apology, no explanation other than what was said. A table of 3 showed up about 5:30 and his attention went to them. We are business owners and know staff/supply shortages are real, we get it. BUT there is absolutely no excuse for the lack of service/explanation especially when charging over $20/$30 from a so called Wagyu bloodline that was over/under cooked 4/5 steaks. All he had to have said was, "hey, we are short staffed I am by myself, bare with me. I'm sorry it wasn't cooked to your liking, can I throw it back on or get you another/something else in its place?" But when you dismiss a complaint, offer no explanation, don't care to strike up a conversation with customers or even thank them for coming in there's a bigger issue. Especially when you shut down your Facebook page's option to leave a review after a message was sent directly to you regarding the service received is ignored. Something tells me maybe this wasn't the first time, maybe it wasn't an "off" night. Either way, reviews can still be left on other platforms and will be. We are not typically hard to please, be friendly, keep glasses filled up, bring us what we order and you receive a very generous tip and review. This was not the case here and people have a right to know what could happen during their visit especially since it seems any negative review is reported or replied to with a snarky come back.

Horrible worst steak I ever had, think it came for Walmart discount freezer section and then cooked frozen. Was told by several people not to go steaks was purple on the inside ( sighn was cooked from frozen) I had to see for myself. Will never ever never go back don't understand how can still be in business with the price that is charged and the poor quality of food

Great beer selection. I had swordfish with a mild ghost pepper sauce, which was excellent. My husband ordered crab legs, and they were cooked perfectly. He made the comment several times that they were way better than legs you'd get a seafood chain like Joe's. The waitress was very pleasant and patient, and the chef came out to check in. Will return!

Absolutely the best smoked chicken I've ever had! The owner/chef uses a meat smoker on site, so there is no artificial smoke flavor here! I ordered smoked chicken tacos, and they came as hard-shell tacos with chunks of the chicken, lettuce and tomato, and shredded cheese. The chef put the barbecue sauce on the side, which was good since it was too spicy for my taste. My tacos came with a side salad, and the lettuce tasted freshly chopped. The fries my husband ordered with his meal were so piping hot we had to wait a minute to eat them (a good thing -- we knew they were fresh!).We were intrigued by the location, and the fact that it's a very small, mom-and pop operation (not a chain). Clearmont is a community of about 170 people in a rural area. The restaurant looks like a small house on the outside, and has a homey feel on the inside. The interior isn't that big -- maybe about 6 or 8 tables total - so there is a cozy feel to it. It's like being in a relative's living room while they're cooking for you.Having REAL smoked chicken - again, the best I've ever had -and freshly prepared food accompanied by genuine, friendly service from the chef and waiter totally made the drive worth it. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Absolutely one of the best places around to eat. The food is always top notch and Chef Dave is eager to ensure everything is to your liking. My only complaint is how far away from home his place is. My last visit was just before Thanksgiving to pick up our smoked turkey, it was a huge hit. The only reason I'm even writting the review today after signing up to Yelp is because after eating at A&G in Maryville and getting a Kronos(stadium food) gyro that was one of the worst I'd had the forst thing that came to mind was "I should have went to The Q". I won't make that mistake again. Thank you Chef Dave and I can't wait to return for another of the best tenderloins I have ever had. (I'll still be asking about the homemade pickles he says he's not making anymore too, they're the best.)

Absolutely the best pork tenderloin I have ever had. The selection of adult beverages was wide. Another table had steaks and they looked wonderful. Can't wait to come and visit again to try the steak. The atmosphere was terrific!!

Why Chef Dave is hiding his skills in small town Missouri beats me but I feel blessed to have access to his fantastic food. I have never in my life had a better tenderloin or pickle. Chef Dave has this cooking thing down that is for certain. If you are ever anywhere near this small town make it a point stop and enjoy some of the best food you will ever have. I really should have written this review in all caps it is that good. I feel sorry for anyone who does not stop when in the area as they are really missing out.
