The Home Company consistently demonstrate that they care about the home builder experience before, during and prior to the build. Everyone we encounter at The Home Company from their upper administration, sales, planning, construction and post build warranty team have been very friendly and responsive. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you!

Have had many clients build with them and the price per square foot to quality is amazing! They build all over the Omaha metro too and had access to the most amount lots compared to other builders we would meet with !

For the love of God, never buy a home from the Home Company. By far, one of the worst builders in Omaha. Everything is sub-contracted out so they have no real stake in the house. After the warranty is done, they literally refuse to help with any other issues on the house. One of their owners lied to our faces while in the home he built that his company would always be there for us. Once that warranty is gone, he had his secretary tell us that nothing will be done. Drywall cracking and tape popping, concrete shifting, island not secured to the floor, sooo much settling that I fear my house is tilting and so many cheap short cuts that I can not even name them all. They are Celebrity Homes in disguise. Stay far away from them. They pour foundations in the winter and do not give it time to cure and to ensure that it is solid. Overall poor construction and within 60 days, you will regret buying this home.

The Home Company terminated our home contract after months of design and building because we were "unreasonable". I guess when you have emails to back up those "unreasonable" items to be fixed, The Home Company, finds the easiest way out by just canceling a contract instead of fixing those items. A lesson I learned was that even though they are a "best of" company, they were not the best choice for me. This entire review is based on my opinion and what happened to me.

Right after closing, the builder asked if I would do a Google review and I said I would wait until after the 60 punch list was done. Well, 60 days after the 60 day list was submitted, it's still not all done. FYI, this is a townhouse, not a single family house. I did not build from scratch, it was 30 days from completion when I purchased it.Summary: This builder builds a decent house but the details matter and they don't focus on the details. Many times, repairs weren't done correctly the first time. The builder's agent knowingly gave false information. For the detailed reasons listed below, I would not build with this builder again. In fact, a family member is building an almost $800,000 house in the same neighborhood and they chose one of the 3 lots NOT owned by this builder because of their agent and all the issues I've had since moving in.1. Sod was installed but the builder didn't turn on the sprinklers so the sod died. 120 days after closing, I still don't have sod.2. Landscaping was put in prior to the soaker hoses being installed so many of the plants around the complex died (I watered mine).3. They are done with construction for now but there is so much construction junk left on the empty lots that it's not only an eye sore, but a danger. You would think the builder would want the community to look good so they can sell the 9 vacant units that they have from the 20 they originally built.4. Builder is not contributing to the HOA, even though their vacant units account for over 60% of the units that actually have sod and the HOA pays for the mowing.5. Builder's agent was frequently not honest during negotiations, and many times just down right lied. He gave me an address and said the flooring in mine was going to be just like that unit...it wasn't. If asked a question he didn't know the answer to, instead of finding the right answer, he made one up...which was usually wrong. But it wasn't just giving the wrong answer, he was not honest several times to me and other buyers in the complex.6. There isn't great quality control and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Hinges were different finishes than knobs, HVAC registers were not cut in, downspouts were not put on the townhouse next to me, etc, etc, etc.7. Took them 2 months to encase the exposed main electrical line coming into the house. No sense of urgency on this safety issue.8. Regarding the 60 day punch list, some contractors didn't know what they were doing when they showed up and some repairs had to be done twice, even when they were informed how to do it right the first time. Still waiting on the completion of items 60 days after submitting the list. When I contacted them about when the list will be done, they told me that everything was done. No, everything is not done...9. Front sidewalk by the porch sunk and when they took out that section, the rebar wasn't even in the concrete, it was under it, and it wasn't "pinned" to the porch like they said it was. They didn't backfill under it or the adjacent section to keep it from settling later so they'll probably have to replace it again on the 1 year punch list.10. There was a washout under my patio that was 8 inches tall and ran 6 feet under patio. They didn't fill the void, just added rock to the edge and said "that's how they always fix it.". No, that is NOT how you fix it. Even if it is pinned to the foundation, which the first section of sidewalk wasn't, it will put additional stress on the foundation. The void needs to be properly filled. 120 days later, it's still not done.12. There was a time sensitive issue with a contractor and I asked the builder to either call me or come see me the next day. No one did, nor did they follow-up at any later date. I've had to go to the contractors directly several times to actually get things done.

We purchased a spec house from The Home Company. The house is decent, with the exception of some issues, such as the dryer being vented through the roof, requiring frequent cleaning to prevent dryer smells and fire hazard, a cut underground drain house they refused to fix for over a year, and a lot of creaky floors. I would warn others in purchasing a home in a neighborhood in which The Home Company is just starting to build. We were told that we were purchasing a home in a neighborhood where they owned all of the lots and were the only builder, and that our area would be all ranch villas with 2 car garages. We moved to Bellevue because of the neighborhood, only to find out months later that The Home Company sold off most of the lots to a national builder that is building homes en masse and putting up 2 story, 3 car garage homes on very small lots. Needless to say, it has been a nightmare to live within a massive construction site and watch the neighborhood change from how it was presented to us. We also found out that the Home Company is building over 60 townhomes in the neighborhood, which they failed to mention or include in their renderings presented to prospective buyers. Public records show this was already planned, so leaving roads and lots off of drawings of the neighborhood seems intentional. We never would have made the move to the area had we known this information. Be careful of buying from this company and do your homework, as they are not going to be forthcoming when it means making a sale.

If you want this caliber of home, save money and buy from legacy homes! Not happy with their warranty or service! They like to forget you after you have closed. I would give them negative stars.

We built a two story home. We had some things we wanted to change with the floor plan and they worked with us and got what we wanted done and are very pleased with the end result. Any issues we had were handled very well. Everyone at The Home Company was great to work with and it was very apparent our satisfaction was their goal.
